Dwayne Mcduffie had what he called the 'rule of 3', where you could have up to 2 black dudes on a show/team whatever, but any more and it becomes a "black" show/comic/whatever.
Kinda still plays in here it seems.
Though as far as minority characters go, Cyborg never really had his race emphasized that much; at least not in the Wolfman/Perez days that I recall. Him being black wasn't played up any differently as Robin being white most of the time.

He and Flash both have horrible looking "costumes". Just too many lines and edges, it honestly looks like they were built out of Legos. They look even worse in CGI. New 52 Flash was the ruination of the Flash costume. There was never any issue with it before, but realism and Jim Lee wonkyness had to work their way in and needlessly complicate something that just worked. They bulked New 52 Cyborg up something awful, too (and this is a character that had already made it thru the '90s with some bulked up nonsense) - though they scaled things back a bit when he got his first ongoing book. Not sure if he's puffed up again since Rebirth. I think this look in the movie, which I don't even mind, is just not really knowing how to translate it to a person successfully. But hey at least they're trying though; they could go the DC TV route and just having the headgear & a leather jacket or something. That was the one thing that I hated about the New 52, how everyone's outfit looked like it was plated armor, even Superman's, which really made even less sense than Flash's and GL's uniforms being like that. The only one who came out better was Wonder Woman (and really, all they did was change her uniform from gold to silver). With Cyborg, they're basically making him their version of Iron Man, with less design care, and it shows.

I still can't get past Aquaman bro-yelling "YEAHYUH!" in the trailer like he's Lars Ulrich. I have a feeling while everyone goes nuts for Momoa, I'm not going to be able to take him seriously at all.

His New 52 series was the best of all of the main hero reboots that I read, in my opinion.

Aquaman has been great since I started reading comics (around 92), people alaways mention that f***ing cartoon as their "proof" of Aquaman being lame

I'm personally just kind of the dreading the movie. I'm hoping I'll like it - I wound up completely loving Wonder Woman - but I'm not expecting it given the universe so far has a 25% hit rate for me.

I just read someone elsewhere describe him as "playing Lobo dressed as Aquaman" and just realized how fitting it is. Really, Aquabro just seems like a great example of fixing something that wasn't broken to appeal to one group, namely the group of folks who use the over 40 year old Superfriends cartoon as their sole point of reference for Aquaman jokes.

Not gonna lie, if they've incorporated the Keaton-era Batman theme into the score I'll mark out like a little girl at an Enrique Iglasias concert.

So apparently the 120 minute runtime thing has been confirmed. You know, with all the shit this movie needs to do it's probably going to be a scattershot mess given that but not gonna lie, I vastly prefer that over pushing three hours.

Honestly, for the most part you oughta be able to tell a story in two hours or so. There are always exceptions of course, but this trend of every damn thing being nearly 3 hours is nuts.
NO Transformers flick needs more than 120 minutes.

NO Transformers flick needs more than 120 minutes. Which is only made worse by the fact that sequels are almost always longer, even when it doesn't remotely necessitate it. Since the DCEU already started off on the long side, I imagine we'll be getting FOUR hour movies by the time we reach the Justice League sequel.

Was talking with a friend the other night about how it's really been a banner year for superhero movies. The lowest ranked one on Rotten Tomatoes is GotG 2, which is still fresh at 82%. Logan, Wonder Woman, Homecoming and Ragnarok all scored over 90%.
Sort of a high bar for Justice League to meet.

First clip featuring THE Batman theme is out. And well, I think I need to change my shorts.
