Which match do you prefer? Despite the botched finish I prefer the Summerslam one.

The Wrestlemania one for sure. It had a fantastic 6 month storyline going into it and there really had never been anything like it before. It instantly got the Ladder Match over as a great feud ender and solidified Shawn and Razor as stars.
The 1995 one, while a good match, loses something for me with the build, which in kayfabe was "Gorilla Monsoon thinks this Summerslam card is the shits. Why don't Razor and Shawn do one of those ladder deals again?"

Even with the botch I prefer the Summerslam match more and more over Wrestlemania. Both are great but I think the limitation that was put on them when laying out the Summerslam match lead to more creative spots and better psychology.

The WrestleMania had a better back story, as mentioned and was really the "first" televised for a major population of WWF fans. The Summerslam was good but the storyline wasn't there. It was thrown together because the WrestleMania match was so good. It was almost a 180 of sorts. I think Shawn went to second Diesel while Razor took off more after the WM match. The SS match I think shot Shawn up to bigger, more main event status, while Razor just seemed to linger on the IC contender/title holder scene after that.

The WM one is what made Ladder Matches my favorite gimmick match, so that one.

WMX gets my vote. It was really exciting stuff. The storyline was great and it still holds up as one of the most memorable Mania matches.

I liked the WM more as a kid since they hated eachother and then by SS they were just good mates so it lacked story.

I voted for Wrestlemania 10 since I was there but I didn't like either.

I'm biased because I was there and it was the first PPV I saw in person, but I'm going with SummerSlam. And it was the first match to introduce a second ladder, so that was neat to see.

WMX. Nobody knew what to expect, and both men incorporated the ladder into the match perfectly while also giving a decent display of wrestling.
The Summerslam match had a lot to live up to, and failed due to the limitations put on the wrestlers as to how they could use the ladder. Michaels's moonsault onto Razor was incredible, however.
