What a fun episode tonight. Dave killed it tonight big time. Been a fan of the guy since I saw him Robin Hood Men in Tights. One of my favorite people on this planet.

Not as good as I thought it could be, but still amazing. I kinda wish he hadn't starred in the episode right after the Trump election. But it is what it is. He had some good jokes and a nice take on it, but overall it just seemed like overkill. The show beat that into the ground. The Neegan and bar skits were amazing. Also, the Weekend Update thing with the women minorities elected had me almost in tears. That was absolute perfection. They did a great job with that show.

The ep was great and Dave didn't disappoint. Though I don't think I'll ever get used to him being jacked.

Was thinking about this I wish NBC would find a way with the rights would love to see some of the old shows on netflix They've got their own video streaming service, Seeso, which has the old episodes (though some have sketches missing). They've got other shows, too. |

The best bit Chappelle did was about being black and rich and how a black president was then elected who wanted to help everybody out. That's the type of thing that makes guys like him and Rock geniuses. That they can turn something everyone knows just slightly and make everyone laugh, because no one has seen it that way even though it was right under our nose. It's like a Beautiful Mind situation, but for comedy instead of math.

The opening piano song was all the more harrowing once I read Kate was a lesbian, and has to be sickened by what may happen in the next two years.

Last night's episode of SNL was so good, that it proved that we don't need Saturday Night Live anymore. But rather what we need is a show co-hosted by Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock in its place.

Just caught the cold open. SNL patted itself on the back so hard, I'm surprised it didn't break its arm.
Aside from that Barry Horowitz impression, I liked what I saw. It's always nice to see "Chappelle's Show" characters brought back to life a decade after the show went off the air, if only for a reminder of how impossibly brilliant that show was and how much of a comet it was, becoming an enormous, transcendent cultural phenomenon only to fade away in less than three years. I also got more than a few laughs out of the "Election Night" skit with Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock, arguably the funniest non-debate political skit of the season.
If last night proved anything to me, it's that Dave Chappelle still has his fastball.

I think he'd be an awesome talk show host, but not the glad-handing kiss-ass talk shows like Jimmy Fallon or Stephen Colbert or Jimmy Kimmel, but sort of the political discussion roundtable type with more of a comedic slant like Bill Maher or more serious hosts like Charlie Rose. Chappelle clearly knows what he's talking about, he's unflinching and biting in his commentary, and he doesn't cater to one side of the political spectrum. |

It looks like WRAL did some censoring on Chappelle, I hope someone does a Botchamania Ending with the words "Benoit", "Snuka" and "CM punk" (three people Unpersoned by the WWE) SHOWN ON SCREEN WHEN AUDIO IS MUTED

I've taken an indefinite leave from Twitter, and tip toe around Facebook because I can't escape that anywhere. Yeah I know SNL always sent up current events, but for the last year or so it's been moreso like the "S" now stands for not Saturday, but Soapbox. TV should help one escape from the strife of the world around us. As it is, I only have been watching SNL when my friends have it on for this reason. I'm not going to get into anything lock-worthy, and I'm actually middling in political tastes, but I said before that the Trump stuff vs. anyone else comes off like a WWE DVD: they'll make passing jokes about the candidates they like, but then totally bury the ones they don't. Like how talking heads will chuckle at the Gobbledygooker, then go on and on about WCW stupidity by comparison. |
