That mustache thing reminded me of something - I have a co-worker who used to run the screenings of the dailies for Jurassic World when it was in production.
He told me a lot of stories about the weird things they CGI out.
One of the actresses (really more of an extra, but I think she had a few lines at the time but they were cut) in the raptor pit scene had tattoos on her arm and the tattoo artist came to the studio demanding payment for using her original art in the movie. Apparently it's pretty common and the studios usually pay out for it, but this artist was such a jerk about they actually informed the CGI house to digitally remove her tattoos from her arm in every scene she's in.
Another funny story was there was an entire day of shooting where Chris Pratt's hair looked funny so he asked the director to digitally correct it. The CGI house had to go in and digitally fix Chris Pratt's hair (I think it's the scene where he's standing on the walkway above the pit and maybe a couple others).
My co-worker who was running the dailies couldn't believe all the random stuff they were removing with seemingly expensive CGI.
So removing a mustache from a few scenes can't be that big a deal! haha!
Regarding the "extensive reshoots" - I think the cost has more to do with scheduling than actually trying to re-jigger the whole story through reshoots. Between the director needing time off (rightfully so) and scheduling stuff with the actors, it's going to inflate the re-shoot costs a bit because securing crew, location, equipment, etc can really add up if you have to spread it over more time.
I don't really get the big hub-bub over it, tbh.
Reshoots happen. Sometimes they're more expensive, sometimes they're not. It's not really an indicator of anything and it always cracks me up how people try to read into it like tea leaves.

Short answer, and I could be completely wrong here, but I imagine it's the same reason why John Stewart was in the Justice League cartoon: in a word, demographics. I think you are right, besides him and John Stewart I can't even think of one big african american superhero in DC. Being that he had his own solo TV series, what about Static?

This caused controversy with The Hangover 2 when the artist behind Mike Tyson's facial tattoo demanded compensation for Ed Helms' tattoo in the film.

Really good cartoon and I would LOVE if he was bigger. But sadly I don't think many people know him, even if he had a solo TV series. Hell,I didn't even know he was part of DC as a kid, even if there was those crossover episodes.

You know I wouldn't mind them trying to make Mr. Terrific a bigger thing in movies/cartoons/comics. Huge fan of his and would fulfill the same idea Cyborg does, in that he is a technical genius.

Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, Plastic Man and Phantom Girl The creators flat out said they are trying to make it like a Lee and Kirby Fantastic Four book... which makes sense when you consider the characters used.

I thought the trailer was fine. It's pretty telling that there was a heavy focus on Diana, since she's the character that could potentially put asses in seats now. I still don't know what to make of Ezra Miller's Flash. I'm a big fan of the show, so it would be difficult to top Grant Gustin for me, but I want to give him a chance. Really not digging what we've see of Flash so far. They're really dialing up on the "awkward" shtick. Conversely, I never would of guessed I would be most excited to see Aquaman!

And now it's being reported by Joe Morton who plays Ray Stone, he heard from Cyborg that Whedon's reshoots are to lighten the tone of the film. comicbook.com/2017/08/11/justice-league-reshoots-cyborg-tone/Even though it's from a cast member still better to take it with a grain of salt since he admits that he is basing this off what he heard not what he himself saw. But considering what WB had done in the past I wouldn't be horribly surprised if we get two movies stitched together again.

I'm willing to cut the movie a little slack due to the circumstances surrounding the reshoots, but considering the reaction to BVS I'd have thought they'd have added some levity before production started.
I'm guessing that similar to the Suicide Squad trailers the levity seen in the first teaser was almost all there was in the original script.

Basically, he's the JLU Wally in Barry's body. Or their version of Holland Spider-Man.

To the point where Cyborgs lines are dubbed by the actor who voices Cyborg on Teen Titans Go?

I wonder if it’s just for the Justice League movie, or from that section of the DCEU altogether?

Reports are stating in the latest cut another side character was removed completely. {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Iris West has been cut, joining Zucker-luthor on the cutting room floor
