So she doesn't work in a graveyard and has a ghost girl and gay werewolf as best friends in the show? No, the show just stole the name from the comic. Literally nothing crossed over. They totally straight washed the cast, and for that reason, I wont watch it. Make a black character white, and all hell would break loose. Make a gay character straight, and no one gives a shit it seems The talking chimp wins again Except they didn't make a gay character straight. It's different characters. And you can boycott the show if you want, but you are the one missing out on something fun. But let me ask you this: If you refuse to watch it, how do you know whether or not there are gay characters?

I watched the first half of season 1, expecting the show to introduce the rest of the comics. It didnt. But that isn't the point. The point is that the book featured a gay main character. This show doesnt. The took a point of representation and they took it away. The show might be the most amazing thing on TV, but because it uses that name, it came with expectations and it failed to meet them - and as the representation issue is personal to me, it pisses me off

It doesn't advertise itself as any kind of direct adaptation at all. None of the characters are the same. Wouldn't straight washing be more like if the werewolf was on the show as well with the same name and was straight instead of gay?

I meant his partner, who is the brother of the main character. The main character has a brother, but he isnt gay, the few times he was seen in the early part of the show, he was just a stereotypical straight teen boy. Granted the main character from the show and book arent the same, but that in itself is the very issue.
