Girl Meets World fell victim to the same thing that killed iCarly, I think. A really fun, quirky show eventually became about who was going to wind up romantically with who, to the exclusion of everything else. The romance part isn't even that bad (though as I mentioned before, it is kinda forced and is drawn out as hell) My gripe is that the last dozen episodes have been "Riley and the gang find themselves and grow as people", only with the drama turned up to about a 13 on a scale of 1-10. Episodes about Riley and friends finding themselves aren't bad either, but the super heavy way they talk makes it even worse. Like how many times an episode do they mention how glad they are that they're all friends and how special the world is in some ham fisted way? It's like they have all this dialogue for stuff that's like latter season BMW, but because it's on the Disney Channel, their situations aren't as deep or earned so it comes off as preachy.

Boy Meets World also got into the more deep stuff organically over the course of its run, where GMW went from 0 to 60 out of nowhere in the middle of season 2. The original had a great balance to it and it worked. This one is forcefully trying to be deep and preachy, and it sure seems to have turned people off

You also can't keep dragging stuff out.
Every episode this season is (Someone): "Lucas. you have to make a choice Lucas: "I don't want to. I mean, how do I do that?"
Even at it's cheesiest, the original didn't drag out the Corey/Topanga chase(s) this long

I am still kind of impressed the lead genuinely looks like she could be Ben Savage's daughter. That's good casting.

It's amazing how Girl Meets World and Fuller House used a similar formula, yet GMW sucked ass and Fuller House is freaking perfect.

It's gotten good ratings hasn't it? You have to be getting pretty bad ratings from the start and a total retooling before Disney gives up on you.

Both shows are back because of, and are appealing to, the 90's nostalgia demographic. The difference is that Fuller House is on Netflix and has more freedom to have "grown up"a little, while Girl Meets World has the handicap of being on Disney and is kinda stuck straddling the line in terms of content. Sure, BMW was corny at times, but they delt with some heavy stuff at times and did so with content and an offbeat humor that Disney can't/wont touch

Honestly Sabrina is the best thing about the new cast, I like her and think she has a good future in acting. For you sir, may I suggest you check out Milo Murphy's Law.

Sure, BMW was corny at times, but they delt with some heavy stuff at times and did so with content and an offbeat humor that Disney can't/wont touch Part of the difficulty comes with Boy Meets World having essentially three eras: Early, High School, College, with a lot of big differences between them. Compare the end of the series, especially Eric Matthews, to the early series. It's almost a different show. That was mostly organic watching it, but if you're trying to make a successor that emulates BMW, you have to either try to force a spectrum in, or you have to pick an era to be the most like, and that isn't going to please everyone, either, since the early series didn't get quite so heavy, and the later stuff can often be a little removed from reality with its humor. Silly stuff happened to Cory in Middle School, but Mankind didn't show up to whoop ass. With Full House, it stayed pretty consistent. The girls got older, and the stories sometimes got a little heavier, but they dabbled with that early, too. The two major changes would have been Michelle getting old enough to get her own plots, and Becky joining the cast, both of which happened before the halfway point.

Oh, I think you're right and I can't blame the writers entirely for having to pick an era, but I do think they misread what the fanbase wanted. Doing the late middle/high school transition right off the bat wasn't a bad idea per se, but they're being far too preachy. Every episode post season 1 hit you with a lesson about how special it is that everyone in the gang is friends and how wonderful the universe can be. That's fine to hit on that, but they pretty much Lucilled the audience with it on a weekly basis....well....semi weekly (seriously, the show never really got much traction. Seemed like you'd get 2 or 3 episodes in a row, then a 3-4 week break in between. Kinda hard to build a fanbase, but I digress....) I loved seeing Corey and Topanga again. But at this stage, I think cancellation might be a mercy killing

If they shopped a season 4 to Netflix I don't see why they wouldn't pick it up. Especially since Netflix's slogan seems to be "Sure, why not?"

I think Disney has handled it well and it did give it some freedom-its light, but so was BMW. I think the show holds its own regardless of if anyone from the past shows up.

Well I be okay if Sabrina got her own show after this, I have seen less deserving actors who were supporting players on a Disney Channel show get a seconc show to be the star.

It's probable they might, and if she did, probably with a raise. Debby Ryan went from Suite Life to Jessie, Peyton List went from Jessie to Bunk'd, and over on Nickelodeon, Miranda Cosgrove got iCarly after Drake and Josh, Victoria Justice went from Zoey 101 to Victorious, Amanda Bynes got the Amanda Show after All That, etc. I guess they like to go with proven actresses and actors, along with giving viewers familiar faces. Makes sense, I guess, so she'll probably find something to do.
