Hey, I'm just happy Peter Cullen and Frank Welker are consistently making big money from these things. That's all I have to contribute and this and any other Transformers thread. I definitely like that it is throwing good paydays around to good actors. I've said it before, but at times it feels like these movies are directed by the third, dumber Cohen brother because there is so much overlap in the actors they like to use.

So, people are still shilling the hell out of this flop.

They're on Robots in Disguise, which while being a kiddie show, is a much better continuity for the franchise still. This does remind me, though...both Cullen and Welker's characters in live action seem to have lower voices, where they sound like the usual interpretations of Primes and Megs when done in animation. Do they slow their voices down or something in the movies?

So, people are still shilling the hell out of this flop. It will still make its budget back overseas. I watched it the other night and as I said before, I actually like Michael Bay, I appreciate his passion for film and don't find him to be as evil or a hack as other people do. But it's time for him to step away from the franchise, he obviously doesn't care about Transformers anymore, and it showed in this film. I'll say that the film did have good ideas and just when you think you're getting a semblance of focusing on the robots, immediately it cuts away, and once again we're focused on the human dynamic when we should be caring about the alien robots. Michael Bay, I feel is best when it's a small film and not so much is riding on it. That's why I enjoy The Rock, Bad Boys, Pain and Gain, Armageddon, and Pearl Harbor is a guilty pleasure too. The first Transformer is still great for me as it legitimately feels like a Transformers movie. Unfortunately the sequels have strayed further and further from the concept.

For the sequel don't get Michael Bay, let him focus on his smaller projects, and get a director and designer who can make the robots look different from one another. No more focus on the humans, if humans must be used, take the animated movie approach and have two.
Better yet just adapt the animated movie and go from there please.

Also why is Optimus Prime a murdering psychopath? Is it wrong to want a hero with great qualities and doesn't come off like a douche? I understand the anti-hero is a thing, brooding characters are I guess more relatable, however, Optimus with each sequel has just become more and more of a dick.
To be fair, I think this film would've been better if Optimus was the villain(as was advertised) and you had the Autobots attempting to stop him. Would've been interesting to see the pure hero corrupted into evil and attempting to destroy Earth.

Seems like someone is going through the trouble of artificially inflating the audience score on RT. lot of five star reviews from people with names like Sjsjsj Wkwjkw

And what you said is a problem; the idea of the Transformers shaping human history isn't a bad idea, but when it's crammed between confusing battles & people forgetting that Megatron has tried to destroy the Earth four times, it's not fun. I know see Transformers fans hate human characters in general (after all, the Wiki openly mocks them), but they can work. The 80s comic, in particular, did a good job with both human allies & villains, but in the Bay movies, they are either useless eye candy (Megan Fox, the Latina from this installment), obnoxious comic relief, or shoehorned the hell into the franchise (the kids in this movie).

I'm in the theater for this, now.
Had a day so crap, the only cure is watching robots punch each other in the face.

There was a lot going on in this movie and most of it wasn't good. There were a few bright spots...I enjoyed Hopkins and Cogman, for example. However, the flow was weird and there were things just thrown in that I don't think needed to be in it. A good movie was in there, it just didn't come out.

The only human characters who look competent are Wahlberg's guy and the soldier guys from the first three movies (who show up here). Then again, that probably goes hand-in-hand with Bay pretty much making the army essentially the secondary heroes to the big robots.

Just got out of the theater.
I liked it. Not my favorite of the series, but I was entertained.
Movie needs to be seen for Anthony Hopkins' performance, alone. Let's just say I have some doubts about the sobriety of it.

Looks like it bombed in the US (relative to the other movies at least), only 69m over the five days, but over 196m overseas
