I started my latest career at 43. Could not be happier.

When I was 16, I worked at a place that I wasn't happy at. I ended up leaving, and I felt happier. When I was 19, I had a job at a summer camp. It was a challenge, because sometimes kids don't get along, but, they were all awesome, and when the summer was over, parents of kids that weren't even in my group, thanked me for showing kindness to their kids. I started my current job, after the summer camp. I truly can't say anything negative, since any time I've needed help, they have helped me. I truly hope you find a job you will like, and be comfortable with.

Honestly. I feel as though the "career" situation is just filling in time so that I can pursue what I love. I like to write, make music, be with my family, practice martial arts, cook and generally be a creative person. Honestly, I've been meandering about the last 10 years of my life, with career plans being essentially meaningless...but am honestly as happy as ever. Of course, I've had jobs I loved, jobs I hated, jobs that just filled in gaps and ...am still looking for the next road ahead. But, I am more in search of "keeping" my happiness than fulfilling some horsesh*t career path that will pull away from the things I love. So, there's that way of thinking about things...

At 23 I had been around the world twice and was on my way for a third helping. At 23, I had an answer for everything and knew where I wanted to be in five years and what I was going to be doing. At 36, I know that all those things I thought I knew at 23 were wrong because they were still being written in my life's story. It doesn't matter if you don't know what you want to do, it only matters that you know you want to do something. Don't get bogged down in doing nothing and being fine with it and life will happen for you. The old man in me wanted to tell you that you need to have a plan A-F. But the more I thought about your post today, the more I Alize's that was wrong of me to think. You don't NEED plans A-F you just need to have the ability to form those plans. Even if you are stuck in another seven yrs, that still is not too late. Learn from everything that happens to you, good or bad. Accept your failures and don't celebrate your early successes. Use both for the next thing and the next after that. You can celebrate later when you know you achieved some milestone of importance. Almost nothing I knew I was going to be doing when I was 23 has panned out but dude I am a father of three now and stand on stepping stone that many many in my line of work have opted to retire on. I have bought two houses, paid off five cars, provided for the long term and had one hell of a fun time doing it. All of which happened because I allowed life to happen not because I followed a plan I hatched at 23. Best of luck to you brother

Well, first they love me, and then they don't. Sometimes they do it, and sometimes they won't.

I found temp agencies useful when I was younger and trying to find work. Tried a lot of different jobs, learned some things about what I was good at and what I needed to work on. If it was a good fit I usually got hired on full time.
