www.gamesradar.com/missing-marvel-titles-2020/A recap of 10 Marvel projects/series that were scuttled during 2020 due to the pandemic. Honestly forgot all about Nebula, and even Gwen Stacy. New Warriors was probably killed for cancel culture related reasons, and the rest......who knows...

DC's been kill crazy since.............Infinite Crisis, probably? New 52 was just them bringing all sorts of B-C-D-Z lister people back (from death and also non-use) and then killing most of them again quite flippantly. Witchfire still exists, at least; WW has encountered her in a sort of afterlife place during and after that Witching Hour story in JLDark. I would wager someone could (hopefully?) bring her back fairly easily from there? I think the big issue was that DC looked at Infinite Crisis and 52 and thought "gee I guess graphic violence sells" And running with that instead of thinking "hey if top flight creators write a good story, it sells". It doesn't help that Geoff Johns himself basically started including gore in everything he wrote for a while after Infinite Crisis as some kind of crutch. Identity Crisis was the start of all this imo. Sue Dibney's death was so gruesome and shocking and it seems like they needed to continue to up that in subsequent years.

So rumor is DC is partnering with Random House for a bunch of OGNs.
And DC has been death obsessed since the 80s. Look at the death of Jason Todd. Or when they killed Superman then broke Batman's back.
Ever since DKR DC took the wrong message from it and has run with it a lot.

Finished Death Metal #6 and it felt like a set up issue from the previous set up issue which, I mean, the set up is pretty good and a lot still happened leading to the finale (and the other two tie ins before that) but just calling a spade a spade. Does set up for a heck of a finale since... {Spoiler} Pepetua is dead, The Darkest Knight realigned Earth and set out one last Monstars style team to finally kill the other heroes consisting of The Robin King, the original Metal Line up of Batmen and a Superman that’s on fire and others and Wonder Woman basically tapped into something that made her into Golden Wonder Woman so that sounds like a Smackdown of all Smackdowns to me.
It does also tie in with the Rise of the New God with Pepetua teasing that there’s a wider Omniverse power that could still wreck things but that can be left for another day... Also not really a spoiler as much as something funny, Jarro swears to lead the troops into battle and Batman does a Steve Rogers to call him out on his language which, considering other events involving Batman...really funny coincidence, there, other Snyder.

Read Bendis' farewell to Superman, but according to tweets he made today, he's not done with the character or the super family just yet...and it shows in this comic, largely nothing touched on in this run gets properly resolved other than the present story {Spoiler}{Spoiler}We finally get to read an excerpt from Lois' tell all book about her relationship with her husband. It's very sweet, but doesn't really give us a glimpse into why she wants to keep the book secret from Clark. Bendis introduces a United Planet Federal Patrol to monitor planets both in and out of the United Federation (corps a joke to him or something?), and the run ends with Lois and Clark listening to a musician play something from Mary Poppins on the roof while they have a romantic waltz in the air.

Also will have a Punchline backup that continues the story from her one-shot in November.

This week's Nightwing was a nice'n'tidy festive offering. Dick spends Christmas with the Bat-Fam and gets to make a dedication to Alfred.

The moment I realized DC was getting too carried away with killing off characters was during the Cry for Justice miniseries when they brought back Jay Garrick's Three Stooges knockoff sidekicks who hadn't been seen since the Golden Age and killed them off-panel just to give Jay an excuse to show up in the miniseries. That has so-bad-it's-good written all over it.

Rob has mentioned before he loves the Mighty Crusaders. So this should be a fun series. But I'm guessing this means the Archie Dark Circle line is officially dead.

/insert “Liefeld drawing Man-Boobs Captain America, but it’s The Shield instead” joke here/ Forget about man-boobs, I want to know what's wrong with The Shield's abs. I don't know why, but they just don't look right in those drawings.

It terrifies me that people are still into Liefeld - both fans, and publishers who allow him to.........draw people as he does.
I dunno, I've seen worse art (I guess) but not crazy about it. And as a '90s comics kid, so much drama and craziness surrounding him & that EXXXXXXXXtreme Image world of his that it's tough to just get into any work since without thinking of the past.
I gave him a chance with that Snake Eyes miniseries, but I dropped it after #2 (really wanted it to work which is why I even bothered with the 2nd issue); me dropping a GI Joe book midway means real trouble.
