So we're not allowed to joke about this....why? Joking about another man's bucket list is apparently a line you just don't cross for some folks.

It's funnier to see the amount of people that take this as some sort of personal victory than it was actually seeing him getting killed out there. Not liking the guy is one thing, hell laughing about it is one thing, but to jump to "he deserved this cause he's an asshole" is kinda...much. This falls on Dana White to me. He set the whole thing up to get a bunch of buys off of Punk's name knowing that he'd get destroyed and it would be a one time deal. Props to Punk for taking the chance and all, but it was obviously a way for Dana to put the UFC and Punk's opponent (which ended up being Mickey) over. If your organization is supposed to be the top fighting organization in the world then you shouldn't be putting a guy like Punk in there in the first place. It's irresponsible as f***. Agree with all of this. He should have never been out there but hell, someone pays me a ton of money to live out one of my dreams sure, let's do it. I'm still a massive fan of the guy and maybe I missed something but the amount of hatred he gets is pretty crazy to me. I totally get not liking the guy but some of the stuff I've seen around the internet is way over the top. To each their own I guess.

Am I only thinking Punk was working his punches? Those jabs he threw at Gall on the ground were total weak sauce. Nah, they were weak because he's just not been training that long and he was getting pummeled. Dude did his best, it's just even more blatant now that just 'wanting to' does not make up for skill/training.

Booker T, MVP, Stevie Ray and Bruce Prichard commenting on the fight. Booker T with the realness. Man, why can't we get this Booker T on commentary or on the WWE pre shows? He sounded way more natural and cool.

Frankly, if I'm WWE I wouldn't even bring this up or make fun of Punk. What good does it do? Yeah, ha ha. One of your most decorated champions of the past decade stepped foot into a real fight and got destroyed in 2 minutes. I fail to see how that makes WWE look good or gives them anything to crow about. It just makes them look like a fed of phony wrestlers that have zero shot in an actual fight. Absolutely. This whole thing has really made a joke of the WWE, I'd be stunned if they brought it up

Here's Punks after fighting speech... R/squaredcircle saying he went full John Cena...
In life you go big or you go home, I just like to take challenges. This was a hell of a mountain to try to climb and I didn't get to the summit today, but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up. I will be back, believe it or not, this was the most fun I've ever had. It was the second best day of my life after marrying my wife. I know there's a lot of doubters, but life's about falling down and getting up. It doesn't matter how many times you get knocked down, it's about getting back up. So if there's any kid out there who's told by a parent, a teacher or a coach or somebody that they're supposed to look up to, somebody that's supposed to push them and believe in them and they're told "no" don't listen to them. Believe in yourself. Sometimes the outcome isn't always what you desire it to be, but the true failure in life is not trying at all. I know that sounds preachy and kind of weird for a guy that just got beat up, but f*** it. This is the time of my life, thank you Cleveland

I seen a lot of people hate me and I didn't know what to feel about that so I guess they didn't like much nothin' either. During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, the way yous feel about me, and in the way I felt about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than 20 million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!

Ah Stevie Ray. Your Harlem Heat Promos are still gold(i'm stealing the squeeze.) And Booker with the hard truth as always. I liked Stevie Ray's "he put the squeeze on him" while trying to keep back the laughter, MVP was supportive of his friend and Booker keeping it real about Punk's future. WWE network should have some sort of show about Booker, Stevie, and MVP commenting on something or other. And man, MVP is starting to show the ravages of time.

Here and online, people fall into 3 camps. Those who are taking gleeful, almost orgasmic pleasure from him losing. Those who are defending him like their name is Voltron. And those don't give a damn about Punk either way but commented on the fight. I fall in the latter group. Fan of CM Punk the wrestler. Not blind to see he was seriously out of his element. Been saying since he announced doing a UFC fight that he was not ready to be about that life because his body is f***ed and lack of athletic background. Yeah, it is a bucket list goal but don't mean it was going to be a success due him being CM Punk. Not going to gloat because dude got played on a worldwide stage. Dana knew he wasn't ready. Duke knew he wasn't ready. Punk knew he wasn't ready. But the freakshow had to go on. Dana White will continue making fun of pro wrestling while stealing things from it like the carny he is. Punk will keep it moving and be the same snarky asshole we know and kinda like or hate. And UFC will find another person foolish enough to exploit for money. WWE won't mention this because if Punk ever get that wrestling bug again, they will be the first ones calling with a Brock type of contract on the table.
Speaking of Brock, folks don't talk much about how he got his ass murked by Cain Velasquez & Alistar Overeem yet came back to WWE as a monsterous conqueror. Same for Shibata's cruddy MMA record being forgotten because how bad ass he carries himself. People will remember what they want when it fits the narrative being told. Punk could return for next year's Mania or Tokyo Dome show and people will still get hyped for it. Though the ones who hate him got new material to drag his ass with.
Also people are this close of calling Punk "stunning and brave".

I watched the fight with great interest. I wanted to Punk to do well and win, but I was thoroughly entertained by him getting his ass kicked. That was bad, and it's hard not to laugh. It was an embarrassing performance. So you wanna be a cage fighter huh? Two years of training and he had zero offense, took a couple brutal shots to the head and tapped out in about 90 seconds. I don't put it past the WWE at all to make fun of it.

I didn't watch the fight, but I'll admit to chuckling a bit upon hearing a guy who seems like a fairly unpleasant person got throughly waxed in a spot he didn't deserve to be in. Didn't want him seriously injured or anything, (not sure I've seen anyone wish for that, so I'm not sure where that complaint comes from) but it was a little satisfying to hear he got what everyone knew was coming to him. Having said that, how he proceeds for here will be interesting to watch. If he's still gang ho to continue this journey, even if that means going to a level that's more suited to his skill, I'm going to give him some credit. If his enthusiasm dries up upon learning he won't be getting handed another glitzy spot and hefty payday, I think he comes across like a fraud.
