It's incredibly hit and miss. What hits is fantastic (Andrew Scott as Moriarty is just sublime, and the framing of the Christmas story was very clever) whereas what sinks is utterly terrible ('Belgravia' managing to be more regressive in its treatment of Irene Adler than a story literally written in the 1800s). While I didn't hate that episode (it was nowhere near my favorite.) I do have to agree since Adler was about the only person in the original works to get one over on Sherlock Holmes and gets away scot-free. Yeah, though it's worth noting that Watson intimates in the original stories that we only see some of the cases, ones he deems particularly notable and is at liberty to talk about. I think he said that Adler wasn't his only failure, but he did refer to her as "THE woman", and she stood out as someone who beat him. Like, he didn't always solve the case, but this is I believe the only time he found the suspect, but was outsmarted by them.

The episode as a whole was mixed for me. {Spoiler}The Thatchers Mystery was really not much of one, and it became a whole different series of interconnected stories after the contents of the final bust were revealed. The show is pretty much tailor-made for tumblr fangirls and their obsession with the whole Johnlock drama so it's sad to see Mary go just to further it...although did they have to give John a wandering eye? It just felt like they needed John to have an imperfection to make the notion Mary died thinking he was perfect hit viewers emotionally, but it was so tame and the whole thing was basically "sexting" anyway, I thought it was comical.
I love that Sherlock's vow was pretty much deconstructed on the sheer basis that if he hadn't been the smug arsehole that he was, that gun need never have been fired and Mary wouldn't have died
Molly as usual is used minimally, I liked the exchange she had with Holmes at the end, you can tell she's torn between her duty as Godmother to the baby and her friendship with Sherlock, but ultimately has to pick John, likely so he does'nt take the baby away from her when it badly needs caring.

What the hell was that? It was all over the place.
I wish they'd just return to focusing on the main two solving the mystery of the week together, I'm not really into the other stuff.

"Go to hell, Sherlock" already has a few fan theories...including the possibility Mary means Hell in Norway
But yeah, its' not about the self-contained mysteries anymore, they're all handled in just under five minutes or in half an hour, the rest of it is devoted to the soap opera or the LOST-style overall mythology arc

While I enjoy Sherlock most of the time I just fell I'd rather be watching the Brett series.
"The Six Napoleons" (Which the last episode was based on) was FAR superior and that was only 60 mins

This makes me roll my eyes, it's so vague and could apply to anyone. Ultron? Emperor Palpatine? Khan?

This makes me roll my eyes, it's so vague and could apply to anyone. Ultron? Emperor Palpatine? Khan? You just know there's going to be a fan comic of Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Bilbo Baggins, Everett K. Ross, and Dr. Strange vs. Khan, Smaug, and Dormammu at some point.

Now that's what you call a cracking bit of tv, it surely was. {Spoiler}Moffat pulls the rug right from under you...the true big bad hidden in plain sight just like Culverton. That was a masterstroke, to be the stand-in for the daughter was one thing, but SHERRIFORD/EUROS? I thought she was going to be Moriarty in drag or Irene Adler too.
The exchange between Sherlock and Culverton in the children's ward was frightening. In fact I noticed the ladies working on the breakfast cereal ad were also kind of underage-looking. Yes, Culverton was clearly based on Jimmy Saville, although they thankfully only made light allusions to Saville tropes and made it more about his serial killer fetish.
Mrs Hudson is fierce behind that wheel.

Trailer for The Final Problem Here's my theory on what's going to happen {Spoiler}Every scene John is in during this trailer is'nt actually John...he's either dead or has been stashed away by Euros (possibly in that well that he's seen in during the other trailers), this is John in the mind palace, hell maybe even the John caught in the explosion is also a part of Sherlock, since we've already seen John cope with Mary being a figment of his imagination. At the end of the story, Sherlock either finds John =or comes to terms with his partner's death, ultimately deciding to return to London and raise little Rosie with Molly

Episode 1 I thought was OK, a bit hit and miss. Episode 2 was great, Culverton Smith came across as so sinister and creepy.
Cracking episode.

Not a bad finale, but I kind of thought it fell apart with it's multiple twists at the end {Spoiler}I thought Victor/redbeard was the fourth brother, until it became clear on a reviewing that he was Sherlock's original "best friend", also why was Uros still in her nightgown when Sherlock finds her in the bedroom when she had shown herself to constantly change outfits when allowed to roam free in the prior episode? The idea that she just wanted Sherlock to play with her and help her get out of her mind palace at the end was a tad too convoluted and narrarively just did'nt allign with what she'd been doing all episode.
Is this a detective show, or an attempt at aping an X-Men movie? Because Urous is pretty much a mutant with that ability she had of maximum persuasion. You mean to tell me Moriarty's whole agenda in The Reichenbach Fall was because he was promoted by Sherlock's mary sue sibling? Kind of taints the effectiveness of that episode now knowing Jim was a mind-warped pawn and not his own man.
Still, I'm quite satisfied that Sherlock's "I love you" was aimed at Molly, even if he was only forced to say it to save her life...I liked the little tantrum he had after he was emotionally compromised. I wonder where this leaves the two of them? Molly seemed pretty pleased when she appeared in the last scene, so either she forgave him for the call, or they're taking a decent stab at a relationship

Best episode of the bunch, absolutely fantastic...although in true Sherlock style it was sometimes too clever for its own good.
