Please, let's discuss one of the worst parts of Impact in a long, long time.

This is an all time bad wrestling segment. Holy crap.
Here's how you know it's bad: It's the worst use of a fake baby I've ever seen in wrestling. Even in that narrow field, it sucks.

There is no way they meant that as anything other than a joke. No way. There is no other way to take that slow motion drop onto a f***ing coffee table.

This totally deserves a through and thoughtful analysis from one Herschel Shmoikel Pinchas Yerucham Krustofsky.
Take it away Mr. Krustofsky:

Did they get Tommy Wiseau to write and direct (and possibly Matt's stylist) that!?
Yikes!

That's actually pretty damned funny. It looks straight up soap opera. It's intentionally bad guys, it's pretty blatant.
Hell, if Impact had gone full telenovella years ago, they might be in much better shape.

That music sounds like it could fit right into Earth Defense Force 2. Worst Cribs episode ever.

Going to be in the minority but I'm really digging Matt hardy again, it's nice to see him reinvent his character, he's a really good heel and once this program ends I'd like to see him elevate James Storm

There is no way they meant that as anything other than a joke. No way. There is no other way to take that slow motion drop onto a f***ing coffee table. It's odd, because it seems like the two are going for different things. The cheesy music and Matt's OTT performance is one thing, but Jeff is just..Jeff, who seems to be playing it 100% straight. Bit weird to turn your Slammiversary match between your two biggest stars into a "this sucks on purpose" angle, but hey.

I've been a fan of wrestling for over 20 years, and after seeing this I think I've wasted 20 years of my life. Holy f***...
This is the worst thing I've ever seen not just in wrestling but in all of entertainment, and I've seen the room and birdemic.
Matt Hardy as fat Sweeney Todd is just pathetic, and I wonder if Jeff is doing drugs again to accept doing this segment.
Stuff like this make me wish for them to bring back Vince Russo, Russo is a genius compared to Matt Hardy who I'm sure was behind this.
This segment was worse than anything tna has ever done.

Its bad in a good, cheesy and naive way, and there's also a nice backstory to it. Also segments like this one makes me dig the current Matt even more. Pure lo-fi thrash soap opera - love it.

This has to be one of the worst segments I've seen on nationally-televised pro-wrestling. Everything is shit. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING can be salvaged from this.
I'm someone who hasn't watched IMPACT in years, who doesn't follow the storylines, and until the very end I couldn't tell whether it was meant to be a joke or be a real, serious confrontation.
That's because of: a. the terrible way this segment is written b. the terrible acting from everyone involved (seriously I can't believe I just watched the Hardys and not some random guys from some backyard fed in Alaska) c. the awful camera work d. the shitty video editing e. the over-top, cheesy music
Good God what did I just watch.

TNA is essentially the Hardy's old backyard fed. Except it has a TV deal, less fans and it pays the same.

Either way this is f***ed.
You're supposed to view it as a serious segment to sell a PPV from this company, which is impossible to do
Or
You're supposed to view it ironically/in jest, but in that case why are they doing something like that to sell a PPV
TNA man, TNA....

From Hackenschmidt/Gotch, to Funk's/Brisco's, to Flair/Steamboat, to Hogan/Andre, to Austin/Rock, this promo is the culmination of over a century of the sport that we call professional wrestling.
Bravo gentlemen, you did it.
