Tbh I stayed up late to watch this (hard to sleep in hot weather) and now I'm too excited to even attempt to sleep. I had no idea this was just a teaser trailer, so I will avoid the ten other trailers and teasers they will release for this. I miss when movies just got one trailer then that was it. Only complaint about the movie so far is that Thanos looks like a gigantic blueberry! I really wish the Defenders and the Punisher were in this, but I understand that they already have so many characters in one movie. Maybe a cameo in part 2? Also I swear to god if they kill off Cap (you know there's gonna be a huge death), I will leave the cinema sobbing.

Guys, the Guardians get the last shot! They're the big reveal. That is f***ing amazing. For the first trailer for Infinity War, the big reveal is the team whose first movie a lot of people thought would bomb.

Looks very corny especially compared to the badass Black Panther trailers from earlier this year. But as far as these team-up movies go, the best you can really hope for is an entertaining hot mess. Also, Thanos looks like a roided up Grimace. Which is terrifying. Nothing can kill the Grimace.

I wasn't planning on watching this one, but if Winter Solider shows up dressed like the Hamburglar in the next trailer I may change my mind....

I'm hyped. I am so f***ing hyped and I cannot wait for this film. So many thoughts and questions: 1: And there's Thor with his missing eye!!! 2: How the hell does Hulk go from space to New York to Wakanda? 3: That shot of Vision with the scepter to his head? Damn! 4: Looks like we're getting the Vision/Scarlet Witch romance 5: Loved the Gauntlet with two gems/stones. The building process begins! Guys, the Guardians get the last shot! They're the big reveal. That is f***ing amazing. For the first trailer for Infinity War, the big reveal is the team whose first movie a lot of people thought would bomb. This would've carried so much more weight if the extended version wasn't the focus of the Comic Con trailer. That said, it was still awesome.

Thanos just doesn’t look himself. I wasn’t even sure that was him at first. This is going to be a wild ride. Box office records are going to be shattered the weekend this movie comes out.

You're either really underestimating this film or going out of your way to downplay it. There has never been a massive crossover film like this and it has been built up for nearly 10 years by way of a handful of popular and successful films (plus Thor 2). If anything, an entertaining hot mess, as you put it, is likely the worst we can hope for.

Of the superhero genre overall most of the films are either just boring or well-marketed but painfully mediocre films with only a handful of actually really great ones in the mix (which is true of pretty much any genre haha). I totally get that people are super stoked for so many of their fav characters being in the same film, but beyond that it just looks like a bunch of CGI'd characters smashing into each other to fight a big, generic baddie and his interchangeable minions. I don't think I'm down playing to say it looks corny to me. Most of the superhero films look corny to me (again, with a handful of exceptions). I mean, I'm actually giving it the benefit of the doubt - Civil War was a hot mess that wasn't at all entertaining to me. This one at least looks like it'll be better than that. And maybe the movie itself will be pretty good but that trailer just looked generic af to me.

While you can only include so much story/plot in a teaser, I think it's been a foregone conclusion that most of this film is going to be "a bunch of CGI'd characters smashing into each other to fight a big, generic baddie and his interchangeable minions." We've been getting the entire plot and story since the first Iron Man film and this is supposed to be the final battle (or at least part one of the final battle). Compare it to the Harry Potter films, which ended with Deathly Hollows Part 2. That film was essentially two hours of people fighting. And as far as Infinity War goes, a large chunk of the appeal has always been the idea of seeing all the characters together in one film and the teaser is basically here to show us that it's becoming a reality.

Totally agree with everything you're saying. Especially the Harry Potter films - similarly mediocre films that told a long form story. But successfully telling a long-form story doesn't automatically mean it's not corny or generic. I mean - okay, let me put it like this. I like...sometimes LOOOOVE generic and corny films that are unmitigated hot messes but I can still say - "Yeah, that film that I'll watch a billion times - ridiculously corny on so many levels."

I don't have a problem with you finding it corny at all. Sometimes corny and cheesy are great. I just didn't agree with you saying that it would be an entertaining hot mess "at best." It's never going to win an Oscar award (unless it's for special effects), but I think it has potential to be an overall successful film on multiple levels.

Well, hey - I mean, that was me trying to be generous with the overall entrainment value in general. As in, it won't be an amazing film that will stand the test of time but it will likely be somewhat better than your average superhero film based on sheer spectacle alone. If it's an entertaining hot mess - I personally call that a win, especially in the big-budget action/superhero category these days. Do I think it will be more than that? Not really, but I don't really need/want it to be either.

Thanos needs his helmet/hat.
Apart from that the trailer has me hyped.

I like how they're handling so many character by dividing settings of action: The Guardians/Thor in Space, Iron Man/Spider-Man/Strange/Wong in New York, and Black Panther/Team Cap in Wakanda.
With Ragnarok in mind, I can only imagine how this film opens with Thor, Loki, and Hulk. We could be looking at Days of Future Past-level brutality.

Not to take anything away from DC but I will NEVER have the emotional connection to the DCEU that I have to the MCU. Which is funny because growing up I was a DC kid. The MCU took a bunch of characters I barely knew anything about and made me care about them, made me love them. I cried during this. Flat out cried because this is it, this is what I've been both dreading and anticipating because they aren't all going to make it out of this alive and I'm tearing up just thinking about that.

Looks good except for Thanos. Never was a big fan of the character's design, but he definitely needs the skull cap/mantle. I think he looks better with the all black eyes as well.
