Twilight can be proud that her student showed such remarkable progress over the course of Season 6.

Still one of the sexiest Rarity outfits in the regular show ever. And, your birthday OK so far, Retro?

"Equestria Girls 4: Legend Of Everfree"...gets a 9/10 from me. Sci-Twi gets wonderfully characterised in this movie as a sort of anti-thesis to ponyverse Twilight. While ponyverse Twilight loves magic and learning all about it, Sci-Twi's bad experience at the end of the third movie has made her afraid of it and that it might be a bad influence on everyone around, manifesting in her fear of losing control and becoming Midnight Sparkle again. This is brought forward really well throughout the movie (especially through her interactions with Sunset Shimmer), culminating in her overcoming her fear of losing control through the support of her friends and embracing her magic. Add to that some funny scenes involving her and I have got no qualms with Sci-Twi here. A big part in that is what Alyce: Old Media Enthusiast assured me of and which came true. Sunset Shimmer does not take a backseat to Sci-Twi in this movie but gets equal time to shine and emphasizing that she is the sort of de facto leader of the humane 7. Her interactions with Sci-Twi were genuine based on her becoming a demon herself way back in the first Equestria Girls movie, she takes the forward approach in supporting the others in embracing their magic and comes across as having grown leaps and bounds from her first appearance as a character. I am also really happy that they did not do the "Canterlot Wedding" route with Sunset's suspicions about Timber leading to a short falling-out between her and Sci-Twi (perhaps ponyverse Twilight relaid the episode to her and Sunset learned from it not to do the same mistake again). The only downside is that while Sunset's power is cool, it is the only one that could be said to be useless in an actual battle (making her the Aquaman of the group so to speak). The other humane 5 get their time to shine exploring their new powers, having fun interacting with each other (so...much...Rarijack in this!) and just being themselves with the highlights being a look into Pinkie Pie's mind (what would it look like if she ate some Smile Dip, I wonder? and Fluttershy's interaction with the wildlife. Their new powers are awesome as are their magical girl outfits although their portrayal here will probably lead to cryouts of "Sunset-Twi and their five useless background characters" (a thought which I don't share here). The new characters, Gloriosa Daisy and Timber Spruce...Gloriosa is a pretty...mediocre character I thought. While her eye-twitching scenes were fun, she just came across as...I don't know...blah to me. When she turned into Gaia Everfree, she became a bit more fun but as a villain, she is only second-rate compared to the sirens. Timber Spruce, on the other hand, was pretty fun. The writers clearly showed that they learned what they did wrong with Flash Sentry the first time around. Although we got the blush at first sight again here, it was developed better by having them actually interact at different points in the movie which gave them chemistry with each other. Compare that with the first movie where Twiflash interaction was reduced to them bumping into each other two times which apparently should make us believe that they are meant to be *urgh*. Timber Spruce also came across as a genuinely likable character and I give my approval if we see him and Sci-Twi again in the future. As for the other characters: Bulk was the highlight for me, one could almost feel sorry for Flash (perhaps Derpy can hook up with him), the others had bit parts here and there and as for Filthy Rich...I am surprised how little we saw of him in the movie. Based on the comments here, I thought he would feature more prominently (with bulldozers already at the starting line similar to the IDW comic with the deer) instead of only appearing in three scenes (one of them a flashback). The story itself flowed nicely (although the flashback when Sunset touched Gloriosa went on a bit too long IMHO), the songs were good quality as usual (although not as memorable as the previous ones) and it will be interesting to see what the gems and the ending scene will bring to this spin-off next year. The only real downside in this movie was the rather underwhelming villain (though she is better than Principal Cinch at least). So yeah, 9/10 is what Legend Of Everfree gets. The legend of the missing TLML Adventures...will not be solved here.

When she turned into Gaia Everfree, she became a bit more fun but as a villain, she is only second-rate compared to the sirens. See, I think she was a pretty fleshed out character for the most part. The fact that she was trying so hard to keep the camp fun, while dealing with the fact that it could get shut down, and stacking all the responsibilities on herself (hence her catchphrase "I got this!"), and eventually leading to her getting a lust for power and control, all still to keep the camp safe. Like I said before, I think EQG does a great job with the idea of how magic affects regular people, and this is very much the case with Gloriosa.

I see Sunset more as the Charles Xavier of the group than the Aquaman.
Mostly because I hate the negativity shown to Aquaman when in his first appearance in comics, he punched a hole in a submarine.

I dunno. I can see the points you are making, Alyce: Old Media Enthusiast, and understand them. But still, I felt more oomph from the Dazzlings in their appearances than I felt about Gloriosa in this one. And CMWaters, is Aquaman's origin covered in one of Linkara's Secret Origins months by any chance?
