Much like Edison v. Tesla, it felt like this was a squash by design.
Worked well enough. I liked the guy playing Douglas. "This ain't Louisiana, man."

Yeah this was definitely intentionally made so one-sided. Jefferson was pretty much done by the end of Douglas' first verse, as he was on the defensive his entire second verse(which ended with that bitch ass, "We cool?" line).

While he had a great first verse, Jefferson basically conceded the battle in the second verse. Which is a shame because Douglass' only real attack was "you had slaves" which, while I'm not defending, kinda got old fast.

Yes slavery was terrible, but there are plenty of other details to Jefferson's life than that. It wasn't the only thing he could have been mocked over, and worse this also underscored Douglass' accomplishments. The battle should have just been about which of them made more lasting impact in their time and that be that. It's especially confusing because they didn't have George tap out when he faced Wallace.

Yeah, that's the weird part. In George vs. Wallace they had Wallace take shots at George for slavery, and George basically....shrugged them off more or less.

It more and more feels like this may have been rushed out because of Memorial Day.

Haven't dug any of these new battles, to be honest. Season's still young, though. I'll give it time.

Julia Child vs. Gordon Ramsay was awesome.
For Douglass vs. Jefferson, I think there are times when they look at an idea on paper and it appears great, but don't take into account that they're more or les squandering a great subject. Leonardo Da Vinci and Michaelangelo should be one half of their own battles, but they get shoe horned for a Ninja Turtles concept that seems fun, but really only gives two of the most important figures in western society about 30 seconds of time. That's what happened here, Jefferson vs. Douglass is a good idea on paper, but by doin it, you're only allowing one small facet to come out.

I agree with the wasted potential in Jefferson and Douglass. With the artists, yes Leonardo and Michelangelo could have been their own battle but I thought the only problem with the third season finale was its length. To be fair, there's no rule that states Peter and Lloyd can't go back and have previous battlers face each other. In fact, they could do almost a whole season of splitting past battles up and face them off. Just off the top of my head they could have Hitler vs. Stalin, Napoleon vs. Joan of Arc, Master Chief vs. The Mario Bros., Beethoven vs. Mozart, and Washington vs. Jefferson.

Hell they had Lincoln rap in two different battles already. So it can be done.

Minor update but, apparently they've started doing censored versions of their videos. Maybe for history teachers?

Exactly, that's a good point! Yeah I mean I can't see them not bringing back Trump for the election video. I'm not sure if they'll have an episode around the election this year. Because they came back in May this time, they might do the latter half of this season until after its over. Maybe Trump will be in an upcoming episode, or be a guest rapper but because of how sporadic their schedule is I just can't be sure.

I saw a really good suggestion in the comments (which is rare). Neil Armstrong vs. Edmund Hilary.
I think Guy Fawkes vs. Che Guevara would be cool.

Yeah that would have been much better as a straight up Connery vs Craig battle with guest appearances from Moore/Brosnan and Lazenby/Dalton/Austin Powers as cameos.

The B on D line was great, about the best part. I was honestly expecting Ethan Hunt to show up.
