You hit the nail on the head. I think that's the case with a lot of franchises. People have a crazy nesolgic attachment to this stuff and if you mess it up people are going to be brutal. I've said it before Justice League and Justice League Unlimited was life at one point. Hell growing up the only Marvel heroes on my radar were Spiderman and the Xmen. I was a complete DC fangirl. To see what WB and ESPECIALLY Zack Snyder has done to this pisses me off. For me it goes back to comic books carrying the stigma of being "dumb kids stuff" by Hollywood, so whenever something got made into a movie it was either treated as a two-hour toy commercial, dumbed down and kiddiefied, only superficially resembling the source material, or a combination of all three. The fact that comic book movies are now "legitimate" and aren't subject to those pitfalls makes the mess that is the DCEU even more unforgivable. I don't understand why WB and DC didn't just take the time to build a universe. Say what you want about the MCU, but its a complete fully realized universe.

Now their not only playing catch up, they're doing damage control and praying they haven't dug themselves so deep that they have to reboot the whole damn thing.

DC does excellent TV. I watch every single DC related show.
If you count across networks and not just whats on the CW, You have...
The Flash Arrow Supergirl Legends of Tomorrow Gotham Lucifer And to a lesser extent iZombie
All of which are hits.

They're making these movies as if they're expecting the comic book movie bubble to burst, so are rushing them out while the money's still there to be had. The catch with that is good, well made movies will make big money more often than not, while badly-made ones fall victim to the law of diminishing returns. BVS made at least $350-500 million less than it should've done thanks in part to the negative press it got. How many who paid for tickets for that are going to give DC-WB a second chance? Or third, if we count Suicide Squad? Marvel has flaws but they make movies that satisfy critics, fans, and casuals, and that's why the MCU could still be going strong long after the DCEU has been rebooted or mothballed.

The MCU is about to hit the big test. What to do after Thanos. DC could have easily slid in that spot.

That bubble might not bust for another 10 years I don't see it ever really busting. We live in a time where its getting stranger if your not into superheros and the like. That's what makes me so happy. The things I sometimes got made fun of for liking are completely mainstream culture.

That bubble might not bust for another 10 years Comic book movies have been consistently making good-to-great money at the box office since 1978 though. The dedicated market is there, while the casual market can be attracted by positive word-of-mouth and built-up goodwill. While the market will fluctuate, as long as good movies keep getting cranked out the money will always be there.

But really the 80's and early 90's wasn't that great other then the first two Batman movies.
There a reason people give credit to Blade, X-Men and Spider-Man for bringing new life

We live in a time where CB movies aren't even being made just for kids anymore.
I mean Deadpool and Logan are things that would have never happened 10 years ago.

There a reason people give credit to Blade, X-Men and Spider-Man for bringing new life The '90s wasn't a great decade in terms of quality, because comic book movies were seen as cheap to make, dumb entertainment, but all four Batman movies turned substantial profits, as did all three Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtes movies. The Crow, The Mask, Dick Tracy, Men In Black, and Time Cop were all successes too.
