That's right, it's Monday and that means ONLY one thing... Time for a new episode of Monday Night RAW, live from Kansas City. Last week saw the crowning of a new WWE Universal Champion, coming about in incredibly surprising circumstances, and this week we'll have the fallout for the champion and his possible next challenger.
That man was Kevin Owens, who took advantage of the assistance provided by a returning Triple H to claim his first top title in WWE. Fallen by the wayside as the result of the Pedigree were Triple H's victorious WrestleMania opponent Roman Reigns, and more shockingly, Authority golden child Seth Rollins. Many questions will be asked tonight... Is there an Owens/Triple H alliance in play now? Was Stephanie McMahon or Mick Foley in on The Game's plan? Where does this leave Owens's current partnership with Chris Jericho? And what will the reaction be from the fallen Reigns and Rollins? All we know right now is that the Prizefighter will find himself with a nice new target on his back to go with the Big Red Belt around his waist.
Two men that could be getting a shot at Owens later down the road are Sheamus and Cesaro, who are currently embroiled in a Best Of Seven series of matches for the mysterious and vague "championship opportunity". The Celtic Warrior extended his lead to 2-0 last week, taking advantage of The Swiss Superman's wounded back and submitting him to the Cloverleaf. No match has been scheduled as of this thread going live, but that could always change. If so, will Cesaro be 100% for a must-win bout?
WWE Women's Champion Charlotte is finding herself confronted with a new challenger from her past in recent RAW signing Bayley. The affectionate athlete has hit the ground running on the main roster, with a pinfall victory over Dana Brooke two weeks ago, and getting the winning pin over Brooke in a mixed tag match last week. Charlotte has both victories and defeats in matches with Bayley, but the main roster is a whole new playing field compared to NXT, and a new bout between the pair is looming. Will Bayley get any closer to it tonight?
A champion without a challenger at this moment is WWE United States Champion Rusev. It's been a rough couple of weeks for The Bulgarian Brute after some harsh treatment at the hands of Roman Reigns, but that could all be in the rear view mirror now... Or is it? Reigns could be coming back for more depending on how the Universal Championship situation plays out. Or does a new contender step up and stake a claim for the star-spangled strap? All those Strowman squashes have gotta lead to something, right?
And in the tag team division, The New Day and The Club still have beef over the W... W... E... World... Tag... Team... Championships. Doesn't seem like that situation may change any time soon. Gallows and Anderson might make more silly jokes dressed in lab coats, I guess.
All that, and Darren Young and Titus O'Neil continue to sap Bob Backlund's will to live, TONIGHT on The Kevin Owens Show... I mean, Monday Night RAW!
