I'm just very thankful we ended up with this segment: What amazes me most is that not a single person involved in this segment is still with the company.

The best explanation I have for Aces and Eights is this: Take Sons of Anarchy and the nWo. Now remove the coolness that either of those things had. Compose your group with a bunch of mid-card stars and two really green guys, one of whom is the son of a producer working on the show. Don't forget Ken Anderson cursing a lot! Now add in an announcer who can't actually wrestle, but can substitute as a perfect circle. Finally don't forget a turn everyone saw a mile away. Well now my friend, you have one of the lamer faction groups this side of Riot Control. I'm pretty sure the motorcycle group that your dad formed while going through his middle age crisis was cooler.

Ken Anderson became tolerable in this role and they f*** it up by turning him face again.

My favorite part about the whole angle was an episode early in where Hulk Hogan outsmarted them by locking the door before they showed up, so there was no Aces and Eights involvement that day. He never thought to try it again.

I enjoyed it but kind of lost interest after Bully Ray won the title. Not because he was the Champ but once he explained everything the follow up wasn't strong enough for me.
You could see they were building Styles up to beat him at Bound For Glory with the 'No title shot in a year' stipulation he had at the time but the Sabin feud was terrible and I barely remember anything else Bully Ray did during his title run.

The best part after the big reveal dragged on way to long was Brooke joining, hence Brooke Tessmacher in jean sorts.

It's hard to imagine squeezing taz into a leather jacket after a wedding angle didn't usher in the next boom period.

Essentially, it's Bully Ray's elaborate way of manipulating everything so he could get the TNA title, and it was that way all along.
I mean, I know TNA frequently gets yelled at for pulling insane improv writing out of their ass all the time, but clearly they always knew what the end game was with Aces and 8s.

It gave Mr. Anderson's career new life which was quite the accomplishment.

I've always had the idea that Aces & Eights was Bischoff's attempt to try and cross over some of the concepts/characters from The Devil's Ride (a show he was co-producing at the time with Kevin Arnold's brother) on the Discovery Channel after seeing some TDR quasi outlaw "bikers" and their tough guy personas. The timing of the faction and that show was just too coincidental in my view. Bischoff's always had half a chubb for anything motorcycle related. Just go back to the WCW Hog/Road Wild PPVs.
