I think Abrams just wanted to introduce familiarity to The original trilogy....which TFA definitely accomplished.

People say TFA was a lot like A New Hope, and the similarities were striking.
And it looks like Last Jedi will be like Empire... well looks like a Jedi training sequence will be in it, and a AT AT ground battle. Wonder if Kylo will be chasing down Finn and Poe in order to lay trap for Rey and possibly Luke.
Sure it will be ace.

I think Abrams just wanted to introduce familiarity to The original trilogy....which TFA definitely accomplished. Which makes sense when you consider the massive time gap from ROTJ to TFA, especially when they're trying to continue the story. Y'know in general, I never did see the "A New Hope remake" criticisms that people threw out. Sure, there were elements that felt familiar, but these same elements were in most of the films (sand planet, hero pulled from said planet into an adventure, giant base, masked villain with evil overlord, etc.) and if you're a filmmaker trying to make a new installment to a franchise where the last three installments are (unfairly, in the case of III) widely panned, wouldn't you want people to remember the better films?

Don't most people actually like Sith Not sure; I tend to see all three clumped together. I personally like Sith a lot which is pretty much the only source I have on the "unfairly panned" line, lol.

Actually think the years have been kind on the Prequels. We now seeing the younger fans defending them.
And with Sith I have seen people has it as the 3nd or 4th best in the series
I can make a case for it just behind Empire

I quite like TPM.
It's flawed but is a decent film. Make Anakin older, get rid of Jar Jar and maybe tone down the political bits a little and it'd be a solid film.
AotC was a bad film until the final hour.
Sith was good. My third favourite after New Hope and Empire. Fourth favourite if we're including Rogue One.

The prequels all suck, it's just that ROTS sucks slightly less than the others. But it's still terrible.

I dislike ROTS more than either of the others because it was the biggest missed opportunity; the whole point of the prequels was seeing the Vader's rise and his hunting the Jedi to extinction. ROTS should've been the easiest one to knock out of the park, and it just sucked.

It's funny People have ROTS in the top 3 or the bottom 3
I remember when my ex watched the movie she always hated the Jedi Kid scene.
Best thing Lucas did was just showing Anakin turning on his lightsaber and letting you use your mine in that scene

IMO, Sith is the most exciting prequel, but it's nowhere as fun as the last two movies or the original trilogy. If anything, I think on its own it's a better lead-in to A New Hope than Phantom Menace or Attack Of The Clones put together.
Sith is the film where the major key events of the Star Wars mythos finally kick in.

Will there ever be a Star Wars conversation that doesn't devolve into a debate about the prequels? I think people will be doing it 1,000 years from now.

A lot of them didn't even watch the original trilogy until after the prequels and never on the big screen. Nostalgia is a hell of a thing. I'm sure it affects our perception of the original trilogy. And I will go to bat for Episode III, as outside of a few Lucas-esque "huh?" moments, it was a really solid movie. Ian McDiarmid's acting as Palpatine was amazing.

OOOOOOHHH Not sure if face on right is Rey or Kylo Ren. Fairly certain it's Ren. I love this poster so much, I hope it gets put up for sale. I set it as my phone background as soon as I saw it on here.
