To be fair, you don't necessarily have to build like Marvel did. It worked gangbusters for them, but you don't HAVE to do a team that way. X-men didn't. Except perhaps for Wolverine, no one in the X-Men is a star though, as it were. If anything WB left a ton of money on the table by not doing a Batman movie, a second Superman solo, etc.

I'm waiting to find out how much screen time Superman has before I decide if I'm seeing this in theaters. I'm outright not interested if he's barely in it. Cavill needs a fair shake at the role.

That's WB's fault, and Wonder Woman and Flash are finally coming along.

It makes sense. This movie has to win back the trust of the audience after BvS. No one wants to go in blind just to get another dose of moody gray nonsense.

So basically, it's like an okayish episode of Raw: Fun at times, but flawed as hell?

Honestly, what's giving me a little hope for this movie is its run time. 119 minutes. One hour and 59 minutes. That's palatable. If the movie turns out to be lousy, at least it's only two hours so it's not the oversized, overstuffed mess that "Batman v Superman" was. By the end of that 151-minute slog, I felt like I'd just endured a 15-round prize fight.
So while I'm not expecting anything revolutionary with "Justice League," I take solace in the fact that the movie should be right to the point.
Then again, "Suicide Squad" was only 123 minutes and that felt like an eternity. So maybe the quality of the movie still matters way more than the quantity, especially when it comes to the DC universe.

I think not as they just repackaged those figures from an article from last month where they were trying to estimate what it could make. Check it out

Check it out They're saying that tracking figures haven't changed since the original figures were published. Tracking is normally at its most accurate in the days leading up to release, so, while still only an estimate, it's a far more informed estimate than it was last month.

I'm planning on seeing both it and Thor back-to-back tomorrow - not really interested in Thor but it's just more convenient for me schedule-wise to see them back to back than solely going out to see Justice League would be. So we'll see which one I end up preferring, I guess.

so Ben Affleck made a really poorly conceived joke.
a reporter asked about another female heroine joining the Justice League since right now it's just Wonder Woman... and said something like "What would you be up to?"
His response was "Are you following the news at all?"
for f***s sake Ben.

I know Marvel's more established, I know it's nothing to sneeze at since Thor did a massive opening, but all the same if Justice League really does end up doing a worse opening weekend than Thor that's something DC should be actively embarrassed about and a clear case of them just pissing away a surefire thing. Same way there's really no excuse for Batman vs. Superman not breaking a billion.

Saw it just now... And the reviews are pretty spot on. It's not a "bad" film, but the tone feels really inconsistent. Like serious-comedy-serious-comedy and for me, the comedy fell really flat. Additionally, the pacing feels super fast. It's two hours but it feels like the film doesn't have time to let things just breath. Ever see Mortal Kombat: Annihilation? It felt like that kind of pace. I don't know who to blame: Zack Synder, Joss Whedon, WB corporate bigwigs... it just felt slapped together in some parts. Although they made Aquaman fairly badass I thought they kinda made the Flash like a total dweeb. I just feel like this film was really cut down to fit into a two hour length. In fact, I thought I spotted a continuity error in one scene. Wonder Woman has an additional article of clothing and I was like, "Where the hell did that come from?" Two after credits scenes: One after a short like 10 second credit and one at the very end. Finally BIG SPOILER ABOUT THE AFTER CREDITS SCENE: WARNING!{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}Why do the Legion of Doom now? I get maybe they don't want to do Darkseid because of the Thanos comparsions, but Legion of Doom just feels early to me when the DC universe has had stumble after stumble. Man, can you imagine what the DC universe would have been like with a Kevin Feige at the helm? Or at least someone who understood these characters a lot better?

Dreamworks animation always gets compared to recent Pixar and Disney, RomComs get compared to other RomComs etc. You never hear anyone say "Emoji Movie only got bad reviews because they were making comparisons to Inside Out" EDIT: And any reviews I've ever read use it compare 2 movies trying to achieve similar goals, and point to what succeeded in one to what failed or fell flat in another. It's perfectly reasonable, because odds are most people wanting to see one have likely seen the other, so it's a frame of reference

Well, what the f*** are they supposed to compare it to? Platoon and Toy Story? In any genre I find comparing movies to be a very strange way to review a film. It is occasionally done well, but there are times when it's done in a way that's fairly nonsensical. When Suicide Squad came out every other reviewer compared it to GotG which seems way off base to me as they were two different kinds of films altogether aside from existing in the same genre. It'd be like comparing Saving Private Ryan to Inglorious Bastards. Both are WWII movies but trying to compare the two is a bit disingenuous because you're basically saying "I'm not reviewing this movie for what it's trying to do but what it could have done if it were more like this other movie I already enjoy." And it happens in all sides of every fandom. So this isn't me singling out superhero movies. Personally I say just review the movie as its own thing. I'm sure JL will be full of PLENTY of issues completely unrelated to drawing comparisons to Avengers or X-Men or whomever.
