I'm going off-topic a bit here but the whole "Lesnar/Cena can get away with anything" thing has always puzzled me. Has Cena ever done anything to "get away" with? They can't be that good at covering things up, surely? Cena and Punk's piledriver stunt, accordingly to Meltzer, had Vince furious backstage. Nothing happened to them mind you. Because John claimed responsibility. But everyone can damn well guess that was Punks idea. |

only thing I could think of is stuff like them allowing him and Punk to do a piledriver spot. Blah beaten to it.
I don't fully buy that though because they've had Cena take rare piledrivers before, like against Michaels at mania. Wasn't that technically before the pile-driver was outright banned? Like, I remember Mr. Kennedy of all people being allowed to piledrive Undertaker around the same time. the piledriver was banned well before that. It was one of the first moves on the official list back in 2000. |

I doubt anything will really come of this. Besides he isn't the first person to criticize the scripted promos and probably won't be the last. As far as his Lesnar comments, he actually praised everyone that tried to put the match together and just threw Lesnar under the bus. If there is anything to be upset about it is how poorly this interview came off.

Man,you don't even understand how bummed out I'm gonna be if Ambrose has to drop the title to Dolph f***ing Ziggler over some stupid backstage nonsense. Dean gets his moment because Roman fell out of favor, Ziggler gets his moment because Dean falls out of favor, El Dandy gets his moment etc it's the circle of wrasslin' That said, I do hope Dean doesn't get de-pushed, and he deserves a good title reign. But I'd also mark out if Ziggler won to be honest Who are you to doubt El Dandy? |

Seriously, why does everyone take Meltzer at face value? He gets worked routinely by his "sources". The thought that Ziggler might go over for the title because of some "backstage heat" on a guy who makes Bob Backlund look like Ric Flair is going to get Meltzer's target audience all sorts of riled up and willing to watch the show (or, you know, even try out WWE Network for a month). This is another case of people getting up in arms over something Meltzer hasn't actually said, rather over conclusions they have drawn themselves from something Meltzer said. If you look at what he reported it is just 'some people are unhappy about what Ambrose said on the podcast', which seems fairly expected and likely, if people leap from that to 'This means that Dolph is going to beat Dean for the belt!' then that is their problem and not Meltzer's. I understand speculating about what the consequences of the heat might be but let's not put words in the man's mouth and then try and use those to discredit him. It isn't what Meltzer specifically said, it's the conclusion all of the "sheets" and the marks who believe every bit of what they report will reach. Meltzer has been discredited enough - nobody really needs to do that anymore. |
