I think a dystopia is a very apt metaphor for WWE and what it's been about for years now. At least they acknowledged it, but that makes it worse, because they know how much they suck, they just won't bother. I've been done watching for ages other than giving them a chance this time starting with Road Block, and nothing has changed at all. Blows my mind that people still regularly watch. They're openly shitting on their fans and admitting their product is soulless, hopeless garbage. You can't really get any worse than that. I've hads all I can hads, I know that much. I'm quite the ritualistic person, partly to keep myself sane. So I have kept watching every week, and the highlights have been enough to keep me around, and really my fandom for a lot of the wrestlers. But not anymore. After tonight, I'll be going out of my way to find different things to do on nights when I'd usually be watching their product, and this promo is directly to blame. If you think about it, the progression makes sense. Vince has made it a habit to treat those most loyal to him like shit for decades now. Now, that's been extended to the fans.

Didnt' see it, haven't watched in forever live, don't give them money anymore. I'm getting from this thread it was the "you're jealous losers, suck it up and give us money" bit, and that's all fine and dandy except...their "conquering hero" du jour is someone that is being openly rejected by a huge segment of the audience. Said conquering hero's response is "it's a kids show, if that's not you, piss off". Honestly, even the "good guy" says I shouldn't be watching anymore, so if both sides of a morality play say "we don't mean YOU, you loser" then at some point it's not just "a scripted, predetermined promo, you worthless mark", it's "haven't you got the message yet".
I have. I miss it from time to time, I catch clips on Youtube, I might even watch an occasional RAW or sit with a buddy to watch a PPV on the network (watched the Rumble, before that it was...shit, last summer some time maybe?), but at the end of the day, the message got delivered. As a result, half a million people have stopped watching their flagship show, in the last yaer, that's 1/8 of their live TV audience.

Is there a word for being both angry and aroused? I believe the term you are looking for is RAGE BONER.

After taking a moment to shake off how damn hot she looked, I laughed because she was beeeeeeeeeeegging the fans so hard to boo her and her husband and it just wasn't happening.

It was ridiculous and corny, but I couldn't hear because my erection was screaming.
That happens to other people, right?

What was the gist of what she said? For those of us who didn't watch Was this weird dystopian thing about The Authority ruling over us mindless drones who will continue to watch no matter what. This was after Steph removed some strange skull mask and was clad in Sensational Sherri's gear atop a platform. the whole thing was weird as shit and the height of ego. I know that the alleged intent was to get heat and make people cheer Reigns...but the fact that Reigns is the person we're supposed to cheer, despite his being rejected multiple times, made the attempt at heat ring hollow, and made the subtext all the more true. And I've watched long enough to know when there's truth to things. Based on the way the company has been for the last 5 years or so, I have no doubt that the feelings she was expressing had truth to them, even if they were gussied up for the promo. Those are the things they say to each other backstage when they're embarrassed the fans are shitting on their shows. It's that self-delusion and insularity that keeps them going. I don't think this was an earnest attempt to score any more heat than they may or may not have already had, content wise it wasn't really any different than the shit they'd been saying for the past couple weeks. I think really all it was, was an amped up Authority promo with a theatric flair to add to the spectacle that is Wrestlemania. I didn't get the impression that there was any feeling of "this should really do the trick." I really loved it, felt like a live action version of the Heavy Metal animated movie. I can understand why people who are at their wits end with this Authority shit could find it overbearing. I think the real bummer about the Authority is that I think Stephanie McMahon is an amazing performer, a genuinely great heel, it's just a shame that they made her the wet blanket that she is.

I thought it fit her character perfectly but it made me like her more just because of how over the top villain it was. I'd prefer her to do more of that kind of stuff on Raw actually, preferably with the huge entrance and hot outfit.

Made me feel that it's basically WWE's view on its fans vocalized in the form of the villain that represents the company in kayfabe.

Thanks to that segment my libido is basically gone. I'm making special note of how this promo seems to have affected FAN members...sexually. The wide range of opinions is fascinating.

I thought it was blatantly a "please boo us" promo in a last ditch attempt to get Reigns cheered.
It sounded like the type of promo a dystopian future heel would cut in a southern indy back in the late 1980s.
It was at turns bizarre, funny, cool, and stupid.

I wish this Corporate Satan Steph was her main gimmick. They should add that whole balcony setting to the TV stage for her to use.

I laughed because it was so completely over the top to the point of silliness. Some of HHH and especially Vince's hatred of millennials and the working class has gotten to me in recent times (caused me to cancel all subscriptions and stop watching the main shows).
My Dad wanted to watch Wrestlemania so I got a stream, and as I listened to Stephanie I was quite glad I wasn't paying and don't plan to anytime soon.
