NES Tetris gets added on December 12th

Does really feel bizarre to me that they announced a release of a widely seen as bad version of Tetris on a service that already has a far more beloved version of Tetris available months ahead of schedule. What a strange thing to even bother putting up, much less to make kind of a big deal out of. It's like if they announced alongside the DKCR port they were putting up the Game Boy Color version of DKC1 it's like, cool, why?

I wouldn't say it's as bad a version since it's usually the one most prominently used in speedruns. Not sure how well the Switch port will be able to make speedrunning it viable.

I remember from SummoningSalt's vids that they usually use a modded version of Tetris that allows it to show the score correctly and such, so they probably won't speedrun it much.

Donkey Kong Land III has been released on NSO, with the Japanese service getting the regional exclusive GBC version.

Could be trying to do some soft advertising both for the theme park section and the Returns port on Switch. Keep DK semi-relevant week to week in some fashion while adding to NSO. They could probably keep it going given the various Donkey Kong titles (DK94, DK64, Diddy Kong Racing, the DKC GBA Trilogy) still yet to release on the online service.

I KNOW I owned Diddy Kong Racing, and I have all of my N64 stuff but that cartridge is missing for some reason. So I'd be thrilled to have it up there.


Top of my wishlist is Mischief Makers though. But as I recall there are some "who owns this?" copyright issues with that one.

On Diddy Kong Racing I could see them waiting until whenever they start doing DS games, since I imagine there is a certain level of, "We don't want eight-year-olds to Google Conker," going into the game not being up yet.
