Or do you have mercy on it somehow?

If I can avoid it, yeah, of course I'd rather just have them out, but I have destroyed them before. Took no pleasure in it, but I had pet dogs and didn't want them possibly getting sick or anything if they got to them first.

Mine alerted me to one recently, they had never seen a real one before.
I picked it up by its tail and tossed it outside

Let the cat deal with it.
But one time the stupid moggy caught a mouse outside, brought it inside, and let it go while it was still alive. The mouse later escaped outside through an open door.

I had a mouse a few months ago and I did nothing about because I knew eventually it was going to cross paths with my cat who is great when it comes to catching stuff. Sure enough I came in from work and it was laying on the living room floor dead with teeth marks in its neck.
I used to live in a house that was a dump (the city finally condemned it) and it was loaded with rats. The cat I had then was lethal when it came to catching rodents and she was always getting one. What was funny everytime we would let her in the house she would always go around the house and look in every single area where she had caught a rat. If she caught one in a new place next time she walked her patrol she would add that place to it.

I know cockroaches are not technically rodents, but I hate squishing them and making a mess, I just flush them down the toilet

Haven't had rodents in a long time, but if we're talking nice, etc. I prefer to just take them outside and let them loose.

I'll kill bugs, but rodents have bones and organs and souls and stuff, so I don't kill them.

We dont get mice as we have cats. One night I got up and there was our cat tossing a dead mouse around. She was very cruel.

Funny, just happened to notice today that we had rat shit in a couple of our kitchen drawers that sit atop of eachother(it wasn't there a couple of days ago). I'm grossed the f*** out, because rodents are the only things that freak me out. I could walk through spiderwebs all day, touch snakes, but f*** rats and mice. I didn't see anything earlier(luckily), but if I see one tomorrow, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to dispose of it, I just don't know how yet. Hopefully our 2 cats handle shit.

I spent 4 hours once trying to catch a mouse just so I could let it go outside.
I won several PETA awards

Funny story about rats from the place I mentioned earlier that was loaded with rats. One evening I go to take a bath and there is a rat stuck in the bathtub. Since I had a bunch of cats I go outside and yell for them several came to the door so I took it in and put it in the tub. The cat does nothing so I take it out and get another one. Same story as before cat does nothing so I take it back outside and see the one I mentioned earlier who was lethal when it came to rats walking up so there was no question as to which cat I was taking in that time. Unlike the other two cats she took care of my rat problem.
Another funny story is that I found one of those wire rat traps once and decided to set it up somewhere. Next day there was a rat in it. I decided that rather than killing it I would take it outside and release it among the cats. Way I saw it that mouse had a chance at survival. All it needed to do was beat up/escape 7 cats and it was free. It actually did take off running and got farther than expected but it still wound up lunch.
I mentioned that house was a dump and eventually the city condemned it. There was one night it got cold and we had our big bulldog in. During the night we hear an awful commotion from the room he was sleeping in. The next morning my dad discovers that a possum had gotten in there and my bulldog had killed it. There is a lot of other stories about that place including one rat story I won't post where I actually felt sorry for the rat.

I used to kill bugs before my dad told me about a dream he had where he killed a big cockroach in our kitchen, and suddenly a smaller, baby roach came scurrying out, so he assumed he killed it's mother or father. I haven't been able to kill a bug since then
