I'm a big fan of him in The Secret Window. I wouldn't mind seeing him do more serious, low-key roles like that.

Tim Burton is pretty much dangerous for an actor's career at this point.

A few lesser known ones I've enjoyed are Crybaby, Benny and Joon, and Don Juan DeMarco Though I can't remember a damn thing about them other than that I generally enjoyed them

I don't like Depp anymore after the whole thing with Amber Heard. Thought he was terrible in "Yoga Hosers" with his awful Inspector Clouseau clone.

He was awesome in the 90s, but I think that doing so much with Tim Burton in recent years has harmed him. I absolutely adore Ed Wood, which I think is one of his better comedic performances.
Incidentally, for all his charisma and presence onscreen, I don't think I've ever made it through one of his TV interviews in the last five years or so. The guy's like a walking coma and totally sucks the life from an interview.

I miss Pre-Pirates Johnny Depp (Despite how good his performance was in it)
When he was just that really solid actor that you could tell enjoyed risks and doing random parts/pieces. I loved him in weird shit like Fear and Loathing, Ninth Gate, OUATIM, etc
Post-Pirates, I've only enjoyed him in Public Enemies. He's good in Black Mass but the film plods all around him.

Well he was recently in {Spoiler}{Spoiler}Fantastic Beasts It's not encouraging for him though because the screening I went to some girl in front of me yelled out "Oh for f***'s sake, not him!" When he showed up
