I thought Zeus was awesome. While he may have been a terrible wrestler, his wrecking machine superhuman heel persona was superb. Same, my first VHS as a kid was Survivor Series 1989, hadn't seen anything before that, and I totally bought him as an unstoppable monster who'd straight up murder you. Agreed. He even scared me, and I was 15 at the time. Hulk sold that neck wrench really well, like it just snapped. Zeus even had the weakness you'd usually only find in Punch-Out. Goony eye. That was funny.

I agree, he wasn't much in the ring but they made him look near-invincible, to no-sell a chair shot from Hogan back then was unheard of and Hogan backed up in fear, which was another rarity.

While we've touched upon the topic, for as much crap as been heaped upon Hogan for no-selling strictly because of the Hulk-Up...go to YouTube and watch him selling offense for guys like Dino Bravo and Hercules, compare it to the current main-eventers shrugging off being power-bombed through tables for a two count and then we'll discuss "no-selling".

Heenan didn't ruin BATB 96
I like heel Bryan more than face Bryan
The CWC was great but haven't cared at all since it ended.
Vaudevillains are a fun/unique team
Savage/Steamboat was really good but not "The greatest match ever"
Alexa is hotter than Trish
Vince was a really good announcer

Big Guns are the best tag team in Japan and serious contenders for best team in the world. Bodyguard has gotten so much better over the years and Zeus has been awesome for a while now. Holy shit, I thought I was the only Big Guns fan around. Yeah, Zeus is amazing, and Bodyguard's really come along.

Cesaro is so damn good as a wrestler but he has a boring personality. The best thing you can do for him over the next few years is a stick him in a tag team with a guy like Sheamus who can pull off that larger than life character.
When Cesaro actually finds a character and develops a little mic skills he will connect on a bigger level for me.

Eddie Guerro was incredibly talented and entertaining, but his status as one of the best of all time is an exaggeration. He was great, but if he weren't dead, he wouldn't be talked about as much today.

Even though I'm getting bored with the overreliance of general manager characters in wrestling, I really like Dario Cueto. They just go totally crazy with his character to a shameless Matt Hardy level degree, and it's just fun.

I really do think he's an incredibly important part of wrestling history, in terms of being the first guy to really cross over from the world of lucha to the mainstream American scene in the modern, national tv era. Well, him and Konnan, who also doesn't get enough credit for it.

Vaudevillains are a fun/unique team I agree. I think they missed the mark building these guys up. They should have done some strongman stuff to push Gotch, some other thing for Aiden (working out while singing). Maybe pull the old carny open challenge against scrub wrestlers for a few weeks. I still like these guys.

I still like these guys. I'm on the opposite side of the spectrum. "WOAH WOAH WAIT! THIS IS THE SACRILEGE THREAD! NOT THE CONSENSUS THREAD!" Let me finish, yelling man. I've been on the opposite side of the spectrum from the moment they debuted in NXT. I despised them from the moment they formed and called their flop immediately. That said, there's something in Aiden English. Can't stand Gotch in any way. His strong man schtick, look, and his arm wrench/squats combo is so cringy to me.

CM Punk was a genius in knowing how to tell good stories in his matches.
I like the match he had with Cena in 2013 a little more because the pace was quicker, but the 2011 match in Chicago was most definitely a ***** match. I've seen some fans say it's a bit sloppy in spots, but I didn't see anything too bad- it looked more like they were countering each other and also selling the physical toll the match was taking on them. Their psychology was similar to the matches Misawa had with Jumbo in 1990 and "that" match with Kawada in 1994.
Speaking of which, I have an easier time thinking of specific matches as mental markers in time more so than I do particular "eras" or storylines. I love a good interview segment and there's been plenty of skits I've liked, but the majority of my pro wrestling enjoyment has always come from the in-ring action and how the wrestlers play their characters during matches.
For example, when I think back on the Daniel Bryan vs. the Authority storyline, there's stuff about it I would have done differently. But I mostly associate it with that Triple H vs. Bryan match at WM30 because it was awesome, more so than my overall feelings on the quality of the angle.

Also, Bret Hart was way more charismatic than fans give him credit for. If he was a legit fighter in his time, he would be getting Conor McGregor comparisons in terms of being a flamboyant personality.
He wasn't a super-loud character like Flair or Savage, but as a kid I thought he was a cool badass. He looked like a superstar, and he could project a great air of confidence, moreso than other guys with "down to earth" characters (looking at you, Eddie Edwards).

I've always thought that Arn Anderson was better on the mic than Ric Flair.

Although I am a big fan of both guys, I really don't care for Steamboat vs Savage. It's mostly seemed like a bunch of two counts, but even if they felt like near falls, I just don't think I would be that into it.

Savage/Steamboat was really good but not "The greatest match ever" I'd agree, but also feel like it's one of those cases where context is king. Yes, the average RAW main-event today has a far greater level of athleticism within it, but given the time in which it took place, it was genuine simulated combat in the age of the comic book 'rasslin hero.
