Contuing the Spidey read... Zodiac have gone (hooray) only to have Regent pop up as villain. He f***ing sucks too.
This is a terrible, terrible, terrible run. I am tempted to skip the rest of the 2015 run, but I am half way through so I figure I might as well stick it out.
I know the current run is also pretty bad (I read some of the current ASM run last year). But I am hoping that between the end of the 2015 and the start of the current run there are some good spidey stories to enjoy.

It's pretty much the 'end' of the BND saga for reasons I won't spoil, it is so good and resolves so much it actually qualifies as a series finale, at least for me.

Glad there is something good to read up on.

I'll say this for the 2015 ASM series. Prowler is a very good addition to team spider. Great character.

If I may, I would suggest, once you catch up to ASM, that you seek out and read the first six issue arc of Jonathan Hickman's Ultimate Spider-Man run straight after. Tracking down a copy of Amazing Fantasy#1000 just for Slott's story wouldn't be a bad idea either.

finished the 2015 Spider-Man.
I wasn't much of a fan of the early part where he was Iron-Man lite. But it got better towards the end, and I thought the final arc was great.
Onto 2018--which I did actually read most of. The Kindred arc, basically. I remember that one starting off good for the first 30 issues or so but then getting bogged down with too many crossovers and tie-ins which dragged Kindred out for way too long.

Then Spencer quit Marvel for Substack, forcing all his work to be compacted and rushed, and editorial intervened changing more than a few things, making the climax hard to decipher. Oh but what a ride. The most I enjoyed the book in a decade, fixed so much, and gave me enough reasonable closure to put that book behind me as a regular customer. Especially in the wake of how awful 2022-2024 was from Zeb Wells. Spencer's run now feels like a glitch in the post-OMD matrix.

It is how I like Spidey to be--street level. Not Iron-Man lite and globetrotting across the world. Plus making Boomerang his roommate was a great move.

I forgot all about Peter Parker entering "Spider-Man Trivia Night" at The Bar with No Name with Boomerang lmao
What a great issue that was.

I'll be fair to Spencer, most of the dumbass things that happened to Cap during his run were editorially mandated.

Reached issue 30 of Amazing Spider-Man 2018 of my reread, and this is about where I remember the series starts to nose dive becoming bogged down with tie-ins which derail and slow down the main (and interesting) plot points of the series -- Kindred, Boomerang's storyline with the Syndicate and Kingpin and his face turn, Aunt May reopening FEAST, Peter fixing his relationship with MJ etc.
Great series until now. I was a big fan of the Syndicate. An all-female villain group who run the team like a trendy corporate feminist tech startup with a meditation garden to discuss their plans and open-plan workspaces is great. Plus their interactions with Boomerang were a lot of fun (especially the flashback to Boomerang hitting on three of them in a bar with the exact same pick up line which is why they hate him lol). Boomerang is such a good addition to Parker/Spidey's friends. If I had to criticise, I think I would have liked to see more of him. He's just a fun character. An asshole, but he is a very likeable one. Like that friend you might have who you admit is a bit of a dickhead but he's just fun to be around.

Ultimate Spider-Man#9 dropped this week and it's another belter. MJ helps Jameson and Ben be more at ease with the performance of The Paper, Peter rejects the Iron Spider suit devised by Otto and the sentient Picotech suit offers to be home security, and he and Harry go up against the Black Cat, with Harry crossing a few lines in the process
Tom Taylor wrapped up his run on Titans. Not bad, your average Trigon vs Raven story with the same outcome as all the rest. Raven makes peace with her demon side again and merges with it after some pep talk from Garfield. I've enjoyed the run, if only because it gave me lots of great Raven and Beast Boy moments. Love that pairing.
I hate what they're doing with Green Arrow in Absolute Power. Sucks doubly so that Williamson is having to undo all his own hard work in putting Ollie in a good place because of his stupid gambit to topple Waller from the inside.

I quite like binge reading comics, so I will likely let it get a few arcs in before I do.

Sometimes I just want comics that are fun and forgetable.
So when I found a stack of 70s era Whitman stuff in a tote I made that my next stack to read.
Got the normal stuff from Whitman,Uncle Scrooge/Bugs Bunny/Funky Phantom/Charlie Chan and the Chan Clan, Then got a nice stack of Whitman OG's. Wacky and Cracky,Snoots the elephant OG Genius.
Just fun short stories that don't require me to remember years of history to enjoy.
