It seems like a pretty big hit to the rumors that they're going to announce a Genealogy of the Holy War remake soon to just up and put it on the Switch like this, even if it is Japan-only.
Really I wasn't putting too much stock into that anyway admittedly. I kind of feel like instead we're getting a new WarioWare soon.

You could buy Joe and Mac right now for two bucks on the Eshop.

I used to rent Joe & Mac all the time, and playing the sequel on the Switch surprised me with how fun it still was as a co-op game. Looking forward to checking out the original again and whatever the hell that spanky game is with the monkey fighting the big ass apple. Games are weird.
As far as DK rumors go, I have always wanted a good 3D platformer for DK done in the style of the original CG graphics (cleaned up to modern standards, but still vibrant and very shadowy). Though, my heart always belongs with those first three sidescrollers. I would love if it was in this style (this is not an actual game, just an animation):

Eh, Magical Drop II looks fun, and I'm sure there's a few people who would want to play Joe & Mac. Yeah, that game definitely caught my attention

Half of those games are the type where you gave it away for free at school and a week later you find the game shoved into your locker and the kid now hates you.

Super Bomberman R Online's coming to Switch, PS4, & Steam a week from tomorrow, likely because Konami figured keeping it chained to Stadia was essentially a death sentence in terms of actually getting new players.

85 bucks? What you think that this is MHA and most people have Quirks that let them create diamonds?

Played a few rounds of Knockout City this morning. I’m really, really enjoying this so far. Definitely recommend checking it out.
Hopefully it doesn’t become douchebag city when it gets popular.

The reception to the SNES games is flat out negative, over six thousand dislikes Nintendo fans being shitty babies? Must be a day that ends in Y. And, I get it, this isn't an amazing batch, but what do they expect at this point? Mario RPG? Likely never happening due to Square Enix. Any of the FF's? Same issue. Earthbound or even Earthbound Beginnings? Nintendo seems pensive to put it on Switch in any form right now. It's not impossible, but I'd be surprised if they did given the reverence they hold with it. Turtles in Time or Batman Returns or any licensed game? Total pipe dream. At this point, the top tier SNES stuff that can realistically be put on the service is on the service. And stuff like Mega Man X, Super Castlevania, Contra III, Secret of Mana or many of the other big ones can be purchased on Switch through collections. Honestly, Nintendo shouldn't have put so many high tier games out so early because we're seeing those results now. At this point, they should really get to doing a GBA service or even N64 (though that will run out quicker given likely no Rare titles aside from maybe Diddy Kong Racing and DK64)

Honestly I think people getting annoyed over the NES / SNES situation is completely justified given Sony and Microsoft put out fairly modern, sometimes very recent big budget games as part of their online service on a monthly basis but Nintendo can only be assed to put up a handful of ROMs no one's heard of two or three times a year. Yeah, Nintendo charges a lot less than they do, but Nintendo also doesn't have anything remotely resembling functional servers for most of their games so really the whole thing just feels like a giant ripoff anyway.
That said I can't be bothered to go dislike bomb the Youtube videos or post shit on Twitter about it because really, Nintendo doesn't give a f*** about what people think about anything ever and you're just being a nuisance to some poor intern.

They remind me of people in various collector communities I'm involved in: so many of them forget that their niche interests =/= the interests of the many. This isn't the best example of that since nobody was clamoring for these other games either, but acting so self-centered and childish when things don't go your way is that stinted emotional growth thing weebs are known for.

Nintendo's online insfruscture and handling of legacy content is so mediocre in various respects that quite frankly they're lucky that the response to it is as mild as Twitter complaints and downvotes on YouTube. its the kind of thing that just has me shrugging my shoulders any time I hear outrage about piracy of old titles. When the means to play games legally is this impractical it makes things like emulators inevitable.

Oh, Nintendo's handling of just about anything is terrible. They lose so much money and goodwill by how they handle their legacy stuff, the online infrastructure, etc. They deserve all the criticism for it, I just wish people would better know the line between being frustrated and being obnoxious.

If you're going to upload ROMs that nobody has heard of, then only doing it "whenever" makes the service feel less like a plus and more like a liability. People defend Nintendo all the time cause they're Nintendo, but at the same time, Nintendo makes a massive amount of money in spite of adhering to antiquated notions regarding game development, online shopping and gaming, and accountability. Most companies would kill to have that amount of goodwill earned and people willing to support the company online. I agree that bitching about it online directly does nothing cause it's not like any of this will affect the powers that be, but what else can we do? Any time people suggest not buying the games, the games usually sell very well.

I will say that indie titles have been a real godsend in that sense. I may not be thrilled at the lack of real releases for DKC, Paper Mario, or Metroid, but its far more enjoyable to play indie successors to them like Kaze the Wild Masks, Bug Fables, or numerous Metroidvanias than it is to s*** on Nintendo about it.

No real specifics are out yet, but apparently Square had a massive information leak and like all of their E3 shit is out in the wild. Mentioning it here since while there's nothing to say what it involves there's something or other heavily connected to Nintendo in with it. My guess would be Dragon Quest 12 being Switch-exclusive.

Well the Dragon Quest stream is Thursday so there'll be a concrete answer to that.
