I like this gimmick more than any of the more recent ones.

I really like the concept. I would definitely be singing a different tune on it in high school or college.

Honestly I think it's more likely to drop their handheld sales than elevate their console ones but we'll see. The hybrid thing itself does nothing for me, since I don't leave the house all that much given I work from home and I get nauseous trying to play games in the car anyway, but if I get a Switch I'll definitely rebuy Splatoon given not being able to play it off TV is the biggest reason I never play it.

Yes! I will no longer have to stop playing when my attractive neighbor friends invite me to a rooftop party!

Upon second viewing, those side controllers seem a bit small when being used individually. I hope I don't get hand cramps when using them.

You're overlooking the biggest benefit of this, and that is that Nintendo will splitting their development less. Handheld teams and the console ones will both be producing for the same system, meaning it will have fewer library problems than the Wii U has/did.

I'll buy it just as long as the new console allows me to verbally and physically assault the asshole that just tossed the blue spiked shell.
Seriously. I'm stuck on Nintendo because they seem to be the only company that understands that quality same-room multiplayer is fun and worth all the bruises.

I haven't bought a Nintendo system since the N64 (I got a Wii as a gift in 2011 but it's been gathering dust the whole time) but I'm actually very tempted to get this. Pretty much sold on the idea of portable Skyrim alone.

Nintendo isn't dominant or submissive. It's a switch 😎

Soooooooo many fist fights caused by that f***ing blue shell. I do love that same room multiplayer was highlighted in this video tho

Concept is great, looks pretty slick, like cartridges, should be good for 3D games.
Sadly I don't like the look of the d-pad and face buttons positions when it comes to 2D games, I'd much rather it have a Vita style layout. Hopefully it will be more comfy than it appears.
Hopefully the digital prices are a bit more sensible too, especially as the portable multi-player looks like a focus as those games are best to have available at all times.

I think this might be the successors to both the Wii U and 3DS. 3DS is going to turn 6 next year and Sun and Moon might be the last major title for the 3DS before they put all their effort on the switch.

I just listened to ReviewTechUSA's video on the reveal and there is a good point there: it seems that Nintendo is targeting the "young adult" demographic, who are mostly the people who grew up in the NES/SNES/N64 era and now have responsibilities and can't be hassled with doing much stuff about their consoles, so this home/portable hybrid being as seamless as it was shown is great for that demographic. And I can speak for myself: I live over 300 km away from my actual home where I have my regular consoles. I work 9-18 and live in rented room and go home every other week for the weekend. This console, especially if they sell docks seperately (or at least allowing us to dock our own stations to any docks), can be great for someone like me and can even play on those 3 hour train trips to home and back again (I usually play 3DS, but if I can play Skyrim instead, you damned right I'll play some Skyrim! For 5th time!) coming back home and continuing, never losing the flow (I'm playing on my laptop in the rented room and on my 360 at home, so I have to change up a lot in there). And if you needed anything else to prove you in that direction, Codemasters is in there, so there are going to be some racing games for the young people people who basically just play racing games because cars are relatable to everyone in that demographic So, yeah, I'm very interested, especially if there's more Bethesda stuff and some JRPG's coming down the drain (I see Tokyo RPG Factory and Atlus in there. Not expecting much in the RPG front from SquareEnix, but they can at least put a "GOTY" version of the new Deus Ex like they did on the Wii U).

It's gonna depend on price point, and I imagine they'll support 3DS for a while still, but I do think the eventual plan is to have just the one platform going forward. I have a hard time seeing this launch at under $300, which will make it a hard sell to replace the 3DS anytime soon.

I really, really don't like the looks of it from the trailer. No way in hell I would pay over $200 for it. I think it's going to be a massive failure. But, being a big Nintendo fan, I hope I'm wrong in every way and it's awesome.
I can tell I'm getting old because all I could think while watching the trailer was, "Goddammit! Why won't they just drop the stupid gimmicks and release a 'real' console again! *shakes fist at cloud*"
