You can blame the American education system for this one. Thanks to 70% scores in education being equated with a C, or "average" grade, the mentality carries over to review scores. So a 7 is seen as an average score, and this is a mentality that is never gonna change until they overhaul the grading system in education, where the seeds of the mentality are planted. It's worth noting that the company I work for send out emails asking for customers to rate their experience dealing with us, and grades 1-7 are considered negative, 8 is neutral, and only 9-10 are positive, which to me is just insane. Also BS, since Net Promoter Score-style stuff (where that is supposed to be based off) says that 7 and 8 are neutral, not just 8.

Definitely how it should be, and one of the reasons I simply ignore it whenever it comes up in staff meetings.

I realize this will reinforce the "Sony Shill" thing (which is ironic if you've known me long enough to remember when I was the "anti-Sony bias Nintendo shill"), but Horizon: Zero Dawn's success is worth talking about.
The game's doing well, and while those who loyally defend plastic machinery might think otherwise, that's a good thing for everybody. Yes, even if you're putting all your stock in the Switch.

Ignore the title of this video, but as an April Fools thing, comic reviewer Lewis "Linkara" Lovhaug do a loving tribute to The Jimquisition.

Your ol' pal Jim Sterling was at Valve HQ to talk about Steam's future, including Steam Direct, Curators, and what to do about certain f***nuts.
Presented for your enjoyment is my assessment of the meeting and my thoughts toward the future of Steam and potential LACK of future certain f***nuts have.

Persona 5 should be reveling in its critical acclaim right now, but it's mired in a bit of bad press thanks to its publisher's attempt to control post-launch video content.
An honest case of trying to protect an audience from spoilers, a ludicrous overreach from an out-of-touch company? Both?
Both, obviously.
Oh, Atlus. You really shouldn't have...

Dude gave Yooka-Laylee a 2/10. I hope he's just being a contraian douchebag because that's my second most anticipated game this year after Persona 5.

www.youtube.com/watch?v=6QbJb2taPtkOh Gearbox, will you ever learn? So the great minds running the Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition scene decided to compound its ludicrous MSRP by partnering with G2A. Yes that G2A, the notoriously scummy one that profits from fraud. How did that turn out, and what does it say of this industry that it happened in the first place? Let's find out together, you POG freaks!

As from every review I have heard says for good or ill that's exactly what it is.

I'll probably pick it up sometime, I kinda dig N64 era platformers.

Well yeah, but if a critic doesn't have any interest in that style of game I can see why they'd give it a low score

Yeah, it's on my must-buy list at some point for sure along with Persona 5. I dig that sort of game anyway and when I last played it, I dug it for, well, being that.
I'm not going to rag on a guy and flame him to death for having a differing opinion on it, even if I think 2/10 for a game that doesn't seem to be highly glitchy (from what I hear) cries a bit of attention seeking to me, unintentional or otherwise.

From watching some streams, the real issue with that game is that it appears to be poorly designed. Check out that first boss fight, it looks like a freaking slog to play.

Every game blog wants to make a name for itself, but that desire can sometimes be fulfilled in a most undesirable way. I mean, look what happened to Brash Games! It doesn't pay its writers, it revokes author credits when people leave, and its owner has over a decade of duplicitous, shady shit to answer for. A number of us pooled our resources and drew on many anonymous sources to blow this publication wide open and oh dear is there some grimy shit pooling in its guts. Bonus Content: f*** Konami News (Special Thanks: Kirioth, whose communication and help has been invaluable. Check out his own video on Brash: youtu.be/SU0YuEoNG7UNathan Hanover for writing this lovely tune: www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wbdo2... Open Critic, showcasing integrity and a sense of standards: c.opencritic.com/releases/Bras... The many, MANY former associated and employees of Paul Ryan (not that one) who provided me more dirt than I could handle!)

How exactly do less scrupulous blogs get deals with casino websites to lace their articles with unsubtle advertisements?
Who is pulling the strings, what sort of money changes hands, and what exactly are Casinos looking for when they ask for "SEO Juice?"
The Jimquisition went deep to blow this mother.
