For me, it's not really Christmas season yet until one or both of these movies crosses my mind.

I was about 30 before I realized Kevin's later line about "never feeling like a real man" after seeing his uncle in the shower was a cock joke.

"How does a mother forget her own son?" "If it makes you feel any better, I forgot my reading glasses"

I don't get it. At all. It's kind of a small horse, I mean what am I missing? Am I crazy?

The Home Alone movies taught me to ALWAYS trust the creepy, seemingly loner weirdos

Ding-Dang-Dong Host: Guests of The New Celebrity Ding-Dang-Dong stay at the world-renowned Plaza Hotel, New York's most exciting hotel experience!
Also, you have to appreciate any family classics that not only have the aforementioned dick joke, but two criminals who explicitly state their intention to murder a child.

I have a confession of my own. Remember that nice gentleman who helps Kevin find the lobby at the Plaza Hotel? Well, ah, I didn't realize who that was until many years later. After all, his name meant nothing to me as a kid.
Has anyone noticed the continuity error between the films? In the first one, Kevin is eight years old, based on his mom telling the airport clerk that "I am trying to get home to my eight-year-old son!" The sequel takes place a year after, since Kevin's mom says, "you got your wish last year, maybe you'll get it again this year." However, Kevin tells Cedric that "I'm ten years old; TV's my life."
Being a big fan of these movies, I thought it was so cool that Macaulay Culkin and I share a birthday. And I had a Talkboy; it wasn't nearly as easy to use as the movie made it out to be!
I also find it amusing that Pepsi is featured so prominently in the first one, and Coke in the sequel.

I don't know if they ever specified Kevin's birthday, but it's possible that he either rounded up, or she had still thought of him as 8 when he had recently turned 9. That's probably just a reach on my part to explain it, but sometimes people play a little fast and loose with ages. I had a Talkboy, too, and I think one of the variations they put out. "Credit card? You've got it!"

"How does a mother forget her own son?" "If it makes you feel any better, I forgot my reading glasses" I realized later on after hearing that reading glasses line that the uncle was a total dick. Sure, he was already a douche earlier on by calling his nephew a little jerk and having his brother pay for all those pizzas, but man, that line was just messed up.

I honestly hated the mother in this one especially in the first one when she openly tells her son to wish and pray that he doesn't have a family. Did anyone else find that very much of being an asshole thing to say?

The mom was a bitch. The dad was cool as hell I love when Marv slips on the gel in the second one, and slides for like 50 feet and, his skeleton, when he turns on the sink

Did anyone else find that very much of being an asshole thing to say? I think she felt pretty bad about doing that, but I get that with how much the extended family leans on Kevin's parents in these two movies and expects them to handle everything, plus Kevin and Buzz probably being at each other's throats on a constant basis, she is going to be pretty drained of patience with Kevin. She does end up being the one in both movies to go furthest to get to Kevin. Also, now I really want macaroni because I remembered Kevin making it.

Is it ever explicitly mentioned how Peter McAllister got so rich in the first place?

Finally, an excuse to post this video - a blow by blow account of how many times over Harry and Marv would've died from their injuries in the first two movies:
