If they announce a remaster of Here Comes The Pain, that would be some super weird/spooky timing. I have been playing HCTP a lot lately making modern day CAWs to put into season mode. I'm not saying 2K has bugged your house, but you should probably throw out your peanut butter jar. I don't even like peanut butter, so they probably bugged my jar of vegemite. Chyna is getting her first Mattel figure, maybe we'll see her in a game finally. 2K20, perhaps? I'd love to see Chyna in a video game, but I worry that we won't even be able to have her face men because of the stupid gender limitations. That reminds me, can they pleaaaaase get finally get rid of it? This year we had Nia Jax get the shit kicked out of her in the men's Rumble and Becky taking a nasty End of Days, I should be able to throw Drake Maverick through five tables as Sasha Banks.

Admittedly I would probably like a Here Comes the Pain remake / retool less than I would a spiritual successor. I'd still be tripping over myself to get a remake, but imagine a game that plays the same and has most of the same wrinkles, but also had the deeper match options and creation features of the more modern games. Even better if you can keep the basic framework of the game's story mode but expand it a bit to make it sort of double as Universe. You could do something really damn special with it with, comparatively, not all that much work.

If there is a Here Comes the Pain remake, I would want a couple new features. Expand the season mode, maybe add the ability to defend titles in Exhibition. I think it'd be cool to add a universe, but I won't hold my breath. I'd also want a widely expand roster.

I may have stumbled upon a glitch in 2K19 where you can basically make a "Fight Forever" match.
So far this has only worked on 5-Man Normal, 6-Man Normal & 8-Man Normal match types. Normally on the Custom Match screen, you choose a win stipulation on the 1st screen. Normally you can turn off both Pin AND Submit as long as you turn on at least one other way to win said match, like 'last man standing', 'use your finisher', 'over the top rope', and so on. For the 3 modes listed, the game somehow allowed me to turn them all off, turn on '2 out of 3 falls' and progress to the next screen and confirmation and to start the match. So essentially there was no way to win, and those 5/6/8 poor souls are doomed to wrestle a match with no winning option. (At least I think. I haven't run a match at any ultra-long duration yet to be sure.) So far it's worked on both the PC Steam version and the X Box One one.

A HCTP remaster is an instant buy for me. Like the second they announce it, I'll preorder. That said, if they literally just copy pasted Season Mode into the new game and called it Classic Mode or something, I guarantee people would go nuts for it. If they do it, they're going to have to take out a lot of the Diva stuff. Bra & Panties, the manager storyline with the shower scene, etc.

Stumbled into a glitch in Universe Mode in 2K19. Samoa Joe was my WWE Champion up until Elimination Chamber, where suddenly the belt had been vacated, and now there was a match for the vacant title between...Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. I thought it was just a display glitch at first but I did the match, and sure enough, Mandy is now the first-ever female WWE Champion.

Hell, Universe did this to me on its own once, randomly set up a 2-out-of-3-falls match that had no way to win it. Pretty sure that one was one-on-one.

Sorry, I don’t seem to remember how to embed tweets: Longtime WWE game developer Bryan Williams tweeted today seemingly hinting at a possible HCTP remake/side project. Count me the f*** in. I'd assume this is referring to the other wrestling game series Yukes is looking to start up.
Part of me is still wondering if the new IP is AEW. They would be the ones to want their game to play like an old fan favorite.

It’d be a really surreal twist of the narrative of 2019 but if WWE back around the first Smackdown game didn’t sign a deal where Yukes would only do WWF/E games, then I don’t know what to tell you except they’re lousy businessmen.

I doubt an AEW game would be made by the same people making WWE games. While I'm sure AEW would want an HCTP or WWE No Mercy style of game play of a game for them. I doubt the same group is going to work on both companies. WWE I'm sure wouldn't allow that.

Kenny Omega said he'd want the AKI/Syn Sophia team o develop an AEW game. He's even friends with or at least knows some of the team members personally, iirc (don't quote me on that).
I think that tweet is saying that Bryan and co. are looking at other wrestling games for inspiration for a new ip, not that they're specifically remastering or remaking Here Comes The Pain. Although, I do find it interesting that the American team seems to be working on it as it came off like Yukes alone was working on this new game.
I remember when THQ had the license, people would always shit all over guys like Bryan Williams, so I guess I associate him with bad games and lies...but that seems to be more due to Corey Ledesma's overwhelming hatred by fans leeching onto Bryan's name. Corey still works on the WWE games if I'm not mistaken. That Aubrey Sitterson guy too was really disliked by fans.

I do wonder what people think of that Jenks guy who usually shares quick sneak peeks of the upcoming WWE games around release time.

It's a video game for god's sake.

Do you guys think they will reveal anything about the game today since today's Raw Reunion its as good time as any to reveal the trailer which I believe focuses on 20 years of WWE Games.

Man, I'm not sure if they'd have the guts to try this - but it'd be amazing if the whole gimmick was that you could play through 20 matches - one from each original game - using the engines/graphics from the time. That might get a little repetitive towards the middle of the 2000s, but like...Rock vs. Austin in Smackdown 1, Jericho vs. HHH in Smackdown 2, Kurt Angle vs. The Rock in SD 3, etc. would be a fun twist.

I don't think that's such a good idea. Playing them so close together would make it really obvious how many of them were huge pieces of crap.
