Last time it was reported that Cena had suffered a setback that would keep him the shelf for several more months, he returned weeks later to win the Royal Rumble.

He should take all the time he needs, but I really would not be surprised if he tries to rush back when the ratings start dipping into the two millions, which at the rate things are going is going to happen in about three, four weeks.

Have you guys seen Cena lately? This is him a few weeks ago at the Performance Center.  He looks 30 again and that's after taking all this time off. The more the better for his health and surely he'll come back better than ever. Rushing does no one any good. You've got guys like Reigns, Ambrose, Owens, New Day, Styles, hell even Charlotte, Sasha and Becky stepping it up in Cena's absence. It's also showing that when Cena's finally gone, they'll be able to handle the load. It's not bad at all. |

While I hope he has a full recovery, If he never appeared on TV again I wouldn't miss him in the slightest.
Besides hasn't the role of plucky joke making babyface who doesn't sell has a limited move set and never loses been filled by Roman already?

Cena having an extended break won't do him or WWE any harm Unless he bolts to Hollywood which I would argue would be a good thing since it gives wrestling more exposure again. But yeah he needs to take a long ass break. Maybe he will finally get 100% universally cheered again when he feuds with Roman Reigns. I think that'd happen regardless and is why they're not doing that feud any time soon. The smarks respect Cena more and the casual fans would be more attached to Cena because they've known him a lot longer. |

His return will only be bigger the longer he's away. Exactly. They always rush him back and don't give the audience a chance to miss him. Imagine this - they actually go through with Reigns turning heel, and he spends months being a complete dick and holding on to the WWE Title. He's in the ring at one point running his mouth, and Cena's music hits for the first time in 8 months. The building would come unglued. |

His return will only be bigger the longer he's away. John Cena takes the title from Roman Reigns at Summerslam. Every city they do their rivalry in will suffer smug pollution. Doing that match in NYC will get the best response |
