Monday Night Raw: October 20th, 2014 – Sprint Center in Kansas City, Missouri
After the WWE Signature flashes across the screen, viewers are taken to a recap of last Monday night’s events. The Authority, consisting of Batista, Randy Orton and Sheamus defeated CM Punk, Daniel Bryan and Dolph Ziggler. They left their opponents laid out and did the same on Smackdown. This is followed by “Tonight is the Night” playing as Michael Cole, JBL and Jerry Lawler introduce the episode.
The ominous Hell in a Cell is hanging over the ring tonight and begins to lower, causing the crowd to come alive. They begin to boo as the music of Randy Orton plays. He walks to the ring with Batista, carrying the Tag Team Titles. The Cell hovers over the ring, but doesn’t fully come down. Once inside, Orton speaks, saying that he wanted to come out here and remind everyone of what happened over the past seven days. “We stepped into the ring with Daniel Bryan and CM Punk and, when it was all said and done, we left them out cold. If that wasn’t enough proof that they not only aren’t in our league, but that they should just forfeit this Sunday’s match and save face, then I don’t know what is.” Batista adds that while they should give up and no show Hell in a Cell, he wants them to be there. “Since I returned, Daniel Bryan has been nothing but a giant thorn in my side, taking victories that should have been mine. As for CM Punk, we’ve all heard him bitch about me returning and taking his spot.” Before he can continue, “Cult of Personality” plays and CM Punk steps out onto the stage. Commentary informs us that due to the actions of Batista and Orton on Smackdown, Daniel Bryan is not here tonight. Punk says that even though Bryan is resting at home, he has promised him that he will be ready come Sunday. “You’ve got something wrong there Batista. I didn’t ‘bitch’ about you taking my spot. You could never take my spot because you can’t fill my boots. You two are the ones that don’t hold a candle to myself and Daniel Bryan. We aren’t just doing this because we want the titles or because we flat out don’t like you. Daniel and I represent something. We represent the guys that were never supposed to be here. You two embody what a WWE Superstar is supposed to look like, but we’re going to show the world that that doesn’t matter one bit.” Randy Orton cuts him off and dares Punk to enter the Cell with the two of them right now. CM Punk begins to walk towards the ring, showing no fear as he slides in. Batista and Randy Orton immediately put the boots to him. Punk does his best to fight them off, but he’s at a severe disadvantage. The Shield’s theme hits to a massive pop as Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins begin trekking their way down through the stands. Batista and Orton stand, ready to fight, but once the Shield hop over the guardrail, they wisely exit the ring. As they back up the ramp, Stephanie McMahon steps through the curtain and onto the stage. She tries to calm things down and says that Batista and Randy Orton deserve the night off before Hell in a Cell. “But you Punk…you clearly want to start a fight so tonight, with Daniel Bryan out, you will take one member of the Shield into that very ring with you against Mr. Money in the Bank Bad News Barrett and the Intercontinental Champion Sheamus.”
SURVIVAL TRIALS – ADRIAN NEVILLE (6) VS. SAMI ZAYN (6); Some of the fans in attendance are buzzing, knowing that they are seeing a bit of a dream match here. Sami Zayn has spent a good chunk of 2014 chasing the NXT Championship that Adrian Neville held at one point. He was dethroned by Corey Graves, but now they can see who the better man is. They faced off at the end of 2013, with Neville winning and earning the NXT Title shot where he won the gold. Due to their vast knowledge of each other from matches all around the world, this moves at a very quick pace. Both guys counter each other at every turn, but it is Neville who hits a reverse rana for the very close near fall. He quickly goes up for the Red Arrow, but Sami moves out of the way. Neville slowly gets to his feet, using the turnbuckle to help himself up. Sami smells an opening and runs in with the Helluva Kick, earning two points. Sami Zayn def. Adrian Neville in 10:42!
Sami Zayn quickly gets to his feet and pumps his first, realizing that he’s just beaten someone he was unable to overcome down in NXT. With that win, Sami now has eight points, moving him into sole possession of fourth place, only behind Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and John Cena. Adrian Neville stands up, holding his jaw and shakes hands with his longtime friend, respecting the great competition he got tonight.
Cutting backstage, the Authority is shown in their office. Stephanie McMahon seems pleased with her matchmaking earlier in the evening. Triple H enters and the tension is still very thick between them. Triple H tells her that he likes the idea she had for tonight but he still thinks that things between them are rough. “Look, I’m going to use a separate office. I think it’s best for our differences right now.” Triple H walks off while Stephanie glares at him. Randy Orton asks why she didn’t go after him. Stephanie replies, “You know Randy? I’m at a point where I don’t even care. If he wants to get soft and not do what’s best for business, then I don’t have time for him. Remember, I’m the one named McMahon, I’m in control.”
An ad runs to promote Total Divas. This Sunday, Tyson Kidd and Natalya try to fix their marital problems but tonight, she steps into the ring in a tag team match against her Total Divas rival, Summer Rae. CAMERON AND SUMMER RAE VS. NAOMI AND NATALYA W/ TYSON KIDD; This is a collision of two of the more bitter feuds in the Divas division. Cameron and Naomi have had issues since the Funkadactyls split, while Natalya and Summer never get along on Total Divas. Tyson Kidd spends a good chunk of the match on his cellphone, taking selfies around the ring. It distracts Natalya at one point, allowing Summer to drop her with a spinning heel kick, scoring the win. Cameron and Summer Rae defeat Naomi and Natalya in 3:16!A chorus of boos are heard as Cameron and Summer Rae celebrate their win and head up the ramp. Tyson Kidd looks disappointed in his wife, but she argues with him, blaming him for the loss. He protests, citing that Natalya ruined his selfie. Michael Cole says that their marriage needs all the help it can get.
We go backstage where Adrian Neville is shown icing his jaw after his loss earlier tonight. Some slow, sarcastic clapping can be heard as the Miz walks into the picture. “Neville, Neville, Neville. I’m not surprised that you lost tonight. I mean, it’s clear to the Universe that you have the talent but you’re missing the charisma, the personality…the money maker. Before we meet at Hell in a Cell, you need to let my people get in touch with your people. I can make you into a Superstar Neville.” Neville looks annoyed and tells Miz, “For the last time, I’m not taking your help. You are in last place, your ways aren’t very successful.” Neville makes the mistake of turning around to leave, opening himself up for an attack from behind. Miz pounds away on Neville before throwing him into a nearby mirror, shattering it in the process. Miz looks down on Neville, who is writhing in pain and holding his face, before walking off.
Returning from break, the ring is set up for an official contract signing. Triple H is standing in the ring as he will be presiding over things here. He first introduces a man that he’s had some wars with in the past; the current WWE Intercontinental Champion, Sheamus. The “Celtic Warrior” comes out to nothing but boos and of course, he carries the blood stained steel chair to the ring with him. He shakes Triple H’s hand and then our COO brings out the challenger, Dolph Ziggler. Right before Dolph enters, Triple H gets back on the microphone to warn him that this isn’t going to break down into a fight. “I know how these things tend to go. Trust me, I’ve been a part of more than a few contract signings that ended in brawls. Hell in a Cell is six days away and I will not have the two of you do anything that could ruin that match. It wouldn’t be…how should I put this? Best for business.” Dolph doesn’t look very happy with the news, staring a hole through the steel chair and his own blood. He agrees, sitting across from Sheamus. Sheamus speaks before signing, stating that Dolph Ziggler is a “stupid little fella”. He continues, “Have you not learned your lesson boy? You got lucky at SummerSlam. I beat Big E for this title and I’ve beaten everyone thrown in front of me. Cesaro, Roman Reigns, you name them, I’ve beaten them. All of those guys stood a better chance than you because you’re just too small to even have a chance in the ring against me. Hell, look at your buddy Daniel Bryan. It only took me 18 seconds to win the World Title from him. Understand that I could end you in 18 seconds this Sunday if I wanted to. But that’s not what I want. You see this steel chair here? I don’t think it has enough of your blood on it. This Sunday, I’m going to paint it completely red and you won’t just lose your shot at winning this back…you’ll lose your career.” With those haunting promises, Sheamus signs the contract and slides it to Dolph. Dolph stares across at Sheamus, not breaking eye contact. He grabs the contract and signs it before turning to leave. Before he can exit though, a familiar car crash sound is heard and the crowd erupts. WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley steps through the curtain and walks down to the ring. Triple H and Sheamus both look surprised but Dolph Ziggler still hasn’t taken his eyes off of the Intercontinental Champion. Foley enters the ring and picks up a microphone, saying that he just had to come out here. “I was just enjoying a good time…RIGHT HERE in Kansas City, Missouri!” Following the cheap pop, Foley says that with Hell in a Cell just days away, he thought now would be the best time for him to give his input seeing as how he’s been in two of the most barbaric Cell matches of all-time. “Sheamus, you have every right to be confident going into this Sunday. You did indeed destroy Dolph Ziggler at Night of Champions. But look at that man. Do you see that look in Dolph Ziggler’s eyes?” The camera shifts to show Dolph, who has not had a change of expression and continues to burn a hole through Sheamus. “I’ve seen that look before. I had that look at No Way Out 2000 when I stepped into the Cell with my career on the line. Triple H had that look in his eyes on the same night and we ripped each other to shreds. Thumbtacks, steel chairs, barbed wire and even fire. Neither of us was ever the same again! Do you know who else had that look Sheamus? The Undertaker at King of the Ring 1998. Within minutes, the Undertaker had thrown me off of the Cell not once, but twice! You need to understand that just because you did some damage a month ago, it doesn’t mean a damn thing when a man has that look in his eyes!” Sheamus takes a step back, cracking for the first time and looking concerned. Foley continues, saying that regardless of who wins this Sunday, neither of them will ever be the same again. Foley gets close to Sheamus, shouting this but Triple H steps in between them and calms Mick down. Dolph finally picks up a microphone and says “This Sunday, it’s not about stealing the show or showing off. I’m not going to Dallas for any of that. I’m going to hurt you. And I’m going to win back my Intercontinental Title.” Dolph drops the microphone, turns and leaves, breaking eye contact with Sheamus for the first time all night.
SURVIVAL TRIALS – CODY RHODES (10) VS. SETH ROLLINS (6); Last week, Cody Rhodes pulled off the biggest win of the tournament so far when he bested the previously undefeated Roman Reigns and moved into sole possession of first place. Seth Rollins has a date with his Shield brother Reigns this Sunday. Seth looks for momentum, trying for pinfalls after nearly every offensive move. Cody Rhodes is resilient, kicking out of it all and hitting the Disaster Kick. He covers Seth but can only get a near fall. Seth comes back with a buckle bomb and superkick while Cody is on his knees. Seth smells blood, bouncing off the ropes for the Curb Stomp. Cody just manages to avoid it and hits the Cross Rhodes for the finish. Cody Rhodes defeats Seth Rollins in 16:33!The fans cheer, getting more and more behind Cody Rhodes with each passing victory. He now has 12 points thanks to a 6-1 record. Seth Rollins rolls out of the ring, continuing to look disappointed in himself. He falls to 3-4 and finds himself in the middle of the pack in the Survival Trials.
Returning, Renee Young catches up with the man in first place, Cody Rhodes. She asks him how it feels to be on the roll of a lifetime. Cody claim that it’s like nothing he’s never felt before. “When I moved past what my brother did to me, I made it a point to win some gold and make an impact in this company. I don’t call myself the Prince of Pro Wrestling as some smug, fancy nickname. This is what I was born to do. Whether it’s Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins or anybody else in the WWE, nobody will stop me from becoming WWE Champ…” He trails off and the camera pans to the side, revealing John Cena walking over. “I’ll give it to you kid, you are on one hell of a hot streak. You did what I couldn’t. You beat Roman Reigns. You’re in first place. But don’t forget that for the past decade, I’ve been the measuring stick around these parts. You can have the impressive run, but you better know that you have to beat me if you want to be taken seriously around here. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go get ready to get my 12 points just like you. See you Sunday.” Cena walks off leaving Cody flustered. "Ladies and gentlemen, I have just been told of some breaking news. Next week, right here on Monday Night Raw, the owner of the WWE, Mr. McMahon, will be returning to television. It's been over a year since we've seen him on Raw. His reasons for coming? We do not know just yet but next week is officially a can't miss episode" says Michael Cole.
ALEXANDER RUSEV W/ LANA VS. BIG E; Here we have an interesting bout. Alexander Rusev has run through the entire WWE roster, but Big E is a very different animal. He’s one of the few men on the roster that is actually stronger than the “Bulgarian Brute.” These two collide like two badass warriors and it goes on for much longer than your typical Rusev affair. Big E hits a massive splash for a close near fall, but he also is able to kick out from Rusev’s shuffle side kick. Rusev is surprised at this. He looks to Lana, who signals for the Accolade. Before he can apply it though, the theme of the United States Champion hits and Alberto Del Rio comes out to the stage carrying a strange flag. He dares Rusev to come get him. Rusev exits the ring and starts to walk up the ramp but Lana stops him, wanting him to enter the ring. Rusev is too focused on Del Rio and gets counted out. Big E defeats Alexander Rusev via countout in 6:42!Alexander Rusev realizes that he’s been counted out and he starts to throw a fit. Lana tries to calm him down while Big E has his hand raised. Alberto Del Rio has a microphone and speaks to Rusev. “You see this flag right here? It combines my home country of Mexico and the United States, which I represent by holding this title.” Del Rio says that those two nations united give him the strength overcome Bulgaria and Rusev. “You’ve never been pinned and you’ve never submitted in your career. But you’ve also never been locked in the Cross Armbreaker. This Sunday, I make you tap out and end your undefeated streak. But you…you already knew that.” Del Rio winks at Rusev and walks off, while Lana continues to try and calm down the number one contender for the US Title.
A commercial airs, promoting the WWE Network. Tomorrow night on WWE Countdown, we take a look back at the Top Ten Hell in a Cell matches as voted by you, the WWE Universe. The crowd roars as “Stars in the Night” hits and Paige comes down to the ring with a purpose. While she walks, we are taken to a recap of this past Friday night, when AJ Lee snuck up behind Emma and tossed her off of the stage, sending her to the hospital. Cutting back, Paige is in the ring and has a microphone. She demands that AJ Lee come out and face her like a real woman. She gets no response, so she continues. “I know you want the Women’s Title but what you did on Friday took this way past that. It’s not just about proving which one of us is the best, it’s about getting revenge for my friend.” Still no answer from AJ Lee. Paige says that if AJ won’t come to her, she’ll go find her. The crowd roars as she exits the rings and heads to find her challenger. As Paige reaches the curtain she is suddenly knocked back. AJ Lee appears, having leveled Paige. AJ stomps away on the Women’s Champion before going backstage. She quickly returns with a steel chair in hand. “No, not a chair! What the hell has gotten into AJ Lee?” asks Michael Cole. AJ raises the chair over her head but Paige trips her up and stars hammering away with right hands. AJ turns it around and begins choking Paige with the edge of the chair. AJ stands up, backing to the edge to the edge of the stage. She looks over her shoulder to some tables on the ground as a wicked smile widens on her face. “Somebody has got to stop this” exclaims Jerry Lawler. AJ grabs Paige by the hair, looking to throw her off the stage. She charges forward with Paige, but the “Anti-Diva” is able to grab hold of AJ and use that momentum to pull her down, sending both women off the stage and through the table! The crowd chants “HOLY SH*T” while both women lay motionless in the heap of carnage. Medics and officials rush out to try and help them as the show fades to a commercial.
We get a recap of what just went down before the break, as well as some footage from during the break. Both AJ Lee and Paige were helped to the back and sent to a nearby hospital to be checked on. In good news, neither woman needed an ambulance, but the Hell in a Cell match is up in the air. SURVIVAL TRIALS – CHRIS JERICHO (4) VS. JOHN CENA (10); One of the biggest blemishes on the otherwise starling record of Chris Jericho’s career is that he’s never been able to beat John Cena. Bad News Barrett and his Money in the Bank briefcase, which he defends against Jericho this Sunday, is on commentary. Jericho comes close on several occasions but his old nemesis continues to have his number. Jericho does manage to counter the STF into the Walls of Jericho, only for Cena to grabs the ropes. Jericho lets go and steps to Cena, who hoists him up and scores with the Attitude Adjustment to win. John Cena defeats Chris Jericho in 11:30!John Cena is announced as the winner to the delight of the WWE Universe. He now has as many points as Cody Rhodes, sharing a 6-1 record and a tie atop the standings. Speaking of Cody Rhodes, he appears on the stage, clapping for John Cena’s victory. Cena sees this and cracks a small smile. Those two meet this Sunday with first place on the line!
The Survival Trials saw three more great matches tonight and the action continues tomorrow night on the WWE Network. The WWE United States Champion looks to continue his winning ways when he faces the Miz on Main Event!
A special “Hell in a Cell By the Numbers” video package airs, telling us of the destruction that has occurred throughout the near twenty year history of the Hell in a Cell match. BAD NEWS BARRETT AND WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPION SHEAMUS VS. CM PUNK AND ROMAN REIGNS; Bad News Barrett sticks around after his commentary from the previous match. CM Punk shows up first and when the Shield’s music hits, Roman Reigns comes out, showing that Punk made his decision. It also works as a preview for Sheamus’ Survival Trials match with Reigns this Friday on Smackdown. Both teams go hard from the opening bell, holding nothing back. Sheamus and Barrett are brutes, clubbing away at CM Punk. Punk is able to slip free and make the tag to Reigns, who comes in on complete fire. As he sets up for the Spear on Sheamus, he is tripped and pulled out of the ring by Kane. CM Punk and Roman Reigns defeat Bad News Barrett and Sheamus via disqualification in 7:23!Kane strikes Roman Reigns with a throat thrust, but Reigns fires back. The WWE Tag Team Champions, Batista and Randy Orton run down to the ring, looking to take full advantage of CM Punk with no Daniel Bryan in the arena. Sheamus and Bad News Barrett join in on the assault, all four men putting the boots to Punk until Dolph Ziggler rushes out. He is quickly joined by Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins, who come in through the crowd and we’ve got a full scale war going. Punk dives outside onto Orton, fighting with him and Batista. Ziggler and Sheamus spill to the outside as well, going to war. Reigns enters the ring and the Shield are in control, having thrown Kane into the steel steps and now stand alone with Barrett. They call for the Triple Powerbomb but Barrett slips out of their grip. Seth swings at him, but Barrett ducks and gets behind him. Reigns strikes him, knocking him aside just as Seth tries the Pele kick, inadvertently striking Reigns. Reigns staggers back to the ropes before stepping to Seth’s face. They argue and Dean steps in between them, looking to keep the peace. They nearly come to blows while the wars continue to rage on the outside as Raw comes to an end.
1. Cody Rhodes (6-1, 12 points) 1. John Cena (6-1, 12 points) 3. Roman Reigns (5-1, 10 points) 4. Sami Zayn (4-3, 8 points) 5. Bad News Barrett (3-3, 6 points) 6. Seth Rollins (3-4, 6 points) 7. WWE Main Event: October 21st, 2014 – Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas SURVIVAL TRIALS – ALBERTO DEL RIO (4) VS. THE MIZ (2); It’s no secret that the Miz has struggled during the Survival Trials, having just one victory, though it did come against the man currently in first place, Cody Rhodes. Alberto Del Rio started cold before reeling off two straight wins. Most of the Miz’s offense is directed towards the head of Del Rio, while the US Champion goes after the right arm. Miz goes for the Skull Crushing Finale, but he has to let go due to the pain in his arm. Del Rio takes advantage, slapping on the Cross Armbreaker and making the “A-Lister” submit. Alberto Del Rio defeats the Miz in 7:53!
Alberto Del Rio hops to his feet and beats his chest in celebration. He has now won three straight matches in the Survival Trials after starting out 0-4. The Miz continues to look lost, sitting in dead last in the Survival Trials. Del Rio has momentum on his side heading into his United States Title defense against Alexander Rusev at Hell in a Cell.
1. Cody Rhodes (6-1, 12 points) 1. John Cena (6-1, 12 points) 3. Roman Reigns (5-1, 10 points) 4. Sami Zayn (4-3, 8 points) 5. Bad News Barrett (3-3, 6 points) 6. Seth Rollins (3-4, 6 points) 7. WWE NXT: October 23rd, 2014 – Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida
To open the broadcast, a video package is shown, highlighting the first two matches in the Charlotte/Sasha Banks series. We see Charlotte retain the NXT Women’s Championship over Sasha at TakeOver: R-Evolution last month in a hard fought match. Then, earlier this month, Sasha captured the title from Charlotte in a Two out of Three Falls match at Divas Smackdown. The video lasts a few minutes, with voiceovers from both Sasha and Charlotte. Charlotte speaks about being “genetically superior”, saying that being champion is her birthright. Sasha responds, “Charlotte’s right. I wasn’t born into this business. None of my family members did what I do for a living. I didn’t get here because of my last name. I got here because I’m damn good. I got this title because I’m the best” Tonight, we will witness the historic rubber match between two of the best females on the planet.
NXT WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP – SASHA BANKS (C) VS. CHARLOTTE; There seems to be a buzz in the crowd as they anticipate this contest after their first two matches were great. Charlotte offers a handshake but Sasha slaps it away and they lock up. The first few minutes of this bout sees both women jockey for position. They’ve come to know each other so well over their time together in the Beautiful Fierce Females and matches against one another that they’re ready for each other’s offense. Neither girl wants to make the first mistake, so they work at a very deliberate pace, never gaining a clear advantage. The first one to slip up is Sasha, overreaching on a hold, allowing Charlotte to turn it over and gain control. She channels her father by firing off a rapid fire series of chops. Sasha turns it around, hitting a bunch of her own, complete with her own “woos” in between each one. She even busts out a strut, fully mocking Ric Flair. This angers Charlotte, who connects on a vicious spear and reels off some hard right hands. At this point, this match has now exceeded two commercial breaks. Sasha Banks takes back over using a suicide dive to the outside. Once back in, Sasha tries multiple pinning combinations but is never able to fully put Charlotte away. Sasha’s face grows in frustration, upset with herself for not being able to keep her title yet. She sends Charlotte into the corner and connects on her double knee drop for yet another near fall. Sasha looks for the Bank Statement but Charlotte wriggle free and rolls her up for two. As they get up, Charlotte hits a neckbreaker and climbs to the top, struggling to get up there due to exhaustion. She shows some incredible stamina by leaping off with a moonsault. Sasha rolls away and Charlotte lands on her feet before immediately flipping over in a senton. Thanks to their previous matches, Sasha is ready for this and gets her knees up. “These women have been going at it this for over thirty minutes now, they have to be about ready to collapse” says Renee Young. Sasha locks in the Bank Statement and Charlotte struggles. You can see the pain in her face, but she rolls back and into a pin for two. Sasha charges but Charlotte is ready, tripping her up and applying the figure four! Sasha is now the one in massive pain, writhing around hopelessly before grabbing the ropes. Charlotte shows frustration now but sees an opening when Sasha gets to her knees. She scores with Natural Selection and instantly covers but Sasha somehow gets a shoulder up. Charlotte angrily pounds the mat but catches another opening. She manages to hit Natural Selection a second time and the crowd knows it over. Charlotte lays on Sasha and covers. 1….2……NO! Sasha gets her foot on the bottom rope, breaking the pin. You can see the tears forming in Charlotte’s eyes as she is clueless about what to try next, especially with only a few minutes remaining in the entire episode. She grabs Sasha and seems to be looking for a super Natural Selection. Sasha fights out of it and turns around to deliver shots. She goes up top and hits a huge superplex. As quickly as she is able to, she transitions over and rolls into the Bank Statement, wrenching back harder by the second. Finally, Charlotte taps out and gives up. Sasha Banks defeats Charlotte to retain the NXT Women’s Championship in 43:07!The entire capacity of fans in Full Sail University come to their feet to give a standing ovation to the performance they just witnessed by these two women. “I have never witnessed anything quite like that” says Tom Phillips. Sasha Banks and Charlotte both lay in the center of the ring, completely worn out, while the crowd continues to applaud. Sasha stirs first, using the ropes to help herself up. The referee hands her the NXT Women’s Title, which she is barely able to raise up. Even the commentary team is standing and applauding. Charlotte gets to her feet, offering a handshake but just like at the start of the match, Sasha declines, choosing to head up the ramp with her title. Other matches were planned for this evening, but there is no time left after that outing from two of the very best.

WWE Live Event: October 25th, 2014 – Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TexasTheme Song: "Survival" by Eminem
SURVIVAL TRIALS – ALBERTO DEL RIO (6) VS. SHEAMUS (4); On the final stop before Hell in a Cell, the only two men not involved in Survival Trial matches tomorrow night square off. Both men have major defenses of their Intercontinental and United States Titles at Hell in a Cell, but can’t look past this important bout tonight. They’ve faced each other plenty of times in the past so they know one another very well. Alberto Del Rio targets the arm, while Sheamus just chooses to pound away viciously. He is heard shouting “THIS IS FOR YOU DOLPH” a few times during the match. He goes for the Brogue Kick but Del Rio ducks and scores with a huge superkick. Sheamus staggers but doesn’t fall. Del Rio hits a second kick, dropping him to his knees before finally using a third, scoring the three count. Alberto Del Rio defeats Sheamus in 12:16!
Talk about a turnaround. After starting the Survival Trials a disappointing 0-4, the United States Champion Alberto Del Rio has now reeled off four straight wins to move all the way up to fourth place in the standings. Sheamus, the reigning Intercontinental Champion has struggled thus far, falling to 2-6. Del Rio is riding a massive wave of momentum heading into his title defense against Alexander Rusev tomorrow night. Could he finally be the one to defeat the unstoppable “Bulgarian Brute”?
1. Cody Rhodes (6-1, 12 points) 2. Roman Reigns (6-1, 12 points) 3. John Cena (6-1, 12 points) 4. Sami Zayn (4-3, 8 points) 5. Alberto Del Rio (4-4, 8 points) 6. Dean Ambrose (3-4, 6 points) 7. It’s the official Hell in a Cell Kickoff Show, presented by Mountain Dew Kickstart! After seeing members of the WWE Universe filing into the arena, we cut to Renee Young, our host for the Kickoff show. She welcomes the viewers to the show and introduces the rest of her panel, which includes Hall of Famer Booker T, Alex Riley and WWE’s resident high flyer, Kofi Kingston. The first order of business for the panel is to discuss the historic first ever Divas Hell in a Cell match. This past Monday night on Raw, Paige looked for revenge after AJ Lee threw her best friend Emma off of the stage. It didn’t go very well, with both Paige and AJ falling off the stage and crashing through two tables. Despite being banged up, both women are indeed here tonight and will compete. They move onto discussing the United States Championship match between the red hot Alberto Del Rio and the undefeated “Bulgarian Brute” Alexander Rusev. Only Booker T believes that Rusev’s streak will come to an end tonight. Kofi Kingston handles the Survival Trials portion of the Kickoff Show, stating that he’s still upset he wasn’t included. He takes us to a video package that recaps the entire tournament so far. We see some of the surprising moments like Roman Reigns beating John Cena, the Miz beating Cody Rhodes and Rhodes defeating Reigns to take first place. When the video ends, Kofi predicts that Cody will also beat Cena tonight. Booker, Renee and Alex are taken aback by that statement, with Riley predicting that Cena will win out the rest of the tournament. Before discussing the other two Hell in a Cell matches, Renee sends it to the ring for our opening contest. SURVIVAL TRIALS – ADRIAN NEVILLE (6) VS. THE MIZ (2); What started out as a standard Survival Trials match has taken on a much more personal feel. The Miz has offered to spice up Adrian Neville’s personality but Neville declined. Miz threw Neville into a mirror this past week and Neville attacked him on MizTV at Smackdown. There is no lockup here because Neville goes right after Miz with right hands. He swings so hard that one of the bandages on his face falls clean off. “Miz seems to have struck a chord with Adrian Neville” says John “Bradshaw” Layfield. Miz rolls outside to take a breather but Neville is relentless, bouncing off the ropes and hitting a gorgeous corkscrew moonsault and taking the Miz out. Neville continues to be aggressive, slamming Miz’s “moneymaker” into the announce table a few times. Miz must scurry away but once back inside, he gets in some stomps. Miz takes over now, wearing down Neville and working on his leg, looking to prevent him from hitting the devastating Red Arrow. Miz hits the Awesome Clothesline in the corner before going right back to stomping on the leg. “This focused attack on the knee is brilliant” says JBL. Miz starts wrapping Neville’s leg around the ring post, continuing the attack. He locks in the Figure Four and Neville is writhing in pain. He manages to muster up the strength to reach the ropes and break the hold. Miz pounces for the Skull Crushing Finale, but Neville counters into a rollup for two. As Miz kicks out, Neville grabs him around the waist, dead lifting him for a German suplex. Neville climbs to the top, calling for the Red Arrow. However, his leg gives out and he fall, crotching himself on the top rope. He falls all the way to the mat, where Miz quickly applies the Figure Four again. Neville fights hard but the pain is too much and he taps out. The Miz defeats Adrian Neville in 8:47!Boos rain down from the WWE Universe in Dallas as the Miz has his hand raised. He has struggled throughout this tournament, but now holds victories over Adrian Neville and Cody Rhodes. Neville lays on the ground, holding his knee. For one night at least, it seems like Neville should have taken Miz’s advice. Cutting back to our esteemed panel, Renee Young leads a discussion on the Intercontinental Title Hell in a Cell match between Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler. They inform us that it will be opening the official Pay-Per-View broadcast. They remind us that this is the first time the title will be defended in the Cell as well as the first time Dolph Ziggler will enter it. A recap airs of Mick Foley appearing at the official contract signing, where Ziggler showed next to no emotions, refusing to break eye contact with the man who took him out at Night of Champions. The final match touched upon will be our main event as Batista and Randy Orton will put their Tag Team Titles on the line against CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. This war between Punk, Bryan and the Authority has waged on for over a year but it all comes to a head inside of the Devil’s Playground tonight. A video package highlighting their feud, set to “Crooked Smiles” by Framing Hanley.
The official Pay-Per-View opens with the WWE Signature before moving to a video package that not only focuses on the rivalries leading into tonight’s event, but also the history of carnage we’ve grown to know throughout the history of Hell in a Cell matches. Mick Foley getting tossed off and through the Cell in 1998, Shawn Michaels falling off the side in 1997, Cactus Jack going through the Cell in 2000 and Rikishi falling off in the Armageddon Cell match are just some of the old clips played in this video package. The feed then cuts to the sold out arena in Dallas, Texas as pyro shoots off in the entrance. Michael Cole, Jerry “the King” Lawler and John “Bradshaw” Layfield welcome the viewers at home to tonight’s huge event. Some of the biggest Survival Trials matches and three Hell in a Cell matches will go down tonight. WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP HELL IN A CELL MATCH – SHEAMUS (C) VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER; Gone is the cocky demeanor and “Showoff” mentality of Dolph Ziggler. His eyes are fixated on Sheamus as he walks down to the ring. Once Sheamus enters the Cell, Dolph pounces, diving over the top and laying into Sheamus with right hands. Ziggler sends Sheamus face first into the steel, then grates the champions’ face across it. “Dolph Ziggler is out for the blood that Sheamus took from him at Night of Champions. An eye for an eye” says Michael Cole. Ziggler continues to drive his right hand into Sheamus’ forehead over and over. He walks over to the entrance of the Cell, picking up the blood stained steel chair and holding it high in the air while the crowd erupts. He swings but misses and hits the ring post, hurting his hands. Sheamus uses this opening to swing the momentum. He rolls Ziggler into the ring and continues the offensive onslaught. Sheamus reels off multiple big blows including the Irish Curse backbreaker and White Noise. Sheamus now gets the steel chair, raising it to a chorus of boos. “Oh no, not this again” says Jerry Lawler. Sheamus cracks Ziggler in the back with the steel chair first. Ziggler rolls over onto his back, writhing in pain. Sheamus takes the edge of the chair and bashes it into his ribcage repeatedly. Sheamus tosses the chair aside and picks up Ziggler, who struggles to get to his feet. Sheamus backs up, going for the Brogue Kick, but Ziggler manages to duck. As Sheamus bounces back, he scores with a superkick, knocking the champion back to the outside. Ziggler pounces out there with more offensive moves. He leaps from the apron with a huge DDT, planting Sheamus headfirst on the floor. He whips Sheamus into the steel steps, knocking them over. Ziggler slides the steel steps into the ring as Sheamus starts to get to his feet. He grabs Sheamus but gets clobbered in the midsection and tossed into the steel grating. Sheamus turns him around and delivers the Beats of Bodhran, turning Ziggler’s chest into a bright shade of pink. He shouts “FELLA” as he lets Ziggler’s body crumple to the ground. Sheamus backs up as Ziggler gets up and tries a Brogue Kick again. Dolph avoids it and Sheamus kicks the ring post. Ziggler goes for the Zig Zag on the outside, slamming the back of Sheamus’ head into the steel grating! “That might have been the most violent Zig Zag I’ve ever seen” says JBL. He struggles but rolls Sheamus inside and covers him, only getting a two count though. Ziggler is in disbelief but his faces changes to a blend of sick and thoughtful as he sees the blood stained steel chair. The crowd comes alive as he picks it up, waiting for Sheamus to rise. He cracks Sheamus across the skull with one massive shot. Sheamus stumbles back into the ropes, slowly bouncing off. Dolph positions himself behind him and plants him with a second Zig Zag onto the steel steps, earning revenge, the victory and the Intercontinental Championship. Dolph Ziggler defeats Sheamus to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship in 17:18!“Dolph Ziggler has done it!” states Michael Cole as the celebration rages on. The WWE Universe comes to their feet as Dolph Ziggler is handed the WWE Intercontinental Championship by the official. His first foray into the Hell in a Cell turns out to be successful. Not only does he regain his gold, but he earns a measure of revenge on Sheamus for taking him out at Night of Champions. Dolph raises the title and the blood stained steel chair high in the air, letting out a loud yell as the Cell raises to the rafters.
An advertisement runs to promote the WWE Network. It is set in black and white, while the final promo from the Ultimate Warrior before his untimely death is heard over various images and clips of Superstars, Divas and fans. As we cut to the backstage area, we see the Authority in their office. Stephanie McMahon is not happy about the outcome of the opening contest. She gets in Bad News Barrett’s face, telling him that he needs to keep the Money in the Bank briefcase in his possession tonight. “Tonight is not about us gaining anything. We are the ones defending it all. The Intercontinental Title. That briefcase. The Tag Team Titles. Triple H needs to be shown that we do not only works, but is what’s best for business, so I will not have tonight be a failure. My father is coming back tomorrow night and I will not be embarrassed dammit!” MONEY IN THE BANK BRIEFCASE SURVIVAL TRIALS – BAD NEWS BARRETT (6) VS. CHRIS JERICHO (4); It’s interesting to see that, of all of the Survival Trial matches so far, this one just might have the highest stakes. Bad News Barrett watches the referee raise the Money in the Bank briefcase high in the air with concern on his face. Once the bell rings, Barrett seems to flip a switch, gaining confidence and smack talking Chris Jericho. Jericho responds with a right hand, flooring his former NXT rookie. Jericho stays in control, grounding Barrett and targeting his lower back. He goes for the Walls of Jericho, but Barrett kicks off and rolls outside for a breather. “Wise move by Mr. Money in the Bank” says John “Bradshaw” Layfield. Once back inside, Barrett starts to fare better, pounding away on Jericho and really focusing his attacks on the head. Barrett straight up stomps on his head in vicious fashion at one point, causing Jericho to roll towards the corner, holding the side of his head. Barrett sees an opening as Jericho’s head is resting next to the ring post. He goes outside and turns his elbow pad inside out. “Oh my god, Barrett is going to try and concuss Jericho” says Michael Cole. He takes a massive swing but Jericho gets out of the way just in the nick of time, causing Barrett’s elbow to smack into the post. He hunches over in agony, holding his elbow. Barrett climbs up onto the apron where Jericho greets him with a springboard dropkick, knocking him back outside. The referee starts the count but Barrett beats it just before it reaches ten. Jericho quickly goes for the Lionsault, but Barrett gets his knees up. He stands up and looks for the Bull Hammer but has to lower his arm instantly in pain. Jericho charges and tries the Codebreaker, but Barrett hooks the ropes, blocking it. He quickly covers Jericho, who kicks out and goes right into the Walls of Jericho. Barrett is close to the ropes still, grabbing on for dear life. Jericho goes high risk, climbing to the top. He leaps off, but Barrett is ready, catching him with a left handed Bull Hammer! He covers to retain his Money in the Bank briefcase. Bad News Barrett defeats Chris Jericho in 8:23!Bad News Barrett rises to his feet, still clutching his banged up right elbow. He was able to overcome it and use his left elbow to obtain the victory. “King, normally the left elbow wouldn’t be as effective, but when you add in the momentum of Chris Jericho coming off the top rope, you’ve got a brilliantly executed move by Bad News Barrett” says Michael Cole. Barrett uses his good left arm to raise his Money in the Bank briefcase high in the air. He not only retained that, but now has eight points in the Survival Trials, moving him into fourth place.
A commercial runs for the brand new WWE 2K15 video game, which sponsors tonight’s Pay-Per-View. For the first time ever, you can play as your favorite WWE Superstars, Divas and Legends on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Things are now thrown to the Kickoff Panel. If you missed it earlier, Renee Young, Alex Riley, Booker T and Kofi Kingston are hosts this month. They discuss the two matches we’ve seen so far, with all of them surprised at the lengths that Dolph Ziggler went to in recapturing the Intercontinental Championship. Renee takes us back to the Kickoff Show, where the Miz took on Adrian Neville. Neville has had more than his share of issues with the Miz in recent weeks, even being thrown into a mirror this past week. Unfortunately for him, he couldn’t get revenge tonight as Miz bested him and scored two more points in the Survival Trials. SURVIVAL TRIALS – DEAN AMBROSE (6) VS. SAMI ZAYN (8); His brothers square off later tonight, but for right now, Dean Ambrose is solely focused on Sami Zayn. Zayn, one half of the NXT Tag Team Champions, offers a handshake before the match. Ambrose gives it a weird look and gives it kind of a slap. Sami smirks and they lock up. Both men struggle for an early upper hand but it is Sami, using his quickness, who gets the first advantage. He does so again, causing Ambrose to slap the mat in frustration. “I don’t think Dean Ambrose expected this from Sami Zayn” says Jerry Lawler. When Sami nearly outmaneuvers Dean for a third time, Ambrose pulls him back by his tights and strikes with a knee to the spine. Dean smiles and points to his head, implying that he outsmarted Sami. We now get Dean going into some of his traditionally wild offense. He gets Sami in the corner and reels off chops and punches. Sami turns it around, putting him in the corner and chopping away. Dean switches and goes back to his offense before Sami ducks a right hand and hits the corner exploder. “This has not taken any time at all to really get going” says Michael Cole. Sami runs in, looking for the Helluva Kick but Dean drops down and rolls to the outside. Sami goes for a dive and Dean again avoids it, so Sami backflips off the top rope, landing safely in the ring and continuing to frustrate and annoy the former US Champion. Dean comes in and takes down Sami, laying into him with multiple strikes. He climbs to the as Sami gets to his feet, connecting on a big elbow drop for a near fall. Dean sets for a double arm DDT but Sami spins out and catches him in a huge Blue Thunder Bomb that also only earns a two count. Sami is surprised at this, discussing it with the official. It gives Dean the chance to get up and run forward, but Sami is ready, locking him in the Koji Clutch! The crowd chants “please don’t tap” as Dean frantically searches for the ropes. He’s too far from any of them so he instead manages to roll over, pinning Sami’s shoulders to the mat to put him away. Dean Ambrose defeats Sami Zayn in 8:30!The closing bell sounds and Dean Ambrose is officially declared the winner. Sami Zayn gets to his knees, in disbelief that he let a potential victory slip through his fingers. Had he won, Sami would have moved within just two points of Cody Rhodes, John Cena and Roman Reigns, who are tied with the most. Dean Ambrose slides out of the ring with a grin, evening his record in the Survival Trials at 4-4.
We are now taken to an ad for the WWE’s partnership with Susan G. Komen to raise awareness for Breast Cancer throughout the month of October. Various Superstars and Divas discuss how the disease have impacted their respective lives. As we see the ominous Hell in a Cell lowering, a video package is now shown, going back to the middle of last year. AJ Lee wins the Divas Title from Kaitlyn at Payback, realizing her childhood dream and taking the Divas division by storm. While AJ Lee sent back challenges from every Divas imaginable, all the while putting down the Total Divas show, another woman was making waves in NXT. The “Anti-Diva” Paige bested Emma in the finals of a tournament to crown the first ever NXT Women’s Champion. AJ Lee set the record for longest reigning Divas Champion but constantly kept hearing about Paige. The night after WrestleMania XXX, when AJ retained her gold against thirteen other women, Paige made her main roster debut and instantly challenged her. AJ shrugged it off until they met at Extreme Rules in a Submissions match. AJ retained as Paige passed out while in the Black Widow. Not satisfied with that win, AJ challenged Paige once more, this time in Paige’s home country of England. There, in front of her mother, Paige ended AJ’s reign and won the Divas Championship. AJ Lee disappeared for months while Paige brought back the Women’s Championship. She sent back all challengers until AJ Lee returned. They had their rubber match at the historic Divas Smackdown event, only to have it interrupted by the Bella Twins. They agreed to meet inside of Hell in a Cell but as the match grew closer, things got more personal. After several brawls, AJ targeted Paige’s best friend Emma, tossing her off of the Smackdown stage. A distraught Paige called out AJ and both women ended up falling off of the Raw stage and through two tables. They haven’t been seen since, but tonight, it all finally comes to a head in a history making match. WWE WOMEN’S CHAMPIONSHIP HELL IN A CELL MATCH – PAIGE (C) VS. AJ LEE; Both women show up with various wraps and bandages on from their fall this past Monday. Paige comes out second, slamming the Cell door hard behind her. AJ Lee wastes no time, sprinting through the middle rope and diving onto Paige. She lays into the Women’s Champion, but Paige holds nothing back, turning it around and firing away on the challenger. “These two women are just going to war” says Michael Cole. Paige picks up AJ and throws her violently into the steel steps. Not content with that, Paige tries to grate AJ’s face into the steel side of the Cell, but AJ blocks it with her foot. She elbows Paige in the ribs and smashes her face into it instead. AJ slides Paige into the ring and pulls out a steel chair from under the ring. “Oh no, this is getting way out of hand” says Jerry Lawler. AJ shouts for Paige to get up and when she does, she takes a healthy cut with the chair. Luckily, Paige ducks, goes behind AJ and nails a German suplex. Paige rolls onto the apron, while AJ Lee uses the ropes to help herself up. Paige sees an opening, grabbing AJ and firing off a bunch of hard knee strikes in a row. AJ falls to the mat, Paige follows in and delivers multiple headbutts, showing no remorse. She picks up AJ and hits the Paige Turner, covering but only getting a near fall. An angry look flashes across her face as she slides outside and aggressively lifts the ring apron skirt. The crowd comes unglued as she pulls a table out from there and puts it in the ring. She sets it up but has her back to AJ for too long, getting whacked with a steel chair. AJ follows with a second shot to the back before covering Paige, yet only getting two. AJ grabs the chair again and charges forward, but Paige is ready with a side kick, sending her staggering back. Paige’s back is beet red from the chair shots and you can see a bruise starting to form. She holds her back and runs at AJ in the corner, but is greeted with a kick. AJ climbs to the second rope and comes off with a cross body for another near fall. She wastes no time, moving into the Black Window! “Is Paige going to tap this time? She has taken a lot of damage so far” says JBL. Paige somehow musters up the strength to take steps to the corner and backs AJ into it, breaking the hold. Paige turns around and sits AJ on the top rope. She looks back at the table behind her and the crowd realizes that she has some bad plans circling around her head. Paige climbs to the second rope, hooking AJ for a superplex through the table. Out of desperation, AJ fights her off, preventing the move. She levels Paige with two right hands before shoving her back. Paige nearly falls, but grabs the top rope to hold on. She pulls herself up but AJ shoves her again. This time one of Paige’s hands slips, though she still barely manages to hold on. AJ tries a third shove but Paige grabs her with the free hand and strikes with a headbutt. She hooks AJ again, but not for a superplex this time. Instead, she also grabs her legs, coming off the second rope with a massive Ram-Paige through the table! “Holy shit” chants are heard from the Dallas crowd, who are stunned at this turn of events. Both women are severely hurt but Paige manages to barely drape her arm over AJ, getting the pin and winning the rubber match. Paige defeats AJ Lee to retain the WWE Women’s Championship in 12:21!The Dallas crowd rises to their feet, giving a standing ovation to the performances of two of the toughest women in the history of the WWE. “We knew damn well this would be violent, but I don’t think anyone imagined it would involve steel chair shots and a damn Ram-Paige off the second rope through a table” says John “Bradshaw” Layfield. Outside of barely making the cover, Paige hasn’t moved much and AJ is still motionless. The referee calls for EMTs and medics to come out and help. As some show up, they’re able to help Paige exit the ring and help her to the backstage area. AJ is a different story as she is placed in a neck brace and a stretcher is brought out as the camera fades out.
Going backstage, Eden Stiles is standing by with the men getting a shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles tonight, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. Eden says that even though both men have stepped inside of the Hell in a Cell before, tonight has shown that things are more violent than ever inside those confines. Bryan speaks first saying that it doesn’t matter to them how physical things get tonight. “We are here to win the Tag Team Titles and hurt Batista and Randy Orton and that’s just what we’re going to do.” Punk, in his signature hoodie, talks next, saying that the previous two Cell matches were indeed very violent. “With everything that Batista, Randy Orton and the Authority have done to the two of us in the past, you haven’t seen anything yet. Parents, you may want to put the kiddies to bed early because this will not be for the faint of heart, this will not be for those of you with weak stomachs, this will not be for anyone that doesn’t like blood. Tonight is going to be a war and there will be casualties.” WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP – ALBERTO DEL RIO (C) VS. ALEXANDER RUSEV W/ LANA; Lana and Alexander Rusev wave the Bulgarian flag around, while Alberto Del Rio has his custom Mex-America flag. Rusev isn’t about to wait, attacking Del Rio as he put the flag outside, gaining an early advantage. He clubs away on Del Rio’s back, focusing all of his offensive onslaughts on that part of the body. “This is a wise strategy by Rusev, he wants to set up for that Accolade later” says Jerry Lawler. With Del Rio worn down and on the mat, Rusev comes off the ropes for a diving headbutt but Del Rio rolls out of the way. Del Rio now pounces, kicking away at Rusev’s arm, backing him into the corner. He runs in with a big enziguri that actually puts Rusev down on the mat. He covers but Rusev kicks out as hard as possible. Del Rio doesn’t take time to react to the inability to keep him down, picking Rusev back up. “Picking Rusev up may be a crucial mistake” says JBL. He surprises people with the strength to belly to belly suplex Rusev for another near fall. Del Rio whips him into the corner and charges but Rusev gets his elbow up. He sits Del Rio on the top and hoists him up for a super fallaway slam. Del Rio elbows his way out of it, slips under Rusev and somehow gets him tied up in the tree of woe. The fans cheer as Rusev finds himself in a compromising position. Del Rio goes to the apron, climbs to the top rope over Rusev and jumps down with a brutal double stomp. He has an opening, covering Rusev for the closest near fall in the undefeated run of Rusev so far. This time, Del Rio stops to check with the referee if the count was correct. He backs up to the corner, slapping his wrist in preparation for the Cross Armbreaker. Rusev staggers to his feet, in more trouble than ever before, and Del Rio goes for the submission. Rusev manages to avoid it and hits a big spinning side slam. Lana screams “CRUUUUSSSSHHH” from ringside as Rusev stomps on Del Rio’s back and locks in the Accolade. The pain is clear on Del Rio’s face as he fights to try and find a way out. It’s a futile effort though, as Del Rio is forced to submit. Alexander Rusev defeats Alberto Del Rio to win the WWE United States Championship in 6:51!A wide smile spreads across the face of Lana as she goes around the ring and snatches the United States Title from ringside. Alexander Rusev doesn’t let go of the Accolade until she enters the ring and gives the signal. Once he releases it, she hands him the United States Title. Rusev looks at it before raising it high in the air and celebrating like a madman. “Who, if anyone, is going to be able to take that title from Rusev? Nobody has even been able to defeat him yet” says Michael Cole. Rusev and Lana leave the ring, while Del Rio is left laid out in the middle of the ring.
The theme song for the Survival Trials, “Survival” by Eminem, plays as we are taken to a video package. It first shows a wwe.com poll asking fans who they believe had the best chance of winning the tournament. John Cena came in first by a fair margin. Cody Rhodes, his opponent for tonight, finished 8th out of 12. While Cena jumped out to an unbeaten start, Cody suffered a tough loss to the man currently in last place, the Miz. However, Cena would lose to Roman Reigns, while Cody kept winning. Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins and others all fell to Cody’s surprising run. Then, one week after the unbeaten Roman Reigns pinned Cena, Cody went out and defeated him! Entering tonight, to the surprise of many, Cody and Cena are tied (with Reigns) atop the standings with 12 points, but Cody is in first thanks to the tiebreaker. Before the video finishes, we see Cena’s recent words for Cody, telling him that he is still the measuring stick around here and if Cody wants to prove something, he has to beat him. SURVIVAL TRIALS – CODY RHODES (12) VS. JOHN CENA (12); Getting back to Survival Trials matches, we haven’t had one this big just yet. Cody Rhodes and John Cena come face to face, clearing trading words. Cena offers a handshake, which Cody accepts. They lock up and go back and forth early on. Cena overpowers Cody a few times, but Cody uses his speed to outmaneuver the former 14 time World Champion. Cena gives a sly smirk when Cody bests him, seemingly impressed. They go at it again, with Cody slipping behind Cena, slamming him to the mat and peppering him in the back of the head. Now Cena rolls outside and looks a bit annoyed with Cody. “I sense a little confidence and arrogance from Cody Rhodes tonight” says Michael Cole. Cena gets back inside and both men trade offense for a bit. Shoulder blocks from Cena are followed by his usual stuff and he calls for the Five Knuckle Shuffle. As he does the “you can’t see me” part, Cody lifts his foot and kicks him in the face. He runs forward, Cena ducks, and Cody springboards off the second rope with the Disaster Kick. He covers Cena for a near fall. Cody knows that he needs to take risks to beat someone like Cena, climbing to the top. He comes off with a moonsault but the ever powerful Cena catches him on his shoulder. He turns Cody to the side and nails the Attitude Adjustment. Cena covers but to the surprise of the WWE Universe, Cody gets his shoulder up. “My goodness, did Cody Rhodes really just kick out of an AA?” asks Jerry Lawler. A stunned Cena looks shocked but gets back on the offensive, sending Cody off the ropes. Cena sets for a back body drop but Cody stops, drops and nails an uppercut. Cena staggers back into the corner, where Cody sits him up top. He grabs him in position and scores with a vicious looking muscle buster. The crowd pops but Cena again manages to kick out. Cody knows that he still has one item in his bag of tricks, picking Cena up and hitting Cross Rhodes! He takes a moment before pinning Cena, who still gets a shoulder up. The crowd can’t believe what they’re seeing. Cody is at a loss for what to do now. He literally stands around, while Cena is on the ground, in confusion. As he goes to grab Cena, he is tripped up and put in the STF! “Is Cody gonna tap? He’s given this everything he’s got already” says Michael Cole. Cody is on agony, desperately trying to reach the ropes. Cena wrenches back as hard as possible just as Cody’s fingertips grasp the bottom rope. Cena has to release the hold and is out of breath as he rolls over. Cena stands behind Cody, waiting for him to get up. He hoists him up for a second AA, but Cody lands on his feet. He immediately springboards off the second rope with a Disaster Kick. Cena stumbles back to the ropes, bounces off right into a second Cross Rhodes from Cody, which is enough to defeat him. Cody Rhodes defeats John Cena in 14:03!
A mixture of cheers and stunned silence fill the arena. Not only has Cody Rhodes beaten Roman Reigns in this tournament, but he has now done the unthinkable. He has cleanly defeated John Cena and becomes the first Superstar to reach 14 points. Cody stands up, letting out a roar as the fans give him a round of applause. He is now 7-1, while Cena falls to 6-2. Cena gets up, with his hands on his hips looking over at Cody. He walks over to Cody and raises his hand as Cody has clearly earned his respect.
“Buried Alive” by Logic is heard as a commercial airs promoting the next WWE Pay-Per-View, Survivor Series. On that night, the winner of the Survival Trials will stand across the ring from the “Beast Incarnate” himself, Brock Lesnar, with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line. SURVIVAL TRIALS – ROMAN REIGNS (12) VS. SETH ROLLINS (6); Once both Superstars are in the ring, Roman Reigns extends his arm out for a trademark Shield fist bump. Seth Rollins, despite being the one to kick Reigns this past Monday, has been the uneasy member of the Shield as of late. He accepts the fist bump and the match is on. They start to trade right hands that you would expect to see in a match that was more personal than this. Rollins ducks two clotheslines from Reigns, hitting a Pele Kick after the second. He covers for two. Reigns powers up, shoving Rollins back into the corner and driving his shoulder into his midsection over and over. Reigns hits a big uppercut that actually sends Seth over the top and to the floor outside. “The power of Roman Reigns is unbelievable” states Michael Cole. Reigns follows outside, where Seth is ready and whips him into the guardrail. Seth crawls inside, pointing for the referee to count. “Seth Rollins seems more than happy taking a countout win” says Jerry Lawler. Reigns is not damaged enough, beating the count at eight. Seth stomps away as he enters the ring and runs off the ropes, hitting slingblade. Seth spends the next few minutes wearing down his powerhouse partner. He climbs to the top and leaps off with a frog splash but Reigns gets his knees up! Both men stand at the same time and Seth charges but gets caught in a huge Samoan drop. Reigns lays back on Seth for a near fall. He puts Rollins in the corner and reels off successive clotheslines, winding Seth. Seth falls to knees and leans over the second rope. Reigns sees an opening, exiting the ring and running around, hitting the drive by dropkick. The fans are in a frenzy as he enters the ring and calls for the Superman punch. He goes for it but Seth ducks and sweeps Reigns’ legs out from under him. Reigns gets back to his knees but Seth is ready with a superkick. He covers but Roman gets his shoulder up. Seth pulls his hair in frustration before grabbing Roman and hitting the Buckle Bomb. Reigns instantly pops out of the corner with the Spear and both men are now out cold. The referee starts to count. “This just might end in a double countout” says JBL. Both guys find the strength to stand by the count of nine. Reigns runs forward and connects on the Superman punch this time! Reigns steps back, looking for the Spear. He makes a beeline for Rollins, but he leaps clean over Reigns, who crashes shoulder first into the steel post. Reigns falls out of the corner, dropping to his hands and knees. Seth comes off the ropes with the Curb Stomp, securing the three count. Seth Rollins defeats Roman Reigns in 13:55!“Seth Rollins has just defeated his brother” shouts Michael Cole. Seth Rollins has his hand raised by the officials, getting a lot of cheers from the crowd but there are some boos. There is even a look of surprise on Seth’s face, since he has been stuck in a bit of a rut while Roman Reigns has been on quite the tear. Seth moves to 4-4, while Reigns is now in second place at 6-2 and holding the tiebreaker over John Cena. Reigns gets up and looks at Seth. They stare at each other for a few seconds before doing one more fist bump and Reigns exits, allowing Seth to enjoy his win.
A commercial airs to promote the debut of the newest show on the WWE Network, Rivalries. Relive some of the greatest feuds in history including Flair vs. Steamboat, Austin vs. McMahon, Lita vs. Trish and many others. The show premieres this Tuesday! One final video package is shown before our main event. Clips are shown from Daniel Bryan’s feud with Randy Orton and Batista earlier this year before we see CM Punk’s return at Payback. “Crooked Smiles” by Framing Hanley plays over the video and we see Punk and Bryan getting assaulted by the Authority over the course of the year. Batista and Randy Orton winning the Tag Team Titles from the Usos at SummerSlam is highlighted as well as them taking out the Usos and putting them on the shelf. Bryan was also on the shelf after SummerSlam, but returned and was denied a World Title shot. Instead, he defeated Orton and earned a Tag Team Title shot. He chose Punk as his partner, leading us here. WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP HELL IN A CELL MATCH – BATISTA AND RANDY ORTON (C) VS. CM PUNK AND DANIEL BRYAN; Right from the start, this is a major brawl. All four men just go at each other, pounding away on one another all around the ring and Cell. CM Punk promised this wasn’t going to be for the faint of heart and goes right after proving that by grating Randy Orton’s face on the Cell wall. Meanwhile, inside the ring, Batista is just beating the hell out of Daniel Bryan in the corner. When he sees his partner in trouble, he follows out and clubs Punk in the back. Orton, now cut on the forehead, goes under the ring and pulls out two kendo sticks. He gives one to Batista and they both begin to stalk Punk. “This does not bode well for the challengers” says Michael Cole. Before they can strike, Bryan comes off the top turnbuckle and wipes out Orton. Batista keeps Bryan down with a kendo stick shot to the back. He turns to hit Punk with one, but Punk greets him with a kick to the groin. Punk gets a steel chair and whacks Batista in the back with it. Batista rolls into the ring, getting away from him. Punk follows but is cut off by Orton. Punk takes a swing with the chair but Orton ducks and snaps off a gorgeous powerslam for two. Orton goes over to Batista, seemingly telling him a plan. Batista goes near the door and signals towards the entrance. Out walks Stephanie McMahon to massive boos from the crowd. “What the hell is this about?” asks Jerry Lawler. Stephanie has a key in her hand and unlocks the Cell door. Batista drags Punk’s body out of the Cell and slams the door shut. Stephanie locks Punk out and leaves to the back. “Just like at WrestleMania, Bryan is all alone against Batista and Orton” states JBL. Batista and Orton surround Bryan, who has rolled back into the ring. They begin to put the boots to him before Orton picks up the steel chair. He just lays into Bryan’s back with several shots as Punk gets to his feet. He realizes that he’s outside of the Cell and tries to pry open the door. Of course, Punk is no Kane, so it’s to no avail. Orton points at him and laughs while Batista plants Bryan with a sickening spinebuster. They are just enjoying toying with Bryan. Batista shouts “THIS IS FOR WRESTLEMANIA” as he puts him in position for the Batista Bomb. Punk runs around the Cell looking for a way in before making a break for the backstage area. Orton laughs at this as Batista drops Bryan with the Batista Bomb. Batista covers but Orton stops him, saying that isn’t enough. He starts pounding on the mat for the RKO. CM Punk returns through the curtain with a sledgehammer in hand. The referees stand in front of the padlock, telling him that they can’t allow him to break in. A frustrated Punk has an idea and begins to climb the Cell. Orton hits the RKO inside of the ring but stops to see what Punk’s plan is. “I have no idea what CM Punk is trying to do” says Jerry Lawler. Punk gets to the top and starts stomping on the Cell in one particular spot. He kicks with it all of his might before picking up the sledgehammer. Orton thinks its fine and signals for Batista that he wants to do the Batista Bomb/RKO combo. Punk pounds away on the ceiling with the sledgehammer, making progress and getting a square of the roof to come apart. Punk finishes it off with more stomps, finally getting it to hit the mat. This distracts Batista right before he can lift Bryan. Orton wants him to hurry just as Punk lowers himself down into the Cell. The fall is a long one, causing Punk to hit the mat and stay down for a second. Orton goes after Punk but is met with a sledgehammer shot to the ribs. Batista decides to just lift Bryan for the Batista Bomb, but the resilient former WWE Champion fights him off with right hands. He slips free but still just falls to the mat, in too much pain to really do anything. Punk comes over and trades blows with Batista, but the “Animal” proves to be too much and floors him after sending him off the ropes and nailing a spear. Batista gives directions to Orton, who steps back and seems to be looking to punt Punk. Punk gets to his hands and knees and Orton walks forward, but from out of nowhere, Bryan charges in with a Busaiku Knee! Batista is stunned and goes after Bryan. Bryan avoids him, picks up a steel chair and nails him in the stomach and back. Punk steps over and hoists Batista up onto his shoulders. He hits the Go to Sleep and before Batista hits the mat, Bryan lays him out with the Busaiku Knee! That combination allows both men to pin Batista, giving them the Tag Team Titles. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan defeat Batista and Randy Orton to win the WWE Tag Team Championships in 20:52!The fans in attendance erupt as Daniel Bryan and CM Punk survive Hell in a Cell and become the WWE Tag Team Champions for the first time. The Hell in a Cell is raised while the two embrace in the center of the ring. They overcame two of the toughest men in WWE history, Stephanie McMahon locking CM Punk out of the Cell and Bryan being left all alone with Batista and Randy Orton. They get handed the titles and pose with them, knowing that they were earned in a grueling war tonight.

Mr. McMahon on Raw!It's been nearly a year but tonight, the owner of the WWE, Mr. McMahon, returns to the show he created in 1993. There is no word yet on the exact reasoning for Mr. McMahon's return, but he has promised to address the WWE Universe live in the middle of the ring. As evidenced by her concern last night, his arrival is making Stephanie McMahon rather nervous. Could he be here to set the Authority straight? Could he be here to give them even more power? Could it have nothing to do with Stephanie, Triple H or the Authority at all? Find out tonight on the USA Network at 8E/7C!

In order to do so, Ziggler has promised to be a fighting champion and it starts tonight. Dolph Ziggler will be holding the first ever "Showoff Open", which will see him issue an open challenge to any Superstar in the back looking for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Monday Night Raw: October 27th, 2014 – AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas
Less than 24 hours removed from a historic Hell in a Cell Pay-Per-View, Raw opens with a short recap of some of the events that took place. The big victories by Paige, Dolph Ziggler, Daniel Bryan and CM Punk are the focal point. The weekly Raw intro video plays next, set to “Tonight is the Night” as Michael Cole, John “Bradshaw” Layfield and Jerry Lawler introduce the show. They promise a huge night, including the appearance of the Chairman himself, Mr. McMahon as well as some huge Survival Trials matches.
We start with another McMahon though as Stephanie McMahon’s music hits. She makes her way down to the ring to a loud chorus of boos. Despite the fact that her father will be back tonight, Stephanie looks to be in a very unpleasant mood. She enters the ring and immediately is in complaint mode. Stephanie says that tonight is supposed to be a happy night. “My father is returning, I’m in power and we, as the Authority, should be rejoicing. Instead, thanks to last night, everything went up in flames. Batista and Randy Orton lost the Tag Team Titles. Sheamus lost the Intercontinental Title. Everything is falling apart and I will not accept that.” Stephanie continues to complain about the evening that was Hell in a Cell until the music of Bad News Barrett plays. Mr. Money in the Bank struts to the ring with microphone in hand. “I know that last night wasn’t the best of nights for us as a unit but hear me out. I actually don’t have any bad news for you. In fact, I have some good news. While the Authority did lose a fair amount, one member was unabashedly successful. I not only moved one step closer to winning the Survival Trials when I beat Chris Jericho, but I also kept the Money in the Bank briefcase in my hands and in the room of the Authority.” Stephanie McMahon looks slightly annoyed at the interruption but does appreciate Barrett winning last night. “You’re right, at least something went right last night.”
Before Stephanie can continue, “Cult of Personality” plays and the brand new WWE Tag Team Champions, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan step through the curtain with huge grins on their faces. CM Punk has a microphone and says that winning the Tag Team Titles wasn’t even the best part of last night. “I mean, granted, winning these things and beating Batista and Randy Orton was great, don’t get me wrong. Hell, as of last night, we thought it couldn’t get any better. But then you showed up here, pouting and all red in the face. It made it a hundred times better.” Daniel Bryan chimes in, saying that seeing Stephanie looking so worried at the thought of her father viewing her as a failure after last night is indeed, pretty funny. Stephanie McMahon is even redder in the face now, clearly livid. She screeches into the microphone, “I’m sick and tired of you. You can’t come out here week in and week out and disrespect me, my power and my last name! I will not have it! Tonight, since you wanna run your mouth Punk, you’re going to face Bad News Barrett in the main event! And Daniel Bryan is barred from ringside! And that’s not all. Batista and Randy Orton are getting their rematch at those belts and bringing them back where they belong this Friday night on Smackdown. Now get on with MY SHOW!” Stephanie slams the microphone down angrily and storms off, clearly not in the right frame of mind tonight.
SURVIVAL TRIALS – CHRIS JERICHO (4) VS. ROMAN REIGNS (12); These two men sit on opposite ends of the standings. Chris Jericho has struggled mightily throughout the tournament and lost a chance to become Mr. Money in the Bank last night. Roman Reigns started red hot but lost two of his most recent matches to Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins. Here, Jericho takes Roman to the mat, trying to outwrestle the powerhouse. Reigns combats that nicely because when he does get to hit Jericho, it really sends the veteran back. Reigns avoids a Lionsault, pops up and levels Jericho with a Spear. He covers, managing to pick up the win. Roman Reigns defeats Chris Jericho in 11:29!
“Fresh off of a tough loss to his brother in arms, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns rebounds nicely and ties Cody Rhodes for the most points so far” says Michael Cole. Roman Reigns climbs to the second rope and poses for the WWE Universe, knowing that even with the setback last night, he is very much alive in this tournament, having just two losses.
In the backstage area, Renee Young is standing by with the man who defeated Roman Reigns last night, Seth Rollins. She asks him about facing someone he’s close to and the issues they had leading into the match. Seth says that a tournament with high stakes like this is bound to cause some tension. “We don’t just say we’re brothers, we actually are family. We have our squabbles and we move past it. Roman and I are past it and, judging by the win he just picked up, we are looking towards the rest of this tournament. Tomorrow night on Main Event, I face Bad News Barrett and I plan on getting to ten points.”
We are now taken to a recap of the brutal Hell in a Cell match for the WWE Women’s Championship last night. It’s mostly still images but you can tell that AJ Lee and Paige went to hell and back to prove who the better woman really is. Coming out of this recap, Michael Cole informs us that neither woman is in the arena tonight but they have Paige set up for a live interview via satellite. Paige appears on the Titantron to a pop, with some bandages on her face. Cole first wants to know the status of Paige’s health. She says that she is obviously banged up from last night but she has no major injuries. Cole asks for Paige’s thoughts on AJ Lee. “We went to war last night. I have all the respect in the world for AJ Lee the competitor but none for AJ Lee the person. After everything she did to me and especially my friend Emma, there is no way I can ever feel anything but disdain for her.” Lastly, Michael Cole wants to know what’s next for the Women’s Champion. Paige says that she plans on being back in the ring as soon as possible. “The doctor told me that I’d be able to compete in about a week or so. Before I go, I want to make one thing clear. Even with everything that my body has been through, I’m a fighting champion. I’m here to prove that I am the best women’s wrestler on the planet. So my next title defense will come at the Survival Trials Finals show on the WWE Network on November 9th.” Paige wants every woman in the locker room to prove that they deserve the shot. BRIE BELLA W/ NIKKI BELLA VS. EMMA; For the first time since being thrown off of the stage on Smackdown a few weeks back, Emma is in action. The Bella Twins have had themselves a pretty good 2014. Add in Emma’s recent injuries and she’s certainly the underdog. Emma isn’t fazed by the task at hand, showing off her impressive in ring ability, putting away Brie with the Emma Lock. Emma defeats Brie Bella in 3:34!Emma quickly slides out of the ring, avoiding Nikki Bella, who came in charging. She heads up the ramp smiling and has immediately thrown her name into the hat for a shot at Paige’s Women’s Championship. Emma did stake her claim for a shot back at Divas Smackdown and she may be about to make good on that.
Like the recap we saw of Paige vs. AJ Lee earlier, one is shown of the Survival Trials match between Cody Rhodes and John Cena last night. This leads right into the arrival of John Cena himself, who runs down to the ring to the usual mixed reaction from the WWE Universe. Despite the upset loss last night, Cena seems to be in a good mood. He gets on the microphone and does his usual hype for the city they’re in. “Now I know I’ve got another Survival Trials match about to go down but I wanted to take some time to address the elephant in the room. Last night, something happened that a lot of people didn’t expect. Coming into this tournament, the WWE Universe voted me as the favorite to win the entire Survival Trials and you all voted Cody Rhodes to have the EIGHTH best chance at winning it all. Here we are with only a few matches remaining and Cody Rhodes not only stands in sole possession of first place, but he beat me last night.” Cena calls Cody out to the ring and Cody Rhodes obliges to a pop from the San Antonio faithful. He enters the ring and stands across from Cena. “Last night, after you beat me, I shook your hand like a man. I’m not out here to shake your hand again but I am here to say, in front of the entire world, that you earned the hell out of my respect. I told you that I was kind of the measuring stick around here and you took that to heart and beat me, straight up in the middle of this ring. For that, I respect you.” Cody nods his head and responds, saying that he appreciates that but it’s not something he needs. “Beating you was a big deal but I wasn’t out to earn your respect. I’m here to win the Survival Trials and I’m here to become the WWE Champion. If that means I have to beat guys like you and Roman Reigns, then so be it.” Cena gives a small laugh and says that’s fine but he also wanted to let Cody Rhodes know one last thing. “You may have won last night but if you think for a second that I’m not going to do everything in my power to win out the rest of this thing, you’ve got another thing coming. Understand jack, if it’s you and I in the Finals, you might find yourself in serious trouble.” They are face to face as the tension builds before Cody takes a step back and exits the ring. Cena competes in a Survival Trials match, next! SURVIVAL TRIALS – ADRIAN NEVILLE (6) VS. JOHN CENA (12); Raw’s first hour wraps up with one of the most competitive matches in the entire Survival Trials so far. John Cena has indeed been a heavy favorite, but the loss to Cody Rhodes last night seems to have opened the door. The fans buy into several near falls that Adrian Neville is able to pick up. Neville fires off a variety of kicks and goes up top, hitting the Red Arrow. He covers but Cena gets his foot on the bottom rope. “This is awesome” chants the San Antonio crowd while Neville looks around in disbelief. His high risk style has been feast or famine throughout the tournament so far. He springboards into the ring only for Cena to catch him on his shoulders and score with the Attitude Adjustment! Cena takes a moment to breath before pinning and Neville gets a shoulder up! The fans roar as Neville has now done what Cody did last night. Cena quickly pounces though, locking in the STF. Neville, still having leg issues after losing to Miz 24 hours ago, submits. John Cena defeats Adrian Neville in 12:57!“Just like Roman Reigns earlier tonight, John Cena wins and joins Reigns and Cody Rhodes with 14 points” says JBL. Michael Cole makes sure to remind everyone that Cena does currently place third in the tournament due to the tiebreakers. Cena, ever the good guy, helps Adrian Neville to his feet following the match.
Backstage, we see the Authority in their office as something is going down. Sheamus and Bad News Barrett appear to be arguing. Sheamus is pissed that Barrett bragged about being the only Authority member to win last night. Stephanie McMahon steps in between them, telling them to calm down. “If there ever was a time for us to stay strong and united, it’s right now dammit.” They continue to trade barbs over her until Triple H steps in between them. He seems to calm them down a bit more until Sheamus shoves Barrett. Barrett doesn’t retaliate because he was shoved into Stephanie, who falls to the ground hard. Triple H pushes through them to check on his wife. “King, even though they’ve had their differences as of late, Triple H looks distraught” says Michael Cole. Stephanie hit the wall on her way down and looks to be out cold. A panicked Triple H shouts that he needs to get her to a hospital. Sheamus, stunned at his actions, offers to call 911 but Triple H ignores him, picks up Stephanie and heads out of the room.
“I’M HERE TO SHOW THE WORLD” is heard and the crowd comes alive for the arrival of our new Intercontinental Champion, Dolph Ziggler. He walks down to the ring, still banged up from the Hell in a Cell match last night. Jerry Lawler reminds us that Ziggler has discussed the “Showoff Open Challenge” throughout the day on Twitter. Ziggler enters the ring and grabs a microphone. He starts by discussing the fact that last night, he won the hardest match of his career. He stepped into the Hell in a Cell with a warrior like Sheamus but managed to come out on top. “Now, the Intercontinental Title has meant a ton to me since I was a little kid. Superstars like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Mr. Perfect and many others paved the way for guys like me. I take pride in stealing the show and the men that have held this title in the past stole plenty of shows in their time.” Dolph claims that he wants to restore the prestige of the title and he’s going to do so by issuing open challenges to anyone that wants to try and become Intercontinental Champion. Dolph calls out the first person that wants to respond. After a few moments of silence we hear, “THREE AIN’T ENOUGH MAN I NEED FIVE!” as former Intercontinental Champion, Big E makes his way to the ring. WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP – DOLPH ZIGGLER (C) VS. BIG E; As recently as just over a year ago, Big E and Dolph Ziggler were actually tag team partners and paired themselves up with AJ Lee. Big E was even by Dolph’s side when he won the World Heavyweight Title. They go back and forth here, working through a commercial break. Big E has the advantage for a few reasons. One, he is clearly the stronger competitor, two, his time at Ziggler’s side in the past has given him knowledge of his offense and three, Ziggler is still hurt from last night. Big E makes a crucial mistake when he misses the spear through the ropes and crashes to the outside. He climbs back in at the count of eight but walks right into a superkick. Big E bounces off the ropes, takes a second superkick and Dolph drills him with the Zig Zag to pick up the win. Dolph Ziggler defeats Big E to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship in 12:14!Dolph Ziggler has not only had the guts to put his brand new Intercontinental Championship on the line just 24 hours after a grueling Hell in a Cell match, but he retains it against some very game competition. Ziggler is handed the title and holds it high in the air as he exits up the ramp. Big E has a clear look of frustration on his face, knowing that he one mistake cost him a chance to get his title back.
Before the commercial break, we see Christian warming up backstage when Kofi Kingston comes up to him. Kofi says that they both haven’t had much success in recent months so he’s glad they’re trying things as a tag team tonight. Christian responds, “So am I, but let’s get one thing clear. This isn’t going to be like your team with Rob Van Dam. I’m not interested in a long tag run. I’m doing this to get back on track before I try my hand at answering Dolph Ziggler’s challenge.” Kofi Kingston understands and says that he’s looking for singles gold of his own. CHRISTIAN AND KOFI KINGSTON VS. RYBAXEL; Obviously, the tandem of Curtis Axel of Ryback have the experience advantage as a unit. Christian and Kofi Kingston come in prepared though and look extra motivated. They hit a ton of their signature moves, leaving Rybaxel reeling. Add in their recent problems and it’s a recipe for disaster. Kingston lays out Axel with Trouble in Paradise for the win. Christian and Kofi Kingston defeat Rybaxel in 4:18!Christian enters the ring and high fives Kofi Kingston. It looks like, for one night at least, they move back into their winning ways, which they hope to parlay into some singles success. After they leave, Ryback goes to help Curtis Axel up, but he shoves him back into the corner. Ryback looks peeved but tries to help again. Axel shouts something about Ryback not being there for him and he just kicks him in the balls. The fans boo loudly as Ryback crumples to the ground and Axel storms off.
A clip from earlier today is shown. While the WWE Universe lined up outside of the arena, Bo Dallas and Big Show were also outside. Big Show finally has a shirt in the correct size. Bo gives him a motivational speech saying that now that they’re teammates, they need to focus on winning. “Now Big Show, when we win, we have to make sure that we get our victory laps right. So right here, I want you to do a lap around the arena in preparation.” Big Show simply says “no”. Bo is determined though, saying that he’ll do it with Big Show if it makes him feel better. Show still declines so Bo gets a bit more assertive, reminding Show that doing things his way hasn’t led to many victories lately. A frustrated Big Show finally agrees and they head off to do some laps.
SURVIVAL TRIALS – DEAN AMBROSE (8) VS. SHEAMUS (4); Considering the match he had 24 hours earlier, Sheamus is clearly not in the best shape. He also seems to be in an agitated mood, especially when you remember that he shoved Bad News Barrett into Stephanie McMahon earlier tonight. Dean Ambrose looks to exploit that, angering Sheamus at every turn. He’ll hit an offensive move, then slap Sheamus in the back of the head or something like that. It starts to backfire when Sheamus catches him and starts to just wail on him. The angry “Celtic Warrior” nearly decapitates Ambrose with a Brogue Kick for the 1-2-3. Sheamus defeats Dean Ambrose in 10:49!The audience boos as Sheamus has his hand raised in celebration. Despite his anger at the loss last night and at Bad News Barrett, he rebounds with a big win, moving to 3-6 in the Survival Trials. The loss sends Dean Ambrose to 4-5, eliminating him for the tournament.
Cutting to the back, a limousine pulls up to the arena and the crowd goes wild. The driver gets out, walks to the back and opens the door. Vince McMahon steps out to a huge ovation. The owner of the WWE is here tonight and soon enough, we’ll find out why. SIN CARA VS. TYSON KIDD W/ NATALYA; Before the match officially begins, viewers are taken to a recap of the sit down interview that Michael Cole conducted with Tyson Kidd on wwe.com last week. The now brash Kidd talked about being the star of Total Divas, NXT and soon, Raw and Smackdown. He also made mention of a surprise in the coming weeks. Here, Sin Cara tried, but fell to the Sharpshooter. Tyson Kidd defeats Sin Cara in 2:07!As has been the case in recent weeks, Tyson Kidd’s celebration is over the top. He completely ignores Natalya, who tries to congratulate him, and acts like he just won the WWE Championship.
Before our main event, we are shown a special video from WWE’s Facebook page. It sees Lana and the new WWE United States Champion, Alexander Rusev, getting ready to board a plane. Lane speaks into the camera in this self-shot video. She says that tonight, they won’t be at Raw. “Instead, the ‘Bulgarian Brute’ and I are about to get on a plan to head to Bulgaria. Why you ask? Because we have much celebrating to do in the beautiful country of Bulgaria.” Lana warns the WWE roster that when Rusev gets back, he will continue to crush everyone in his path, including Alberto Del Rio again. BAD NEWS BARRETT VS. WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPION CM PUNK; All parties are banned from ringside according to Michael Cole, making this a fair fight. CM Punk and Bad News Barrett trade early blows. Barrett uses his bare knuckle boxing background to take control in that section. Punk moves things to the mat, where he has the upper hand. He applies the Anaconda Vice but Barrett scoots to the ropes, breaking it. Punk hoists him up for the GTS only for Barrett to elbow his way out of it. Barrett picks him up and plants him with the Wasteland. He covers but only gets a near fall. Barrett inverts the elbow pad, looking for the Bull Hammer. Punk ducks and picks him up for the GTS again. He nails it but Barrett falls to the outside, keeping hope alive. He slowly crawls to the timekeeper’s area while Punk follows out. Barrett grabs his Money in the Bank briefcase and whacks Punk with it, resulting in the DQ. CM Punk defeats Bad News Barrett via disqualification in 11:13!Once the bell sounds, Daniel Bryan immediately rushes down to the ring to save his tag team partner. Bad News Barrett sees this and quickly gets out of dodge. Bryan reaches CM Punk and stands around him while Barrett is on the opposite side of the ring, holding up his briefcase as if he didn’t do anything wrong. “It seems like the entire point of this match was so Barrett could soften up CM Punk for this Friday’s Tag Team Title match” says Michael Cole.
The moment of truth has arrived when “No Chance in Hell” hits and the chairman himself, Vince McMahon steps through the curtain. He gets the usual massive pop from the fans as he struts down to the ring. When Vince enters the ring, he waits for the crowd to quiet down before saying it feels good to be back in front of the WWE Universe. “Tonight hasn’t gone quite as planned. I wanted to have my daughter Stephanie and my son-in-law Triple H in the ring with me, but unfortunately, Stephanie an accident earlier and was taken to the hospital. Hunter did call me to report that she is going to be fine.” The crowd boos at this news, which Vince is taken aback by. He continues with the promo, saying that even without his family at his side, he must go on. Vince claims that even though he hasn’t appeared on television in recent months, he’s still very much in charge of the company. “I so still oversee all of the day to day operations in the WWE and I still have the final say on all major decisions. However, I am now 69 years old. Working on a daily basis in sometimes high stress environments has taken its toll. So I am here tonight to let you all know that it’s time for a change in the WWE. By the end of 2014, I will officially –“ We never hear what Vince says because, for the first time in over two months, the signature of the Wyatt Family hits. The crowd gives a mixture of gasps and a pop as the lights go out. When they come back on, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan surround the ring. “Oh my god! The Wyatt Family is back and what the hell are they thinking?” asks Michael Cole. Bray has a wide, sadistic smile on his face while Vince McMahon gives one of his trademark massive gulps. Bray shouts something causing Harper and Rowan to hop on the apron and get in the ring. Vince seems to gain some confidence, shouting that if they touch him, they’ll be fired. Harper and Rowan look to Bray to climbs into the ring himself. He goes to Vince’s face and strangely caresses it with his hand. Vince angrily shoves his hand away, causing Bray to laugh maniacally. He then swiftly grabs Mr. McMahon and holds him in position for Sister Abigail. “No Bray, don’t do it” shouts JBL. Bray looks around at the stunned crowd, plants a kiss on Vince’s forehead and hits Sister Abigail. Bray kneels over the unconscious chairman and holds his arms out, letting out a loud “FOLLOW…THE BUZZARDS!” The Wyatt Family has returned and, for some reason, they’ve targeted Mr. McMahon.

WWE Main Event: October 28th, 2014 – Toyota Center in Houston, Texas SURVIVAL TRIALS – BAD NEWS BARRETT (8) VS. SETH ROLLINS (8); Both of these men had successful nights at Hell in a Cell 48 hours ago. Bad News Barrett not only gained two more points but he retained his Money in the Bank briefcase against Chris Jericho, while Seth Rollins defeated his Shield teammate, Roman Reigns. Rollins starts this match by using his quickness to his advantage. He runs into trouble when Barrett is able to catch him. There are several near falls throughout this match, with both men coming close to victory. The finish comes as Rollins tries to springboard into the ring, but leaps right into the Bull Hammer. Barrett covers and gets the three. Bad News Barrett defeats Seth Rollins in 9:00!
After a bit of a rocky start, Bad News Barrett has gotten hot and continues to shoot up the rankings, improving to 5-4. Seth Rollins falls a bit after his big victory over Roman Reigns, dropping to 4-5. He snatches his briefcase from the referee, raising it high in the air. Remaining on his schedule, Barrett faces John Cena this weekend and the Miz next week, right here on Main Event.
1. Cody Rhodes (7-1, 14 points) 2. Roman Reigns (7-2, 14 points) 3. John Cena (7-2, 14 points) 4. Bad News Barrett (5-4, 10 points) 5. Dean Ambrose (4-5, 8 points) 6. Sami Zayn (4-4, 8 points) 7. Rey Mysterio returns!Earlier this year, surefire future WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio went down with an unfortunate injury. Injuries have plagued a phenomenal career but good news has just broken. This Monday night on Raw, from Buffalo, as the Survival Trials get ready to come to an end, we will also be treated to the return of Mysterio. There is no word on whether or not Mysterio will be back in action or just addressing the WWE Universe, but either way, they will be glad to see him back. Tune into the USA Network this Monday at 8E/7C to catch all of the action!

WWE NXT: October 30th, 2014 – Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida
After the WWE signature flashes across the screen, we cut straight to a video from earlier today. NXT General Manager William Regal addresses the viewers and has a major announcement. “Over the past number of weeks, tensions have risen between NXT Champion Corey Graves and the NXT Tag Team Champions Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Corey has been visibly upset since he lost the WWE Universe vote to get into the Survival Trials. He has been pretty much begging me to get his hands on Sami Zayn. So much so in fact, that he has agreed to put the NXT Championship on the line.” Regal says that, with Sami Zayn mathematically eliminated from the Survival Trials, he has found the perfect place for the match to take place. “On Sunday, November 9th, at the Survival Trials Finals WWE Network Live Special, Corey Graves will defend the NXT Championship on European soil for the first time ever, against Sami Zayn.” JASON JORDAN W/ JACK SWAGGER AND ZEB COLTER VS. TYE DILLINGER; The former tandem finally goes at it tonight. Tye Dillinger tries talking to Jason Jordan before the bell and bring him back to his side. Jordan wants no part of it and attacks Dillinger. Jordan looks more motivated than ever, tossing Dillinger around the ring with various suplexes. Tye comes back with a spirited run but Jordan ended him with the Jordan Slam. Jason Jordan defeats Tye Dillinger in 3:45!
The bell sounds and the fans boo the result loudly. The All-American Real Americans enter the ring and stand over Tye Dillinger’s fallen body. They put their hands over their hearts and shout “WE THE PEOPLE!” It looks like Jason Jordan has officially put Tye Dillinger in his rearview mirror.
An advertisement is shown to promote the upcoming John Cena Rivalries DVD, which focuses on all of his greatest rivals throughout his career, ranging from Edge to the Rock and everyone in between. THE ASCENSION VS. BLAKE AND MURPHY; Since losing the NXT Tag Team Titles to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn and the rematch shortly after, the Ascension haven’t been seen. They return here against one of the more impressive up and coming tandems in NXT. Blake and Murphy don’t do much better than the teams during the Ascension’s record title reign. The angry Ascension hit the Fall of Man to allow Viktor to pin Murphy’s shoulders to the mat. The Ascension defeat Blake and Murphy in 1:29! “The Ascension are back and they are in one foul mood” says Alex Riley. The former NXT Tag Team Champions pose over their fallen victims. One has to assume that the Ascension have their sights set on the belts once again.
A commercial is shown for WWE 2K15. For the first time ever, play as your favorite WWE Superstars, Divas and Legends on the current generation of video game systems! Before the next match, we are shown a plug for the latest issue of Muscle and Fitness magazine, which features an article giving a special look at the WWE Performance Center. THE LUCHA DRAGONS VS. THE VAUDEVILLAINS; As Kalisto and Sin Cara make their entrance, commentary informs the viewers at home that they are going by the name of the Lucha Dragons. Their “LUCHA” chants seem to be getting over with the Full Sail faithful. Entering this match, the Vaudevillains have yet to lose a tag team contest. It looks like they are on the road to yet another win, but Kalisto manages to hop onto Simon Gotch’s shoulders and pull him down into a victory roll, reeling off an upset. The Lucha Dragons defeat the Vaudevillains in 6:28!The fans pop for the first official victory by the Lucha Dragons. Kalisto and Sin Cara slide out of the ring and celebrate by doing their “LU-CHA” chants, which the crowd does along with them. The Vaudevillains are stunned in the ring as Aiden English looks on furiously. The tag team division in NXT is certainly heating up.
In the back, the NXT cameras catch up with NXT Tag Team Champion Sami Zayn and they ask him about the huge match with Corey Graves coming up. Sami says that an opportunity at the NXT Title has eluded him since he got here. “Adrian Neville, Corey Graves himself and others have gotten in the way of my shot at the NXT Championship. Now Graves is so furious that the WWE Universe selected me over him to compete in the Survival Trials that he is willing to give me my shot.” Sami gladly accepts and says that he plans on becoming the first double champion in NXT history. ALEXA BLISS VS. BAYLEY; In recent weeks, both Bayley and Becky Lynch have staked their claim for a future shot at Sasha Banks and the NXT Women’s Championship. A few weeks back, Alex Bliss suffered a tough loss at the hands of Becky. Alexa comes out firing, picking up several near falls right out of the gate, trying to upset the ‘Huggable One”. She makes a critical mistake as she misses the Sparkle Splash. Bayley tugs on her headband and plants Alexa with the Bayley to Belly for the 1-2-3. Bayley defeats Alexa Bliss in 4:54!Bayley leaps to her feet, scoring another win in her quest to realize her dream and become NXT Women’s Champion. Just like Bayley did two weeks ago, Becky Lynch is shown watching on a monitor in the back. Bayley goes to help Alexa Bliss up but she shoves Bayley away, drawing boos from the audience. Alexa storms out of the ring, frustration rising.
Devin Taylor is now standing by with the NXT Women’s Champion, Sasha Banks. She asks Sasha first about how she’s feeling after a historic 40 minute match with Charlotte last week. Sasha says that it was the toughest match of her career, but she walked away with the win for the same reason that she’s the champion. Because she’s the best. Devin then asks about the possibility of facing either Bayley or Becky Lynch. “Devin, don’t you get it? It doesn’t matter. I beat Charlotte twice and I’ll beat any other Diva thrown in my way, regardless of who it is.”
MASON RYAN VS. TONY BRIGGS; Like so many others before him, poor Tony Briggs finds himself in trouble. Mason Ryan continues to dominate, winning via backbreaker rack. Mason Ryan defeats Tony Briggs in 0:23!
Tension builds as Mason Ryan looks out onto the stage, where the “Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin has stepped out. He sarcastically claps for Mason Ryan, who stares out at him. Corbin is the only man who is winning matches as quickly as Ryan. Could these two brutes be on a collision course?
Before our main event, an ad runs to promote the latest WWE Film, See No Evil 2! Check out the return of Jacob Goodnight! A selfie video is shown, shot by Tyler Breeze. He wants the fans to know that he is not going to be overlooked. “I see that the NXT Universe seems to have latched on to the new flavors of the month. Well they need to not forget that the most super good looking piece of gorgeousness in WWE history is still right in front of their eyes. Sooner than later, you will all get to see your favorite supermodel once again." FINN BALOR AND HIDEO ITAMI VS. JUSTIN GABRIEL AND TYSON KIDD W/ NATALYA; At NXT TakeOver: R-Evolution, Hideo Itami defeated Tyson Kidd. Justin Gabriel attacked him, leading to the debut of Finn Balor. Finally, these four men meet in a tag team contest. It is as fast paced as you would expect. Despite not being a regular tag team, Balor and Itami mesh very well together. Kidd and Gabriel do end up isolating Itami, but, behind the roar of the crowd, he is able to make the tag to Balor. He comes in firing, nailing both Kidd and Gabriel with some big kicks and offense. He drops Gabriel with Bloody Sunday and goes up top. Kidd tries to intervene but is knocked off the apron by a massive running kick from Itami. Balor comes off the top with a diving double stomp, picking up the victory. Finn Balor and Hideo Itami defeat Justin Gabriel and Tyson Kidd in 8:01!
The Full Sail crowd comes to their feet, cheering for two of the newest and hottest Superstars on the NXT roster. Tyson Kidd backs up the ramp with Natalya, looking very displeased. Finn Balor and Hideo Itami bask in their victory as the NXT Universe continues to applaud them.

Friday Night Smackdown: October 31st, 2014 – Toyota Center in Houston, Texas
Kicking off this week’s edition of Smackdown is a video package recapping the controversial ending to this past Monday’s ending to Raw. Mr. McMahon returned to address the WWE Universe only to be attacked by the returning Wyatt Family, who we hadn’t seen since SummerSlam. There isn’t any fancy pyro this week. Instead, the camera just cuts to the arena as the new commentary team of Tom Phillips, Booker T and Byron Saxton solemnly introduce the show and informs the viewers that we’ll have an update on the condition of the McMahons later tonight. With that out of the way, they want to get things going on a happier note. DIVAS HALLOWEEN COSTUME BATTLE ROYAL; Included in this Battle Royal are Alicia Fox dressed as a literal fox, Brie Bella as Wilma Flintstone, Nikki Bella as Betty Rubble, Cameron as a firefighter, Eva Marie as a devil, Layla as a clown, Natalya as little red riding hood, Naomi as Batman, Tamina as Tarzan and Summer Rae as a schoolgirl. Emma is not involved because commentary tells us that with her win this past Monday, she’ll meet the winner of this match on Monday to determine the new number one contender for Paige’s Women’s Title. The eliminations come in relatively quick order. It comes down to Brie against Nikki and the twins shake hands. Nikki pulls on Brie during the handshake and sends her flying to the outside, stealing the win. Nikki Bella wins the battle royal at 3:16!From outside of the ring, Brie Bella looks up at her sister with betrayal and disdain in her eyes. Nikki shrugs at her as if to say “I had to do what I had to do”. Brie is still not happy but seems to understand as she heads off, leaving Nikki to have her own moment. This Monday night, Nikki Bella faces Emma to determine Paige’s next challenger.
Renee Young is standing by backstage to interview the former WWE Tag Team Champions, Batista and Randy Orton. She asks them for their thoughts on trying to regain their Tag Team Titles, less than a week after losing them. Batista cringes at the word “losing”, saying that he doesn’t considers flukes to be losses. “CM Punk and Daniel Bryan are lucky to be walking after Hell in a Cell, let alone be Tag Team Champions.” Randy Orton continues, saying that tonight, they will go out and show the world once again why they are future Hall of Famers and the two most dangerous men in the WWE. SURVIVAL TRIALS – ADRIAN NEVILLE (6) VS. CODY RHODES (14); Just five nights removed from the biggest win of his career, Cody Rhodes looks to continue his hot streak. Adrian Neville suffered a tough loss to the Miz on the Hell in a Cell Kickoff show and is still nursing the leg work done during that match. Neville puts on a spirited effort, countering some of Cody’s signature offense and picking up several near falls. The crowd buys into him having a chance against the man in first place. Neville goes up top for the Red Arrow, but that bum leg comes into play and he stumbles, crashing to the mat. He slowly gets up and Rhodes is ready with the Disaster Kick, staying in first place. Cody Rhodes defeats Adrian Neville in 8:48!“The unthinkable run of Cody Rhodes continues! He’s now 8-1 and still has the best record in the Survival Trials” says Tom Phillips. Cody Rhodes helps Adrian Neville, who is still moving gingerly, to his feet before the referees assist him in leaving the ring. Cody stays behind to celebrate his win. He is one step closer to clinching a spot in the finals.
After the break, the music of the brand new WWE United States Champion Alexander Rusev hits. He walks down to the ring, with Lana in tow. When they enter, Lana snatches a microphone from ringside. She tells the crowd to shut up before saying that they returned from Bulgaria this morning. “It was so beautiful there and Rusev was welcomed like a hero. He won the United States Title and is now officially Bulgaria’s greatest athlete. However, Rusev’s dominance does not stop here. He has still yet to be pinned or submitted inside this ring. Nobody will be able to take the title from him.” Lana says that it begins tonight as Rusev destroys his opponent and continues at the Survival Trials Finals. “You see, earlier today, when Rusev and I arrived back in the United States, we were informed that Alberto Del Rio will be getting his rematch on that night. It matters not because the end result will be just as it was at Hell in a Cell. Rusev will CRUSH!” NON-TITLE MATCH: WWE UNITED STATES CHAMPION ALEXANDER RUSEV W/ LANA VS. FANDANGO W/ LAYLA; Neither of these guys are fan favorites but the WWE Universe decides to get behind Fandango. Unfortunately, they don’t get a lot of time to do so as Alexander Rusev comes out like a monster. Rusev locks in the Accolade and Fandango submits. Alexander Rusev defeats Fandango in 1:01!There is another win for the current WWE United States Champion, Alexander Rusev. He releases the Accolade once Lana gives him the signal and they pose together over Fandango’s fallen body. The incredible run of Rusev continues but he is headed into battle with a tough challenge ahead of him as Alberto Del Rio gets his rematch at the Survival Trials Finals.
Returning, the fans boo loudly as 3MB is in the ring. They are dressed as three members of the Beatles. Heath Slater speaks, saying that they decided to get costumes of the only band in history that even remotely compares to them, the Beatles. “There was no need for a Ringo Starr because…nobody liked him anyway” says Heath before he breaks out into hysterical laughter. Even Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal don’t seem to find it as funny as he does. Heath realizes this and stops laughing, deciding it’s time to perform. Before they can though, we hear “FEED ME MORE” as Ryback steps through the curtain to a pop. HEATH SLATER W/ DREW MCINTYRE AND JINDER MAHAL VS. RYBACK; The angry “Big Guy” means business tonight. He pretty much annihilates Heath Slater, similar to what Alexander Rusev just did to Fandango. He lays out Slater with the Shell Shock, securing the win. Ryback defeats Heath Slater in 1:17! “I’m pretty sure that somewhere, Curtis Axel is regretting what he did to Ryback on Monday” says Byron Saxton. Ryback smacks head as he stands up, mouthing something to the camera about Curtis Axel. He has his former Rybaxel partner in his crosshairs. Adam Rose, Santino Marella and the Exotic Express are roaming the halls, searching for the best Halloween party. The first door they knock on reveals Big E, dressed as a ninja turtle. He doesn’t speak, butlooks at the Exotic Express and chooses to join in, doing some rather interesting grinding. The second door reveals the Age of Enlightenment, both somehow dressed as Albert Einstein. “Wait, how are you both Einstein?” asks Rose. Damien Sandow and Xavier Woods look annoyed by the question, and refuse to join the festivities. Santino shrugs and heads forward, saying that there better be something good next. When they open the door, the Boogeyman steps out of a dark room. “This is Halloween. This is Halloween. I’m the Boogeyman and I’m coming to getcha!” Boogeyman smashes his clock over his head, freaking out everyone. Rose decides to move the party elsewhere and everyone cautiously passes by him.
Back to the arena, Justin Roberts introduces the brand new WWE Intercontinental Champion, Dolph Ziggler. Dolph’s music plays over the loudspeakers as he enters the ring to a very positive reaction from the WWE Universe. Dolph says that tonight, he’s keeping it short and sweet. “Last Monday, I introduced the Showoff Invitational Open Challenge for my Inter-“. Dolph is cut off by loud pyro and the arrival of Chris Jericho. He has a microphone and talks on his way to the ring, saying that a shot at the Intercontinental Championship is just what he needs to right the ship. “I’m currently sitting at an abysmal 2-7 record in the Survival Trials and that is unacceptable. I am Chris Jericho dammit. A former six time World Champion, future WWE Hall of Famer and a record nine time Intercontinental Champion. If I can beat you and become a ten time champion, things will turn around and I will be back to the same Chris Jericho that I’m supposed to be.” Ziggler readily accepts the challenge. WWE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP – DOLPH ZIGGLER (C) VS. CHRIS JERICHO; With the history that these two have, it’s no wonder this begins as a bit of a slugfest, which is normally not either man’s strong suit. Chris Jericho chooses to attack the leg of the champion, setting up for the Walls of Jericho. Dolph Ziggler sets him back with a loud superkick, sending him outside. Jericho barely beats the count back inside and catches a second superkick attempt. He trips up Ziggler and tried for the Walls of Jericho. Dolph fights it before pulling Jericho into a small package to get the win. Dolph Ziggler defeats Chris Jericho to retain the WWE Intercontinental Championship in 6:32!In a match finishes a lot quicker than most people probably expected, Dolph Ziggler gets one over on Chris Jericho. Dolph slides out of the ring, limping, and grabs the Intercontinental Title, holding it high in the air. The look of disappointment and frustration on the face of Chris Jericho is imminent. He is nearly pulling his hair out, having let another match slip through is fingertips.
Much like this past Monday, we see more footage of Bo Dallas and the Big Show. Instead of doing laps this time, Bo seems to be teaching Big Show about the art of motivational speaking. “You see Show, you’re great at public speaking but you don’t know how to properly motivate people. As a giant, you don’t need much motivation, because you can crush anyone who stands in your way.” Bo gives an example of a proper motivational speech, while Show listens. Bo wants Show to try, which he gives a shot. However, Show does it in a very high pitch voice, similar to Bo’s. “If you all just say your prayers, take your vitamins and Bolieve, any and everything is possible. Don’t think of anything as impossible, think of it as I’m possible.” Show ends it with a cheesy thumbs up, clearly sarcastic, but Bo is nearly overcome with tears. “That was so beautiful. I think we can move on, you’ve struck gold with this buddy.” SURVIVAL TRIALS – THE MIZ (4) VS. SAMI ZAYN (8); Last night on NXT, some big news was broken. While he’s mathematically eliminated from the Survival Trials right now, Sami Zayn will take part in the Survival Trials Finals show, when he gets a shot at Corey Graves’ NXT Championship. During this match, the Miz is heard shouting that he can help Zayn with his personality, just like he tried to do for Adrian Neville. Sami never agrees to take the help, fighting back each time. Miz charges in for the Awesome clothesline, but Sami moves and Miz crashes into the corner. Sami runs in with the Helluva Kick, scoring the victory. Sami Zayn defeats the Miz in 7:07!Sami Zayn leaps up to a roar from the WWE Universe. They’ve really taken a liking to the NXT Superstar. While he may not be able to get a shot at Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series, he does improve to 5-4, while also gaining momentum before his huge NXT Title shot. The Miz has the dubious honor of staying in last place for now, at 2-7.
Tom Phillips now leads the way in promoting this weekend’s WWE Network special Survival Trials live events. On Saturday in Binghamton, New York, three matches go down. All three Shield members are in action as Dean Ambrose takes on the Miz, Seth Rollins goes one on one with Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns looks to keep up the pace against Alberto Del Rio. Then, one night later in Syracuse, Del Rio is in action again against Sami Zayn. The Authority looks to play spoiler to the top of the Survival Trials standings when Bad News Barrett goes against John Cena and former Intercontinental Champion Sheamus meets first place Cody Rhodes.
Speaking of the former Intercontinental Champion, Renee Young is standing by with Sheamus. She asks him what’s next for the “Celtic Warrior.” He responds, “I will not be asking for a rematch against Dolph Ziggler. He won the Hell in a Cell and I considered that the end of our rivalry. Don’t get me wrong, I still hate his little guts but that’s behind me now.” Sheamus then says that his immediate focus is on the end of the Survival Trials. He admits that it hasn’t gone well so far, but on Raw he proved that he was still a force to be reckoned with when he defeated Dean Ambrose. He promises to put an end to Cody Rhodes’ lucky streak this Sunday night and when the tournament ends, you can bet that Sheamus will find a way to have gold around his Irish waist again.
A video plays to recap the heinous attack on Vince McMahon by Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family this past Monday. Tom Phillips then directs us to Stephanie McMahon, who is live via satellite with an update. Tom asks her about the condition of her father. Surprisingly, a disgusted look comes across her face. “How dare you Tom? Something terrible happened to a McMahon on Raw but it wasn’t my father. It was me. I was knocked out in the locker room and had to be taken to the hospital. I agreed to this interview because I thought you would want an update on my status. You know me right? Stephanie McMahon. The Billion Dollar Princess. The woman that this company rightfully belongs to.” Stephanie says that he is fine and will be at Raw this Monday before taking off her microphone and throwing it down. Tom Phillips awkwardly sends it to the ring for the main event. WWE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP – CM PUNK AND DANIEL BRYAN (C) VS. BATISTA AND RANDY ORTON; Sunday night, these two teams waged war in Hell in a Cell. The effects of that match are visible on all four men, but CM Punk and Daniel Bryan especially. Bryan has his ribs taped, which might as well be a target. Batista and Randy Orton attack it like a shark smelling blood. They pick him apart, focusing everything on the ribs. Bryan slips free and hits a big running elbow on Batista. He tags in Punk at the same time that Orton gets the tag. Punk comes in on fire and hits everything in his path. He does springboard in for a clothesline right into Orton’s RKO. Batista covers but it quickly gets broken up. Orton ends up as the legal man as his team tries the RKO/Batista Bomb combination. Bryan breaks that up with the Busaiku Knee, taking out Batista. Punk grabs Orton and nails him with the GTS, pinning him to retain the belts. CM Punk and Daniel Bryan defeat Batista and Randy Orton to retain the WWE Tag Team Championships in 11:12!The official calls for the bell and hands CM Punk and Daniel Bryan their belts. They raise them over their heads while Batista pulls Randy Orton out of the ring. The former champions look on angrily while the new powerhouse of the tag team division pose for the fans in attendance. Judging by the look on Batista’s face, this war isn’t quite over.
1. Cody Rhodes (8-1, 16 points) 2. Roman Reigns (7-2, 14 points) 3. John Cena (7-2, 14 points) 4. Bad News Barrett (5-4, 10 points) 5. Sami Zayn (5-4, 10 points) 6. Dean Ambrose (4-5, 8 points) 7. Alberto Del Rio (4-4, 8 points) 8. Seth Rollins (4-5, 8 points) 9. Adrian Neville (3-7, 6 points) 10. Sheamus (3-6, 6 points) 11. Chris Jericho (2-7, 4 points) 12. The Miz (2-7, 4 points)

WWE Live Event: November 1st, 2014 – Floyd L. Maines Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Binghamton, New YorkTheme Song: "Survival" by Eminem
The commentary duo of Tom Phillips and Renee Young lead the introduction to the show tonight. While the arena is rather small, it’s tough to really tell due to the dark lighting setup for these events. We go right into the action as tonight, we’ll see all three members of the Shield in Survival Trials action.
SURVIVAL TRIALS – CHRIS JERICHO (4) VS. SETH ROLLINS (8); As we saw on Smackdown last night, the frustration of a 2-7 record so far has really started getting to Chris Jericho. Seth Rollins has had his fair share of issues as of late, but the win over Roman Reigns at Hell in a Cell seems to have calmed him. They go back and forth at a quick pace for most of the match. Jericho has begun resorting to trying for pinfalls at every opportunity. He tries the Walls of Jericho but Seth kicks him back into the corner. Jericho falls to his knees, opening the door for Seth to nail a vicious superkick. Seth hooks the leg and earns two more points. Seth Rollins defeats Chris Jericho in 8:22!
Seth Rollins stands up and raises his arms in the air. He may no longer be alive in the Survival Trials, but the Shield remains the strongest entity in the WWE. Tonight, they have a chance to truly showcase their dominance over the WWE in three separate matches.
SURVIVAL TRIALS – DEAN AMBROSE (8) VS. THE MIZ (4); Looking to follow in his teammate’s footsteps, Dean Ambrose comes very close on a quick rollup. The Miz gets in some of his trademark offense, but runs into trouble because he’s more worried about not getting hit in his “moneymaker”. He does try to get a countout victory, but Ambrose just makes it inside by the time the official reaches nine. Miz grabs Dean for the Skull Crushing Finale only for Dean to elbow him in the ribs and nail Dirty Deeds, scoring the win. Dean Ambrose defeats the Miz in 7:14!
The Shield have begun the night 2-0. Unfortunately, Dean Ambrose is currently mathematically eliminated from the Survival Trials. Still, any and all wins are important as Dean Ambrose builds some momentum for the future. Can Roman Reigns make it a Shield clean sweep?
SURVIVAL TRIALS – ALBERTO DEL RIO (8) VS. ROMAN REIGNS (14); Word broke out last night on Smackdown that Alberto Del Rio has a United States Championship match coming up at the Survival Trials Finals next week. Roman Reigns is someone that is absolutely fighting for his chance, currently tied with John Cena at 7-2. Del Rio attacks the arm throughout. Not only does it soften the arm for the Cross Armbreaker, but it takes away Reigns’ Superman punch and spear. He goes for the spear at one point, but it’s a weak version that doesn’t get the job done. Del Rio slaps on the seemingly unbreakable Cross Armbreaker! Reigns can’t find a way out but manages to roll over, pinning Del Rio’s shoulders to the mat, 1-2-3. Roman Reigns defeats Alberto Del Rio in 14:33!
The fans cheer as Alberto Del Rio releases the hold and looks at the official, stunned at the result. Roman Reigns stumbles back, holding his arm in pain. “Even with his best weapons neutralized, Roman Reigns still found a way to win and move to an incredible 8-2 with his final tournament match coming up in two nights on Raw” says Tom Phillips. Dean Ambrose comes down through the crowd and watches from just behind the guardrail. This Monday, it will be Reigns taking on Ambrose with big Survival Trials implications!

WWE Live Event: November 2nd, 2014 – Oncenter War Memorial Arena in Syracuse, New YorkTheme Song: "Survival" by Eminem
Like last night, Tom Phillips and Renee Young are in the booth for this WWE Network special airing of the Survival Trials. Three matches take place tonight, including one that could see Cody Rhodes clinch a spot in the finals on November 9th in Nottingham, England. But first, we’re going to see a first time ever match!
SURVIVAL TRIALS – ALBERTO DEL RIO (8) VS. SAMI ZAYN (10); While both of these men are out of contention to make the finals, they are set for big matches on November 9th. Alberto Del Rio gets his United States Title rematch and Sami Zayn earns a long awaited shot at the NXT Championship. Both guys work quickly here, with Del Rio, as always, targeting the arm. Because of that, Sami is unable to lift Del Rio a few times. Del Rio connects on his hard enziguri, knocking Sami off the top, but only getting a near fall. He taps his arm, calling for the Cross Armbreaker. He tries it, but Sami counters into a rollup for two. Sami charges only this time Del Rio is the one to counter, slapping on the submission and causing Sami to quit. Alberto Del Rio defeats Sami Zayn in 15:34!
Afterwards, Alberto Del Rio raises his arms in victory, before helping Sami Zayn to his feet. Both men shake hands and now are tied in the standings with 10 points each and a 5-5 record. Sami’s final match is this Monday night against points leader Cody Rhodes, while Del Rio takes on Adrian Neville this Friday night on Smackdown.
SURVIVAL TRIALS – CODY RHODES (16) VS. SHEAMUS (6); Two men that have been complete opposites in this tournament. Cody Rhodes is on a miracle run that has him at 8-1, while Sheamus is 3-6 and recently lost his Intercontinental Championship. As he said two nights ago on Smackdown though, Sheamus comes out with a vengeance, doing everything in his power to not only turn things around, but to end Cody’s hot streak. The resilient Cody fights back and manages to nail the Disaster Kick but Sheamus gets his foot on the bottom rope. Cody can’t believe it and tries the move a second time. He goes to the well too often, as Sheamus strikes with a mid-air Brogue Kick, putting Cody away. Sheamus defeats Cody Rhodes in 12:32!
Commentary, and the WWE Universe in Syracuse are all stunned that Cody Rhodes has finally taken a second loss in the Survival Trials. He had a golden opportunity to clinch the finals against a struggling Sheamus, but couldn’t get the job done. Sheamus has a huge grin as he goads over the victory. He is just 4-6, but has now moved Cody to 8-2. Cody is still in first place via tiebreaker, but has the same record as Roman Reigns.
SURVIVAL TRIALS – BAD NEWS BARRETT (10) VS. JOHN CENA (14); There is certainly no love lost between these two as their rivalry dates back to the Nexus days. Mr. Money in the Bank takes it right to John Cena, trying to score a victory in multiple ways. Of course, you can’t just beat Cena since he’s the most resilient Superstar around. He kicks out of the Wasteland and dodges a Bull Hammer, locking Barrett into the STF. Barrett shows his ability to avoid loss too, reaching the ropes to break the hold. Cena tries for the Attitude Adjustment but Barrett elbows out. He tries one more Bull Hammer, but Cena ducks and scores on the AA, getting a crucial victory. John Cena defeats Bad News Barrett in 12:51!
The WWE Universe comes alive for another huge win by John Cena. With it, Cena moves to 8-2, tying Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns for the best record. He does stand in third place, but if he can beat Seth Rollins on the next Smackdown and either Reigns or Rhodes loses on Raw, Cena will find himself in the Survival Trial Finals!
1. Cody Rhodes (8-2, 16 points) 2. Roman Reigns (8-2, 16 points) 3. John Cena (8-2, 16 points) 4. Bad News Barrett (5-5, 10 points) 5. Dean Ambrose (5-5, 10 points) 6. Seth Rollins (5-5, 10 points) 7. Alberto Del Rio (5-5, 10 points) 8. Sami Zayn (5-5, 10 points) 9. Sheamus (4-6, 8 points) 10. Adrian Neville (3-7, 6 points) 11. Chris Jericho (2-8, 4 points) 12. The Miz (2-8, 4 points)
