their early work was a little too "new wave" for my tastes, but when "Sports" came out in '83, i think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. the whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost! he's been compared to Elvis Costello, but i think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor. in '87, Huey released "Fore", their most accomplished album. i think their undisputed masterpiece is "Hip to be Square", a song so catchy, most people probably don't listen to the lyrics. but they should, because it's not just about the pleasures of conformity, and the importance of trends, it's also a personal statement about the band itself. hey, Paul! {Spoiler} AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

I like to imagine Patrick Bateman is an alternate universe Bruce Wayne who never met Ras'al Ghul.

Mention Huey Lewis and I'm back working the dock of a retail store in the mid '90s. The store played his music constantly; I swore he signed a deal with the retail chain where they play his songs ad nauseum. (Throw in some one-hit wonders of the early '80s as well.)

Whenever I listen to Huey Lewis, my girlfriend feels compelled to tell me that she can't think of Huey Lewis without picturing him having sex in the movie Duets, which grosses her out.

They managed to sell out a benefit concert for a local hospital a few months ago.

I remember reading that Ellis said that the sections of "American Psycho" that involved music discussion were Patrick Bateman's attempts to appear normal.

The weird thing about Patrick Bateman, is that I completely agree with his analyses on music and business cards.
