I watched the shult out of it tonight. Anyone else?
My favorite things about this are the live commercials, the specially made commercials, and local affiliate look-ins. It feels cool to be a part of something bigger than yourself. Really felt like a concert while watching.
I'm way too big of a sucker for musical theatre too when it's executed at this level.

Watched, thought performances were good, production and direction not so much with the weird camera cuts. Also, just give Jennifer Hudson her Golden Glove or Emmy for supporting actress in a miniseries or tv movie cuz that girl can sang.
Updated live musical list post Hairspray.
1) Grease 1a) The Wiz Live
3) Hairspray Live
4) The Sound of Music
5) The Rocky Horror Picture Show
6) Peter Pan

I caught a bit of this and it was pretty fun.
So far The Wiz has been my favorite recent TV musical, so much better than the film (normally I love Sidney Lumet, but....I only liked the soundtrack).

So, they had cameos from Ricki Lake (Tracy in the 1988 film) and Marissa Jaret Winokur (Tracy in the orignal 2002 Broadway production).
Meanwhile, Nikki Blonsky (Tracy from the 2007 film) is nowhere to be seen.

It doesn't air in Australia until tomorrow but I'm looking forward to it.

Considering the themes of the show, this is an especially fitting choice for early December 2016.
Didn't think the start was all that great, but I ended up really enjoying this by the end.
Jennifer Hudson stole the show. I mean.... wow.
Almost fittingly, I thought the show's weak link was Link.

Now can they please do Steven Sondheim's Company next year? I'm still crossing my fingers for Reefer Madness Live! I imagine West Side Story would also be thematically appropriate.
