Eager to listen to his story and know more about the separation and reconciliation with WWE.

Didn't really say anything new about his reconciliation and separation with WWE, but still a good episode. The story about his childhood home being occupied by the Nazis and living in a mountain for 14 months was insane. Also, was it just me or did him winning the title from Buddy Rogers sound like a screwjob?

I was looking forward to this episode, and it didn't disappoint. I only wish it was longer. I could listen to Bruno tell stories about that era of wrestling for hours, I find it so fascinating.

I love listening to Bruno. He talks about that era and it sounds so...I don't even know. He just speaks in a really fascinating way, comes across as so sincere, and his life has been incredible. I wish we had champions like him. I know, I know, workrate blah, but Bruno is pure class and so respectable and comes across so legitimate in a way that I don't think is even possible anymore.
This may be my favourite series on the Network so far.

Haven't watched yet so I dunno if he talked about her, but his mom was an incredible person to do what she did.

This may be my favourite series on the Network so far. For what it's worth, Bruno has been around a long while, and around a lot of stuff. That strength of character doesn't necessarily spring up overnight, so who knows. Give it a while and you might see some folks rise to the occasion and go up in your estimation.

I also agree, she was incredible for what she did.

I honestly could have spent the entire episode listening to him talk about his time surviving the harsh conditions of WWII. I was glued to my seat for that portion. What a life this guy's lived.

Haven't watched it yet, but if it's half as good as his interview on Art of Wrestling years ago, we're in for something special.
I can listen to the older guys talk all day and be riveted.

I've been binging on these since Bruno's interview. They've all been really good. (I'm torn between Ron Simmons and Booker T as my favorites. You can tell who JBL's best friends are because it flows with no effort.) Even the Brian James one, where they show JBL listening but a look on his face like he either smells something bad or thinks Brian is full of shit. Was a good 30 straight seconds just frozen on him.

JBL's greatest interview!
It was. Rogers hated Sammartino and never would have agreed to job to him.

JBL's greatest interview! It was. Rogers hated Sammartino and never would have agreed to job to him. That feeling was mutual. Several guys ended up with less than favorable opinions of Rogers, most notably Freddie Blassie, who wasn't as classy as Bruno about it, stating in his book, "Rogers was a f***in' prick."

JBL's greatest interview! It was. Rogers hated Sammartino and never would have agreed to job to him. Vince Sr. may have had a reason to screw Buddy. Georgiann Makropolous was the president of Rogers' fan club and had been tipped off by Rogers' wife that Buddy had intended to poach talent from Vince Sr. She then tipped off Vince Sr. or someone in his inner circle and with Bruno waiting in the wings, the decision was made to put the belt on Bruno. Makropolous later became head of Bruno's fan club. This is Makropolous with Bruno and Buddy. Both men respected her so much that they were willing to set aside their bèef and pose for this picture.

Someone who's more well-versed in the early history of the WWWF can straighten this out for me. So historically, the reason given for Vince Sr. withdrawing from the NWA after Rogers' loss to Thesz was because Buddy was a great draw in New York, and they didn't want to lose that. Yet in this interview, Bruno says that he was a notorious "territory killer". If he was so bad for business, then why risk withdrawing from the NWA and going out on your own in the first place?
