For the last 3 years WWE has had the tradition of having a terrible main event lined up for Mania, having the chance to fix it and then decides to say "f*** you" to the fans:
2014: Elimination chamber with Bryan failing to get his win and go to Mania 2015: Fastlane Roman beating Bryan an then receiving a verbal blowjob from all things that live and breath in WWE 2016: Had a chance to move the title to a feud people cared about by having Ambrose beat Triple H but instead having Triple H win and make possibly the min event with the least f***s given of all time.
How will they do it next year? Make your predictions here.

There's a difference.
The last two years they actually solved that problem.
This year there is no way to solve it.

Did you really think Ambrose was going to win the title tonight?

Solved very easily.

Let's not kid ourselves here.
There was never any intention to put the belt on Ambrose tonight.

How? The last two years there was a contingency plan in place. Unless of course they have Ambrose do The Ambros movement to get the crowd to give him a #1 Contender's match against Brock.

The truly aggravating thing is that WWE apparently *knows* what their fans want...and outright refuses to do it.

Let's not kid ourselves here. There was never any intention to put the belt on Ambrose tonight. And that's the problem. But hey, whatever. Let them try their big anointment in front of 100,000 people, let them piss Rock off again over for the second time trotting him out to fail to prop up something they know the crowd will hate, and let the ratings continue to drop.

Leave it be. Just let WWE have their moment and we'll see if the die hards stick around come Summer.

Honestly at this point I hope they just stick to their game plan and go with their original plans, just so it can blow up in their face and maybe they'll finally make some changes.

I'm amazed at the sheer amount of people who believed that Ambrose would win tonight.

...but they didn't say **** you in 2014 or 2015. Bryan got Mania 30 built around him, and Rollins stole the title in a genuinely shocking moment in the main event of 31.

In 2014 it was a f*** you up until about two weeks before the event, when they realzied it wasn't going to work given the reactions to Batista. And last year, they didn't decide to do that until literally the night of the show so I still count both as a f*** you at tht point in time, they were retconned f*** you's but f*** you's none the less

And last year, they didn't decide to do that until literally the night of the show so I still count both as a f*** you at tht point in time, they were retconned f*** you's but f*** you's none the less The Occupy Raw segment was about a month before Mania, and Bryan had been presented as the main protagonist of the show for a month or two before that. I'd say from Elimination Chamber onward it was clear WWE was planning on doing something huge with Bryan at Mania - WWE isn't exactly subtle with their storytelling most of the time. For Mania 31, Reigns was in the main event but the main event itself ended up focusing around Rollins, and his cash-in was indeed the biggest focus of the show and the post-Mania Raw. Reigns was undoubtedly hyped up going into the show but the main story coming out of the event was "the guy most of you don't like couldn't get the job done, and got outsmarted by this guy you do like." Whether that counts as a retcon or not is debatable.

It's all good. Lesnar/Ambrose is going to be good and I'm still interested in Triple H/Roman.
