Ohio State is the only team in the playoff I'm iffy about. They've gotten a favorable treatment from the media that only comes with being THE Ohio State University. Like I always said, you can't tell me Wisconsin would have gotten the benefit of the doubt they did in their position.
Then again, they not being in would let Penn State and I would not be a fan of that for one reason: those fans have ZERO appreciation for the fact that it's a miracle that they even have a program.
SMU got the death penalty for a few shady dealings, Penn State looked the other way while their offensive coordinator used his own charity to find kids to abuse. And now, those dumb asses think that winning a football game counts as some sort of "redemption." Look all over Twitter, that's the word of the year for them. It's pathetic. Cheers for that, Gus Johnson.
That sort of attitude, the kind that says that football success means more than anything else, is why they found themselves in the position that they were in. And they've learned nothing since then. Until they get that through their thick skulls, they deserve f*** all. Call it bitter, spiteful, wrathful, or whatever. It's the truth and I'm not interested in the #NotAllNittanyLions argument.

Feel bad for the Air Force.
They are playing in that bowl with no national TV deal.

The Heisman Trophy has named five finalists for the award -- Louisville QB Lamar Jackson, Clemson QB Deshaun Watson, Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield, Michigan LB Jabrill Peppers and Oklahoma WR Dede Westbrook.
Mississippi State redshirt freshman QB Nick Tiano will transfer to Chattanooga.

So happy that Peppers is getting recognized. I know his odds to win are slim to none but there is no way he wasn't one of the top 3 or 4 in the country.

Lupin, since you're a Nebraska fan, I've got a question about the Cornhuskers. It's an interesting one and one I think is an interesting what-if
2001. Had they not ended up in the Rose Bowl against Miami in the wake of 62-36 and merely been a BCS at-large and played in, say, the Sugar Bowl against LSU or the Orange Bowl against Florida, do you think they might have ended up with things not going on the decline?
If they don't play and get killed by Miami in the title game which a lot of people didn't think they should have gone and ended up in a different BCS bowl game- which I don't think people would have been angry over- do you think the Colorado Black Friday debacle could have been written off as a one-time perfect storm instead of the first shot that took down what had been one of college football's King Kongs for decades? (And if anything Eric Crouch could have gone out on a better note)?

(And if anything Eric Crouch could have gone out on a better note)? They might've done a little better in a different bowl game. I think if they would've played in a different BCS bowl game, they would've been a lot more competitive. That or they would've fallen on their face even more after the shellacking by Colorado. Even as a young Husker fan, I didn't have much hope for them in the Rose Bowl against Miami. I was like, "Cool, we're playing for the National Championship, but we're gonna get killed." I still think Oregon should've played Miami for the National Championship, but once again, the BCS was the BCS. A Bull Crap System. As for the downfall, I think after the 2001 season, they lost a lot of their talent, and 2002 was gonna be a rebuilding year. I mean, Jammal Lord did somewhat fair, but he was no Eric Crouch. And I think the AD of Nebraska had his mind pretty much made up after the 2002 season, and was gonna fire Solich, which was stupid, because he had one bad year for Nebraska. I remember him saying that "I don't want to surrender the Big 12 to Oklahoma and Texas," but that's exactly what happened when he fired Solich.

The current student body and players seems to want to move on from the mess. I believed he played in the XFL.

Baylor’s on-going scandal over reported sexual assaults looks like it is about to get even uglier. Former head coach Art Briles has filed a lawsuit for libel and slander against three school regents and a vice president, according to the Associated Press, accusing them of falsely stating he knew of sexual assaults by players and didn’t report them. Perhaps most eyebrow-raising is that the lawsuit also accuses the officials of conspiring to keep him from getting another coaching job. Briles has been connected to openings such as the one at Houston but school officials quickly denied reports that he was formally considered for the vacant head coaching spot. Briles was fired in the spring by Baylor after an investigation from law firm Pepper Hamilton determined the school mishandled reports of alleged sexual assaults, some of which involved numerous football players. The coach denied he knew about the alleged assaults but several regents — including the three named in the recent lawsuit — told the Wall Street Journal on the record that Briles failed to report alleged assaults. While the football team may be looking to move on from all of this with the recent hire of Matt Rhule as the new head coach, it appears the school itself will continue to deal with the fallout from one of the worst scandals in college football history. collegefootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2016/12/08/former-coach-art-briles-sues-baylor-officials-for-libel-and-conspiracy/
