Imagine booking WrestleMania and thinking Charlotte should go over. That was bullshit, the storyline called for Becky to win, Sasha winning would have been alright, but Charlotte was the wrong choice to win. I was a duff move but honestly the booking that night was shit all round.

That was bullshit, the storyline called for Becky to win, Sasha winning would have been alright, but Charlotte was the wrong choice to win. Her reign was already stagnating and starting this relaunch off with a heel winning the way she won and since that had been the finish to all her makes for 5 months by then, it was just a terrible move. And on that card, that match was right in the middle of heels winning everything so the energy was off so another heel winning in a BS way just set it off so wrong. Yeah, considering how good that match was(MOTN) & how much the crowd was into it, if Sasha or Becky had won, the roof would've blown off the place...basically, the reaction they wanted Roman to get after he won.

It would have been a bigger reaction than Sasha got when she eventually did win a few weeks ago. WWE had the opportunity for a truly great, iconic Wrestlemania moment, but they chose to screw it up. I don't think it will be remembered as fondly as it should be.

This was an awesome special.
I was a little surprised that they didn't mention AJ, Eve, McCool, or Layla. They showed Eve, McCool, and Layla, I can't remember if they showed AJ, but I'm surprised there was no mention of them.
Finlay talking about him and the girls getting heat for matches being too good was a good look into the bass ackwards thinking that was going on. So glad that's changed, and they've embraced that the women can be big draws.
And I said it in this thread, but with much they put over Bayley, yeah Triple H at worst wants her to be a face of the company. That's the worst outlook I could see Triple H having for her, I think he sees her as the face of the company in the future.
I would have liked them to mention that the Mania triple threat is widely considered to be the best match of the night. That's something you haven't seen, where the women take the spotlight at the biggest stage of them all and say "You are not following that, because we just stole Mania."
Trish and Lita will be on hand when Bayley vs Sasha main events a ppv.

I enjoyed the special immensely. I was rather surprised that they scrubbed AJ Lee's total involvement with the WWE clean from the "historical" books, though. She was the best Diva's Champ they had prior to the 'Revolution' but the editing makes it seem like between Lita/Trish's time main eventing RAW and now, the Bellas held the division together solely with their Twin Magic.
The behind-the-scenes on the matches, particularly the ones with Lita and Trish were pretty good. God I hope one or both of them make some kinda comeback run on Smackdown Live to usher in the 2nd Women's title as the seasoned vet who literally created these women's realities (since nearly all of the NXT-era superstars cited Trish/Lita as their reason for getting interested in the WWE).

They showed AJ for a second or so during the final montage (with the Just Like Magic song) LayCool and esp.Eve had lesser roles than AJ anyway, but they sure "filled the gap", even though they had very few memorable moments I agree, if Bayley stays healthy and doesn't get booked like 1999 Sable lol, she will be at least one of the top faces of the company easily Becky and Emma were really cute during their short talk segments here

Two minor things from this special to note (neither good or bad, just something to note) 1)After getting used to her on-screen character, it is weird to hear Lana talk sans accent.
2)I'm surprised when they showed the match line-up backstage when talking about the Lita/Trish main event, they didn't blur out Benoit's name on that listing.

This was a good special, things I noticed was Lana talking in her normal accent, that was odd. If they do that on here, will she do this on Total Divas? kind of ruins the whole wedding storyline which appears to be the main storyline of the show.
Even though I have warmed to The Bella Twins in recent times, to say they bridged the gap between Chyna/Trish/Lita to today was pretty insulting to Mickie James, Beth Phoenix, AJ Lee etc
I dont recall even one mention of Michelle McCool and very very very little footage of her...after that super human push she got its like she now never existed.

it felt like they glossed over a lot of stuff, and as people pointed out, it was mostly the diva title era. that was weird. and for the diva search girls, they could have given them some credit with the training they put in to become a passable wrestler. though christy hemme is definitely remembered more for having a hungry ass, than her match was WM21.
i dunno, i found the whole special kind of odd. it was very "this was how we used to treat them BUT NOW THEY'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE WRESTLEMANIA BANNER, HOW COOL IS THAT? WOMEN!"

This is pretty much how I felt about it. I find myself liking the NXT 4 a little bit less each time they're presented as a kind of corporate portfolio.

2 questions to save me watching this-
1. was AJ shown at all? 2. did Stephanie or HHH make it about themselves?

If they focused on every diva in history the show would be like 10 hours long. All they said was how bad it used to be and how much more respectful it is now. Did they want to be mentioned in the 'They weren't really used for eye candy but they still sucked and no one really cared about them' era?

No because 'the no one cared about them' line isn't true for a number of women.

I thought it was pretty good if a little brief. It mainly made me want Sasha to go back to being heel like in the Bayley matches! Disappointed at a lack of AJ like others have said but it's not surprising really.
It was slightly disingenuous how they acted like the 10 woman match at WM was part of the main thing and not on the pre show too.
Also I thought it was hilariously accidentally cruel of HHH and Natalya to say Bayley was great because she isn't hot.

I just think they skipped that era (for the most part) to the make the point of how far they've come from the gravy bowl era. All the women in the tweet McCool quoted were shown in the documentary apart from maybe Kaitlyn? Who let's face it, didn't even finish her cup of coffee, and I was a fan of hers.

For me, it's more that they lied to suit their narrative and I think that's what frustrates many. When Trish and Lita left, there was no reason to walk back the modest progress those two made. So, why did they? Especially when Mickie, for example, at several points had the kind of match you can build a division around. But they chose not to. In the documentary, they made it seem like no one except the Bellas clicked with audiences until 2015. Objectively, I can understand that a corporate entity will go with whatever narrative they want. I'm simply weary of seeing the fans buy into the revisionist history that there was nothing between Trish/Lita and the NXT 4. There was. WWE just didn't capitalize.
