They've been uploading shows on the Network, I'm really into the Eddie heel turn storyline with Rey. The heel turn was done right this time as opposed to 2003 where he didn't really change his persona, which led to turning into a face a month after the turn.
Also, the Rey vs Kurt match from the Japan episode was great.

I still remember Eddie giving Rey the brainbuster on the steel steps with Rey's mask being torn. I was mainly watching TNA during 2005 but that segment reminded me how brutal WWE could be if they wanted to.

Its amazing to realize how stacked the SD talent pool was around fall 2005; Orton, Batista, JBL, Undertaker, Guerrero, Benoit, Mysterio, Christian, Booker, a rising Kennedy.
Then Christian left, Eddie passed away, Kennedy got injured (and never was quite as good when he came back), Batista was put out for 6 months. Then when things were finally stabilized in spring 2006 the recently arrived Kurt Angle took time off/left for ECW, and Orton was suspended/left for Raw. Throw in JBL's first retirement and Benoit taking time off, and come June 2006, the show is basically being carried Mysterio and King Booker's court.
Was an interesting time though.

Everybody's mentioning all these great, amazing things from 2005, and literally the first thing to come to mind for me is Michael Cole's screaming orgasm when Batista got drafted.

The thing I remember most from 2005 was in the UK, Smackdown was taken off Sky One and moved to Sky Sports exclusively. Which meant I could only watch WWE Experience for months until I got Sky Sports in September that year.

Fall 2005 was right about the time I gave up as a full time fan. Smackdown was pretty excellent in 2005, but Eddie's death.....didn't affect me as much as other fans, but it was absolutely a jarring moment to how the momentum was going. In many ways, morale was rocked and never fully recovered, and what exploitation occurred afterwards (whether it be Rey jumping on that bandwagon & driving it up our asses, or heels like Orton and even JBL badmouthing it) was officially what turned me off to loving wrestling and the WWE.
Years of exposure to the jaded IWC broke me right about then, and though I've still watched since - watching more loyal fans abandon with all haste in 2007 when Benoit.....did what he did, and then finally myself breaking the TV habit very early last year - it has never ever been the same as it was for those first 16 years.

Smackdown in 2005 is a weird time. It's not good or bad, it's just kind of there.
Isn't there a random tag match in the fall with Batista and Piper teaming?

05 is a great year in general. My first full year back in wrestling after burning out in mid-2003. Just fun TV every week and a good roster to boot. Also was my first year on this board and as part of the IWC. Surreal time for me wrestling wise.
