doesn't Warwick Davis play R2-D2 now? No, Jimmy Vee is the main performer inside R2 now, though not strictly the only one.

My main memory of SOTE wasn't even in the original material. There's a mission in X-Wing Alliane (from the vastly superior in every way X-Wing series) taken straight from SOTE. You're in a Y-Wing,flying alongside Luke and Dash, to capture a ship, which releases an indestructible mine which destroys your fellow Y-Wings. You then need to escape with Luke and Dash, including singlehandedly fighting off an Interdictor Cruiser. It's a great level for it's Russian nesting doll of references, including both SOTE and a mission from TIE Fighter where you fight alongside Darth Vader, which was unique for the time.

Honestly I'm nervous about this film. Not in terms of whether it's good, but in terms of how I'm going to feel once it's done.
I have a very clear memory in my head of going to my local library as a kid, about 10 years old or so. I picked up a Star Wars comic, the first I'd ever seen and had a quick flick through. I later learned that the comic I picked up was the collected edition of Dark Empire. I glanced through and found a Luke who had turned to the dark side and was fighting for the Emperor. As a kid, I found that very upsetting. So upsetting that my mum refused to get me Star Wars related literature for at least a couple of years, when it came to birthdays and Christmas.
I knew Han was going to be killed off and I was ready for that. But this is Luke. This was the guy I pretended to be every playing from the ages of 6 until a very embarrassing age. I didn't want to be Han, I wanted to be the young, heroic, force powered youth who was going to save the universe.
If Luke dies, or gets betrayed or turns to the dark side... I don't think I'll like that. For 30 years Luke has been the paragon, the hero's story, the farm boy who saved everything. For me, he deserves a happy ending, the happy ending we know Han and Leia won't get. It sounds silly, but my inner 10 year old, the one who found Luke's dark side turn in a comic s upsetting, will be mortified.
TLDR: Luke is ther hero and I really want him to stay that.

Based on the various spoiler threads I've seen, which all more or less corroborate each other, I can see this one being as divisive as Force Awakens.

I will say that this has me more interested than Force Awakens did. I don’t think the trailers make it look that great, but I’m not actively searching for spoilers trying to find something that interests me like I had to for Force Awakens. Also, that new version of the Imperial March that’s in the TV Spots is damn catchy. Also we need an update on the Ewoks I'm surprised that aspect of Star Wars never made a comeback. I have fond memories of the two tv movies. Oh, God, the Ewok movies. I loved those as a child. They were actually how I got into Star Wars. In 2006 or so, the Ewok movies were released on DVD, and I bought it. Watch the first. Thought it was a cute little family adventure. Popped in the second. I was unprepared for that little girl’s family getting slaughtered within the first five minutes of the movie. I had zero memories of that. That seems like the sort of thing that sticks with you, you know?

I remember the ending, when they got the crashed ship reactivated, and were firing away at the villains.

Which one had Wilford Brimley? That's the only thing I remember besides "everybody dying".
That's all I have for Ewok Movie memories.

I doubt they ever bring back Ewoks short of a cameo. They're primitive and native to Endor's forest moon. Unless the Battle of Endor rapidly advanced their civilization, they're not going anywhere. Though I'll always have a softspot for the Ewok mercenary/bounty hunter that joins your party in The Old Republic. She was both adorable and bloodthirsty. Here's my Sith Assassin with her.

I got tickets to the 10 PM showing on Thursday. I'll be super tired on Friday, but it'll be worth it.

I already have a ticket for opening night, but I can't help but feel like this is only here to satisfy me while I wait for Infinity War.

If Endor survived the Death Star's debris holocaust, it now belongs to the First Order.
Captain Phasma probably had all the Ewoks shot and stuffed.

Rey aside, and Porgs aside, my main beef with this movie is that its going to be a verbatim remake of Empire
Somebody on Fandom had a great article about Star Wars of the 90s versus Star Wars of today. Disney only wants nostalgia, and this is their take on the trilogy with their emphasis that the bad guys are the fringe element & not in charge.
It'll make their eventual destruction in Episode IX all the more meaningless. Its exactly like feuding with John Cena.

If Endor survived the Death Star's debris holocaust, it now belongs to the First Order. Whether or not Planet Endor survived, the Forest Moon of Endor might be safe. Many forget that it was the moon that most of Jedi took place on, not the main planet itself.
