I wonder if DC decided to cancel it simply because there are a lot of Wonder Woman books out on the market right now, many of which involve a re-telling of her origin story?
This year has had:
- Renae De Liz's version of the character, The Legend of Wonder Woman - Wonder Woman Rebirth with Greg Rucka - Volume 1 TPB of Greg Rucka's previous Wonder Woman run (which also collects the out-of-print The Hiketeia story) - Wonder Woman: Earth One by Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette - Wonder Woman: The True Amazon by Jill Thompson - New 52 Wonder Woman by Meredith and David Finch finished up this year - the Wonder Woman Golden Age Omnibus - the Wonder Woman: A Celebration of 75 Years book - the Wonder Woman 75th Anniversary boxed set - and in 2 months' time DC is re-releasing Brian Azzarello and Cliff Chang's New 52 Wonder Woman as an absolute edition - and come mid-2017 volume 2 of George Perez's Wonder Woman will be released - and volume 1 of Perez's omnibus is still in print - and DC also put out the first of several TPBs of Perez's run a couple of months ago too.

And meanwhile, Batman has like 10x this being published monthly and DC doesn't cancel any of it because "there's a bit much." She has a movie coming out - finally - so oversaturation is almost required... Not a great move by DC at all, I'm afraid..... At least make sure she gets more work on another DC project, DC.

Black Cat turns up in Venom#2 www.cbr.com/venom-2-3/While Rhino will be Riri's first big test in Invincible Iron Man comicbook.com/2016/12/14/exclusive-marvel-preview-invincible-iron-man-3-pits-riri-againstI'm actually wondering if, in the possibility N52 Superman comes back permanently, if he will be a co-star in Superwoman, seeing as her March issue hints she has a big connection to him. I probably would be down with Lana and N52 Supes getting together, since I just don't see her lasting much longer with John Henry, and it's clear Diana has moved well past her N52 Phase and is back with Steve. That'd be good for everyone ('cept S/WW fans), super-powered Lana with one Clark, non-powered Lois with another and Jon to boot. A modern spin on the classic ending of Superman Red/Superman Blue. When Superwoman is eventually cancelled, they can launch a new N52 led Superman title if necessary with him and Lana's adventures.

I have a feeling most will end up dead, and some may stick around some how. Not terrible surprising as he was working for her in the first issue. He was muscle for Black Cat's people while they were doing a deal with Tombstone's people.

Marvel has released hour long Fireplace videos on their youtube channelfor Iron Man, Captain America, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor and Ms. Marvel... I am assuming this is meant to be a yule log thing. Though that is a somewhat random assortment of characters for that

True, Batman does have a lot of saturation when it comes to his publications and media presence, which can get really annoying (Lego Movie why exactly?). I'm all for more Wonder Woman stories, and I find all lot of the reasons for removing Wonder Woman's UN Ambassador status to be flimsy, which is probably another reason that a lot of people are upset by this news given that people are really hot for Wonder Woman right now, especially after Batman v Superman. But I still think putting out at least 4 origin stories about the character in a single year, and certainly more when you count about the recollections of her comics from different points in her history, was an odd move by DC. Diversity of product is not the same thing as diversity of content. Wonder Woman is more than just her origin story, but the books with the biggest or best buzz don't necessarily reflect that. Which is why I'm speculating that DC reasoned, however right or wrong, and realistically more the latter than the former, I suspect, that more of Renae De Liz's Wonder Woman isn't what DC wants to do right now. But people seem to be focused more on not being able to get more Wonder Woman stories than why someone who is doing comics work isn't making enough money from DC to support her family, at least into the new year, which is also really a bit of a head-scratcher.

That is the least surprising news about Ray I've ever heard. Renae would be among the top new-age female writers/artists in comics, if he hadn't started controlling her career.

My computer does not like that page. Anyone want to give a rundown? The Mary Sue Article That Killed Wonder Woman![](http://cdn.bleedingcool.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/ww-350x332.jpg) We’ve already published two articles about DC Comics’ decision to cancel the Renae De Liz written-and-pencilled and Ray Dillon inked-and-coloured comic series The Legend Of Wonder Woman, half-way through the production of its second volume, without publishing an issue. So, yes, here’s a third. And I can confirm that the decision to cancel the book was due to politics and not to sales. A few days ago, DC Comics arranged promotions for The Odyssey of the Amazons, a new comic by Underworld creator Kevin Grevioux and Ryan Benjamin, telling the origin stories of the Amazons, a story he pitched to DC, who would later give birth to Wonder Woman. In a series of tweets from Renae De Liz and Ray Dillon, they complained that such a series was being written by a man, when Renae had pitched a similar series. The Mary Sue ran an article that now-deleted quoted tweets from De Liz, though I understand Dillon’s were harsher. And I understand that people at DC Comics believe that the Mary Sue article itself was arranged by Dillon. Since publication, the article has been edited to remove the deleted tweets, though Google Cache still preserves them for a while. This is what was edited. Writer Teresa Jusino wrote, Someone else who’s wanted this for a while is comics creator Renae de Liz, who recently did an amazing limited series called The Legend of Wonder Woman (and is currently at work on a Volume 2!), which retold Diana’s origin through a really humanizing story and gorgeous artwork. She tweeted:And then embedded the now-deleted tweets. I’ve been pitching this idea for years. –> Kevin Grevioux will write the untold story of #WonderWoman’s Amazons t.co/V18dIufYE3
— Renae De Liz (@renaedeliz) December 13, 2016 Happy Amazons get a series of course, they deserve it. But I felt I could have added a lot as a female creator.
— Renae De Liz (@renaedeliz) December 13, 2016Teresa also added, Now, it’s not like she pitched them the idea of an Amazons spin-off. In 75 years of Wonder Woman, it’s likely that many people have pitched variations on that. I don’t know what her take was, and I do know that Grevioux’s take sounds cool. It’s likely that DC, for whatever reason, liked Grevioux’s take better. This was all removed and the rest of the article remains as published. I understand from well-connected senior sources that this article, combined with some harsher tweets aimed at DC by Ray Dillon, is being held responsible inside DC Comics for their decision to cancel the Legend Of Wonder Woman. As we pointed out, this is not the first time this kind of thing has happened at the publisher with other creators. Indeed, two of them were directly my fault as well. I have been in the exact same position that Mary Sue now finds itself. Public criticism by a staff member or freelancer, especially if it reaches the press, is the ultimate no-no. This is the one tweet of Dillon’s we have been able to recover. ![](http://cdn.bleedingcool.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/post.png) But there were some similar older ones, regarding another Wonder Woman comic, the Morrison/Paquette graphic novel Wonder Woman: Earth One from DC that might be seen as following a pattern. I have also been repeatedly informed that DC editorial and PR’s problems are far more to do with Dillon than with De Liz. But it was the Mary Sue article that really did for the book.
