People that think that a yakuza kick sucks are stupid idiots.
The Yakuza kick rules and it's the best wrestling strike.

I don't like the finisher. It's pretty weak really, it might work in Zayn was a big guy. Like if Luke Harper did it I could buy it as a finisher. But a short, skinny guy like Zayn doing it, nah. He needs something better.

Test smiles down from heaven whenever Sami wins a match by kicking a dude in the face.

It feels more like a transition into the end than actually the end. Anyway, do think he could use a better finisher and also think Sami's character is kind of bland and seems to be missing a hook, but all in all he's a pretty great talent.

The Helluva Kick is fine.
But I do think the Koji Clutch and Blue Thunder Bomb would make better main finishers for him. I'd also be less inclined to think this way if the HK wasn't just done in the corner.

I like the Helluva Kick but it feels lacking since people just fall out of the corner to be pinned. Just seems there should be something that follows it. I liked him following it up with the Koji Clutch a few times, be a nice combo.

He's not even short by historical wrestling standards. He towers over guys like Jericho and Liger.

His finisher's fine. His character of "Hey I hate Kevin Owens too guys, lemme in the IC title clusterf*** too!" isn't doing him any favors though.

I'd also be less inclined to think this way if the HK wasn't just done in the corner. That's it for me. It requires such an obvious set-up that there's no real chance for him to nail it as a big surprise finish moment. Switching to a more versatile Yakuza Kick would help.

It seems more like a setup move, but I still enjoy it.

It was probably me you saw saying that I don't buy him as a babyface, because I don't. His character is certainly a babyface, yeah. I'm not one of those guys who pretends like that's not the case or anything. (Please upvote my post that says the villain was actually the good guy and the good guys were the bad guys!) It's just that to me he doesn't come across as one. If I had to describe him in a word, it would be unctuous. I cannot see it at all when people sell him as the next Daniel Bryan or something. Though of course considering very few people probably feel similar to me and everyone else thinks he's super likable and cool that could well be the case. Keep in mind that this is based on absolutely nothing other than the way everything about him makes me feel. In other words, it's just one man's opinion.
As for his finisher, I feel like he's got it all backwards. The HK is a clear signature, especially because he only does it in the corner, and the Blue Thunder Bomb is way too slick and serves as way more of an exclamation point. It should be the finish.

He needs something better. Harper also has the best big boot in the business, Test would be proud. Still disappointed he does the discus clothesline instead. I like the Helluva Kick, but I kinda agree that it's a bit...coming miles off....when it's always in the corner. If Zayn is to be the new top underdog face, he needs a finish that can come unexpectedly. Bryan, Austin, Cena, Punk, they all had moves that could be hit suddenly, and/or countered interestingly.

Should be the Helluva Kick into the Blue Thunder Bomb, easy to transition, and a double shot that really sells a Match Ending Sequence.

Consider that Zack Ryder does a similar kick where his opponent is sitting in the corner, a height that makes it easier to generate a much more forceful impact, and that he uses this as a two-count spot.

I like Sami, but I don't like his selling. I don't know if it's just been since his return from injury or if he's always done it but it's like as soon as Sami gets hit with a move, he starts selling like he's dying in slow motion, dragging himself all over the ring and being barely able to stand. And he does it basically every match, whether it's an hour-long war with Samoa Joe or a 10-minute bit of filler with Stardust.
