So I was just reading the 'Should WWE sign the Decay' thread and how Courtney Rush could be a good addition to the WWE roster and it made me sad that while the WWE was obsessed with Diva searches, Playboy and pudding bowl matches there was a whole crop of women they passed over who helped kickstart womens wrestling in the United States and pave the way for the likes of Bayley, Sasha and Becky Lynch. But which one do you think was the best one that they let slip through their fingers?
(Note: I excluded Serena Deeb and Amazing Kong because they did actually sign them but sadly neither worked out which was a massive shame. I also excluded Nicole Matthews because she could still be signed in the future.)
Now the obvious picks would be Melissa or Del Rey, but both were and are horrible at promos. Both fantastic in the ring, and for me Melissa had that star quality about her, but I cringe whenever they talk. Rain is one of the most gorgeous women to wrestle in the last ten years but her wrestling while easily good enough for Raw wasn't as crisp as the rest. Hamada and the now sadly retired Nakagawa and Kurihara were phenomenal talents but I am not sure how well they would do with a casual audience given how they aren't the best talkers and don't carry the aura Asuka does. Nakagawa might have done alright with her larger than life persona and water bottle antics mind. Mercedes never really clicked with me and everything that Nikki Roxx does Daizee Haze does better.
From the rest I will pick Lacey and Daizee Haze as the ones they should have signed. Lacey was an outstanding heel. While I adore Portia Perez and have her as one of my all time favourite wrestlers she so often plays up the humour whereas Lacey never let up being the biggest bitch in the world. Daizee was always her most natural opponent she could have been a proto-Bayley easily with her colouful outfits, adorable personality and the WWE could have made a killing selling her giant flowers.
My third and final pick is out of Sarah Stock, Madison Eagles, MsChif or Portia Perez. Stock was an incredible wrestler and Madison & Portia just "gets" wrestling like so few do. But my final choice is MsChif as her unique character would really stand out and she could play face to Lacey or heel to Haze.
So who is the biggest "what if" from these names?
