About every 3 months I have to do a Wiki check to see if he's still alive, and am always pleasantly surprised. Go Kirk Douglas!!

Sort of morbid, but I've been following his journey to 100 for several years along with Eli Wallach and Ernest Borgnine. I wasn't sure if all or any would make it to 100, but at the time, I figured Borgnine would since he seemed to be in the best shape. Nonetheless, congrats to Kirk, who is one of the most underrated actors of all time. Amazing that he never won a competitive Oscar given that he was a true star for over 40 years.
He was always a favorite of mine. A few good movies of his are Ace in the Hole, Champion, Paths of Glory, and another movie no one talks about called There Was A Crooked Man...
His best movie is Lonely Are The Brave though, which is almost a proto First Blood.
Here's hoping for many more birthdays.

I love Spartacus, grew up watching it. Funny thing is it was recorded off television, and cut off the last twenty minutes. So for twelve years I had no idea how it actually ended.
In addition, I stumbled on a random Michael Douglas interview some years ago, where he tells the story of his dad sitting down to watch one of his movies, and makes it some time in before realizing he's watching Michael Douglas, not himself.
