I hope I wasn't the only one who marked out at the Hawkins promo. I've always been a fan and while I'm not confident he'll get much chance to shine, I'm glad he's back.

This is the most effort that has been put into the guy at any point of his wrestling career ever.

I wish they'd bring someone in to play his sister Sadie.

This is the most effort that has been put into the guy at any point of his wrestling career ever. Even more than the stripper gimmick?

Vince finally discovered Chuck Norris facts. He hasn't heard about those yet. Just the original Vin Diesel facts are what he discovered.

Did they use that music in his return promo? That was a good theme... IIRC I thought I read that Ryder and Hawkins (who were friends IRL) had some sort of falling out not long after Hawkins left the WWE.......I guess that was resolved. Also now curious if/when Hawkins and Ryder encounter each other on SD...

I've seen them interact on Twitter now and again over the last few years, so I don't really think there was a problem, but if there was, things seem to be ok now.

I would be more excited if Hawkins had.....anything? Ya know?
I watched him in WWE, I watched him on the indy scene. I watched him in TNA and he always seems like the most mediocre dude in ring. Like Sandow but without the charisma.

I'd gotten the impression along the way that Zack's ex-gf has gotten together with Hawkins, and Zack would refer to him in passing with an air of dismissiveness. But maybe I mistook Hawkins for someone else.

It made me think of Matt Hardy Version 1.0 more than Chuck Norris.

They seemed as friendly as ever on Twitter, with Zack helping to promote Curt's wrestling school and other such things.

Like Sandow but without the charisma. If everyone is awesome then no one is. I'd honestly rather have a Hawkins who is just around to fill out the numbers than unrealistically expect WWE to hire as many big major indy/New Japan/"TNA guys we feel 'In the Arms of an Angel' pity for because they're in TNA" names as possible, give them all a upper-midcard or higher push, and then get disappointed because there isn't enough room to push them all.

If everyone in a company is awesome at their job, does that make the company mediocre or great? After a certain point, it's about the greater good for the greatest number. If everyone is good at their jobs in the WWE, then more people will buy tickets or subscribe to the Network and there will be more money going around. If one thing from the Attitude Era has aged well, it's the idea that guys can be awesome and fun to watch but not move above the midcard because that's their lot in life.

If one thing from the Attitude Era has aged well, it's the idea that guys can be awesome and fun to watch but not move above the midcard because that's their lot in life. WWE forgot this at some point and that the reason why guys like Hawkins and Jinder (among others) fell by the wayside. A lot of guys were screwed over over the years because WWE were so focused on making "future world champions" (or at least guys they could build up enough to feed to their faves) that they forgot about the "guys who won't move above the midcard because that's their lot in life". Because WWE couldn't appreciate those guys, better talents like Cody Rhodes, Wade Barrett and Ryback became the bottom of the card guys by default until they got sick of it and asked for their releases. What I mean is that WWE is at such a critical mass in talent not everyone is going to get the high level push that people thought they would get when they arrived or be placed on the spot of the card that their talent level merits (ex. Neville) and even people who ARE great at their jobs are perceived as "sucking" (ex. Finn Balor). They have so many talented people that just being talented isn't special anymore.
