Why in the ever living hell is Groot still an adolescent or teen here? Does that mean the GOTG2 credits scene with Starlord and Groot takes place closer to Infinity War than to that movie? Or is Groot just being a lovable ass and refusing to grow to OG Groot until he's needed to...just because he can? They really haven't explained that at all. I have no idea why he is aging so slowly. Hell, can't remember if it was the movie or the comic but in one of them the blatantly say they have no idea why he hasn't fully grown yet I believe that's from the comics. Because in the comics Groot can return to normal size in something like 2 hours, they never gave a time frame in the Guardians movie.

I like to imagine Groot is basically a god and gets joy from sitting back and watching shit happen, sometimes he even stirs the pot to screw with people... until his friends get in too much trouble then he's all about buckling down and getting shit done. Either that or he's Marvel's version of Tom Bombadil, minus the yellow boots and singing about porking his wife Goldberry. I'll laugh if Thanos is ultimately beaten by Groot casually kicking his ass.

Aww, look at Rocket behind Stan.
If something happens to him, I'm gonna be a mess. Him or Cap.

So are we to assume that everyone in this set will appear in Infinity War? Because that adds a few people we weren't aware of previously

Saw someone on another site say Bucky in that shoot "looks like Roman Reigns if he was actually cool".

So Cap is bringing back the uniform from the Winter Soldier. Nice.
Also, hi, Mjolnir...

Honestly I'm pretty torn on the subject of going to see this. Seeing a massive crossover of pretty much all the heroes at once would be pretty awesome, since there's really never been anything remotely like that before in live action before of just an outright crisis crossover, but I'm very up and down on Marvel movies. First batch I pretty much all liked other than Iron Man 2 (and even then it's not like the movie's unwatchable by any stretch) and especially loved the first Avengers, but second and third... Had no desire to see Ant Man or Doctor Strange (and go ahead and stick Black Panther in that pile), hated Homecoming, Winter Soldier bored the hell out of me, didn't like Thor 2 or really care for Thor 3, Age of Ultron was a huge pile of bleh...
But I had fun with Iron Man 3 and Civil War (though admittedly not been in much of a rush to rewatch them) and quite enjoyed the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, so I dunno. When these movies hit for me they hit but more often than not post wave one the experience just feels hollow. Maybe I just got tired of the formula, I dunno.
Really biggest hopes for Infinity War are that they actually make Thanos an interesting villain, because the universe barely has any of those and he's been the poster child of that the way he's been menacingly sitting in his chair for six years, and that they let a moment be a moment because one of my biggest issues with the recent movies, and Thor 3 in particular is the poster child of this, how it feels like they can't ever let something be serious for two seconds without following it up with a stupid joke.

I want OJ Simpson's post-prison hell to somehow be a plot in Infinity War!

Because that adds a few people we weren't aware of previously The article in Vanity Fair itself is more of a retrospective of the first ten years of the MCU but the photos are obviously set up to hype Infinity War. So Cap is bringing back the uniform from the Winter Soldier. Nice. Also, hi, Mjolnir... Also, Thor appears to have a scar below and above the eye he lost in Ragnarok.

I couldn't even tell that was Linda Cardellini until I skimmed through the article and read the photo caption. It's funny that they included her, since her character didn't have a huge role. Can any of you think of anyone who should have been included but wasn't? Maybe Loki?

Can any of you think of anyone who should have been included but wasn't? Maybe Loki? {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Since Jeremy Renner has been pictured on the set of Avengers 4 in the Ronin outfit I suspect his family will be one of the main casualties in Infinity War. Loki's easily the most notable absentee from the photos, but he's also been a villain in every appearance up to Ragnarok, and even then he's still just out for himself. None of the other surviving villains (not that there's many) are present either. The theme for the shoot is clearly heroes-only.

Yes to the latter. GOTG2 took place 3 months after the first film, circa 2014. The credits scene with the teen Groot is about 2 years later, roughly about the time part 2 actually came out. IW will pick up a few months/a year or so after that.

I imagine that photo was probably taken before Ragnarok? New costume, though. Yeah, Ragnarok wrapped 13 months ago. Avengers 4 started filming in August, so I imagine this photo shoot happened around the same time. I suspect Thor gets his eye and Mjolnir back via Dr. Strange.
