I appreciate Austin wanting to fire him up but I think there's something to be said for taking some time to enjoy your success. If "resting on your laurels" means being happy with your position then I don't see a problem. I don't think it means your lazy. It could lead to that but Ambrose doesn't seem the type.

i get ya. I just think Ambrose was in his off switch. I think backstage he turns it up and is all sharky and shit. he even said thats what him and rollins were saying about not giving a f*** if people hate him. I don't think you get as far as dean if you don't have some kind of edge to you. I get his laid back attitude. But just some of the answers to Austin's questions made me feel like Austin was expecting a lot more out of Ambrose. Hell, I was expecting a lot more out of Ambrose's answers because I'm a fan of his. But I didn't get that feeling that he's a shark like Cena, Austin, Rock, anyone who has ever been the top guy of the company has. Dudes back in the Attitude era wanted to cut each others heads off. Yeah, the Shield thing was cool and whatnot but it's what you do after it's over. I got the feeling more than ever about that "people walking on eggshells backstage" report from awhile back. I'm like, come on Dean. You should've gotten your run a few years ago, man. It's easy to get a run now because the roster is split in half and you're a good talent. But when are you going to be like "screw creative, screw this "Lunatic Fringe" label that I don't know where the hell it came from, this is what I want to do and it's final!". That's what I got out of Punk when he got his run, I think his situation worked out differently because the company hated him from the start. But that's another story. This is true I think. Even a guy like The Rock who apparently didn't really play politics all that much, still had the attitude of looking out for number one and making sure nobody treated him badly. Batista and Brock have both said Rock gave them advice to get in , make as much money as you can and then get out.

Just watched it, and it was definitely uncomfortable in places. I thought Austin was a complete dick when he wouldn't get off of the childhood stuff. The guy was clearly uncomfortable, and no one tuned in to see some Barbara Walters expose anyway. Should have just jumped to the early days of his wrestling career after that.
Also, I laughed so hard when Ambrose gave zero f***s about burying Lesnar's attitude. Austin then goes on to tell Dean to start pushing the envelope and all that, five minutes after he buried the highest paid special attraction in the company. It didn't make any sense.

I just watched it, really enjoyed it, good interview. From the comments people posted I assumed it was going to be much more awkward, maybe I'm just used to interviews often getting unexpectedly real/confrontational from Marc Maron podcasts and stuff.
I don't think it was anything Dean can't handle, and ultimately Austin is pretty clearly a fan of Dean.

Awwwww, after MITB this year I love how they legitimately care for each other, and it really shows in their matches with each other.

I love Dean, but I really didn't enjoy this. I don't know if he didn't really want to talk about certain things or what, but I don't think he was giving Austin much to work with. And for that, I think Austin got a little frustrated.

I can't get "Stoner Christian" out of my head when I think of Ambrose now. He totally comes off as a stoned version of Captain Charisma.

I played a match between the two on 2k16 and boy it was almost as awkward as the podcast.

was one of the worst SCSA podcasts. At least the Paige interview gave us a GIF.
it's really just kind of night and day when Austin has guys he knows IRL on the show like Big Show, Edge & Christian, Heyman etc instead of people he probably has talked to a few times and largely just knows via a wikipedia page he was briefed on before the show goes live.

Oh i get it. I'm a fan of dean since he said "nope" live on monday night raw. The dude is just super chill and even I got frustrated but I guess he is part of a new breed of performers wwe has now. WWE has changed a lot since the days of Austin or even punk so who knows what attitude is best to have in the company now. I think a lot of these guys have to play ball first to get what they want. or idk im tired Yeah, I know I've been venting about this, so I gotta scale back and look back at what Dean has to work with. But it just feels like the mood backstage is a little buddy buddy and what can I do so I don't hurt my buddy backstage, compared to cut off the head of a snake mood back in the days. I miss those days, honestly. I don't. That kind of attitude is what drove Austin to a near total mental breakdown and self-destruction in 2002. He beat up his wife, nearly killed himself with energy drinks, and thought Vince was plotting to have him assassinated in a hotel suite. He was a c-hair away from tragedy. It also creates the kind of atmosphere that allows things like Wrestler's Court and bullying/hazing to thrive. I'd much rather have a friendly laid back locker room then have a bunch of coked out paranoid jocks worried about how the Steiner Bros are going to retaliate (they've been known to strip guys they didn't like, duct-tape them to tables, and shove pencils up their ass) for a trivial perceived slight. Austin should have moved off the personal stuff and got straight into Dean's wrestling career. I totally get Dean not wanting to talk about his mother being a prostitute on the WWE network. Just like I'd get Austin not wanting to talk about his run in with the law in regards to the Debra situation.

I've watched all the podcasts on the Network thus far. This one..did not care for it. I like both guys for their work, but this was cabbage. Still waiting for the Undertaker one.

I just finished watching through this, and yeah, it was rough. I know that I bitch a lot (Probably too much...) about Ambrose, but he was rough during this. Like someone else mentioned, he wasn't giving Austin much and it was obvious that Austin was getting irritated.
The main story out of this is whether or not Lesnar kills this man.

Boring interview if they were smart they'd have Jericho host the shows with the younger/current cats and stick Austin with the old guys cause he seems more interested with guys he knows.
I want to know more about this health club.

I haven't watched the podcast yet, but, I can't blame Dean for being uncomfortable talking about negative things from his childhood. Until fairly recently, I never talked about the few times I was beat up when I was younger. If I was being interviewed, and the host didn't seem to stop bringing that up, I would be uncomfortable.

The Braun interview that he recorded before RAW and uploaded to his Steve Austin Show feed last night was better than this interview. This one was... just kinda weird chemistry. Not as awkward as Paige's but still kinda off.
Check out the Braun one though, made me like him a lot more. Seems like a chill dude. Austin gave him some cool wrestling and character advice too that was fun to hear.

I thought it was great. Austin is always intense. I thought Ambrose came across really well in terms of his passion and desire to be the best. Plus the internet nerd in me loves how he shitted on the creative team for stifling actual creativity.
