Terry's knees must creak like the Tin Man by now. I'm pretty sure they're being held together with chewing gum and silly putty at this point.

terry funk is only 71? i thought he was so much older Much like Arn Anderson, he has looked middle aged his entire life. That's probably why it seems like he should be 150 by now. Dory still wrestles on occasion doesn't he? He's 76 this year

He's 76 this year Yeah, but you're less likely to see Dory do a moonsault off a 20 foot ladder with a flaming branding iron through a table covered with thumb tacks floating in a giant fish tank filled with hungry piranhas... that EXPLODES!!!

Does Funk really do anything extreme at this point? IIRC correctly I saw some clips of his match last year with Lawler and I think it had a flash paper fireball spot, which isn't actually dangerous. I figure his upcoming match in Japan will mostly just be crowd work and weak punches. However, I've mostly just heard of Funk's matches in the last decade rather than actually watching them so I may be off the mark and am just genuinely curious.

Sad that he needs the money THAT bad. I wonder how destitute he is Terry Funk is quite well off, has a nice home life, and is happy, last time I checked. He just really, really, really loves wrestling. And hey, the fact that he can still go at all, let alone well enough to entertain people at his age, is incredible to me. More power to him. For my money he's probably the North American GOAT and is still at it. Yea didn't Funk make a pile of money when he sold off some of his land about 10 years ago?

Flair alluded to that when he had Funk on his podcast, something like, "I heard the number you got for that ranch, I know you're not hurting." Funk wisely did not confirm.

I keep hearing in interviews and from various people that Terry got a nice amount of cash for the land. But no one has even attempted to guess how much. It really feels like Funk keeps taking bookings cause he loves to wrestle. Few guys I know were at the Funk/Lawler show from a bit back. And said Mr Funk was a blast."He just sat there telling all these great stories. It was like sitting down with your grandfather,if he was a wrestling legend."

And said Mr Funk was a blast."He just sat there telling all these great stories. It was like sitting down with your grandfather,if he was a wrestling legend." I've met Terry a few times at signings and he's always been that way. He's happy to have full blown conversations with every fan, and there were a few hundred at these, so staff was trying to keep him moving along, but you could tell their hearts weren't in it because they were enjoying it too. My favorite story about Terry comes from my dad. He's 6'3" and about 250, and being in his mid 50s was the same age as many of the wrestlers in attendance, so it wasn't uncommon for fans and wrestlers alike to give him the eye as they tried to place him. (Including, much to my amusement, an incident where we stepped out of the elevator and turned the corner toward our room, and as the doors closed, I heard another passenger say, "I never liked that guy." I have no idea who he thought dad was.) Anyway, dad was taking the elevator down to the lobby when the doors opened and Terry stepped in. He immediately put out his hand and said, "Hi, I'm Terry Funk." Dad shook with him and said, "Yeah, I know who you are." Terry replied, "Well, dadgum it, I want to know who you are!" Dad also had to tell him where he was from, which led to Terry telling stories about defending the NWA title in Knoxville and coming in to work for Cornette later. They shook hands again before going their own ways.

Terry's knees must creak like the Tin Man by now. 'Will I be able to get around comfortably?' 'You shouldn't be able to get around comfortably NOW.' There is a perversely entertaining reality show to be made called "Wrestler Doctor" about a doctor who specializes in seeing pro wrestlers, marveling at how they're able to get around and futilely trying to get them to retire. Terry Funk stars on the season finale every year.
